Probiotics, or friendly bacteria, can help fight digestive tract problems

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Unlike the harmful bacteria sometimes found in food that can cause a host of health problems; probiotics, found in yogurt and certain other foods, have proven to be extremely effective in avoiding and curing digestive tract and other problems. Strong evidence shows probiotics helping lactose intolerance and diarrhea, decreasing the risk of colon cancer, easing the symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome, lowering blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels, and boosting the immune system. Although the US market is still not accustomed to the idea of live bacteria in their food, market research firm Mintel cites a 140 percent increase last year in probiotic-fortified foods.
