Cardiologist, anesthesiologist writes owner's manual for the human body
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
A Syracuse, NY anesthesiologist and a New York heart surgeon have partnered to produce "You, The Owner's Manual," a book on the human body and how to take care of it. The book discusses the major body systems, and chapters concentrate on specific health concerns such as cancer and nutrition.
- New cars come with owner's manuals, but people do not.
- So, Syracuse anesthesiologist Dr. Michael Roizen teamed with New York City heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz to write "You, the Owner's Manual" (HarperResource, $24.95).
- The book's chapters are arranged by body system: heart and arteries; brain and nervous system; bones, joints and muscles; and so on.
- One chapter concentrates on cancer while another covers diet and includes healthy recipes.
- The muscles around your eyes are the most active in your body because they're always moving.
- You're most likely to get a stomach ulcer from kissing because the bacteria that causes most stomach ulcers can be transmitted back and forth from significant others.
- The best thing you can do to prevent infections is wash your hands.
- To enjoy sex, you need good blood flow, so make sure that your arteries and heart are in good health.
- Captain Safety is turning in his cape after 10 years of teaching people about medication.
- Allan Krassenbaum will remain an educator, now in his sole role as a pharmacist at Kmart, but this is his last year to celebrate Poison Prevention Week in costume.
- Store medication and household products in original packaging, locked away.
- Use safety latches to prevent children's access even if the products inside the cabinet have child-resistant containers.
- Never put inedible products in food or drink containers.
- Never call a medicine candy, as it encourages children to take medicine when you are not looking.
- Natur-Tyme will hold its annual health fair, Feelin' Alive in 2005, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Natur-Tyme is a nutritional store at 5898 Bridge St. in East Syracuse.
