TNF-alpha blocking drugs can cause skin diseases

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Anti-arthritis drugs known as TNF-alpha blockers have been found to cause severe skin diseases, according to findings recently reported in Arthritis Research and Therapy. A medical team at Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Center in the Netherlands studied 289 rheumatoid arthritis patients who took TNF-alpha blocking drugs for from one to ten years.

The study found that 25 percent of the patients had developed skin disorders sufficiently serious to require medical attention. The skin disorders included eczema, eruptions, and skin tumors. The types of drugs associated with the skin problems included infliximab, adalimumab, etanercerpt, and lenerceptugs, all of which are TNF-alpha blockers.
