Bextra pulled from shelves in Canada

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Pfizer has suspended sales of the painkiller Bextra in the United States and Europe, and has removed the drug from shelves in Canada, in response to requests from American, European and Canadian regulators. The FDA cited the possibility of Bextra causing a potentially fatal skin reaction.

Health Canada says that seven Canadians have contracted severe skin reactions from Bextra thus far. Bextra is a COX-2 inhibitor, a drug family that has come under increasing fire as it has been linked to an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. They reduce arthritis pain without causing stomach distress, as earlier generations of arthritis drugs were known to do.
