Instant message spam artist under arrest; problem still growing, say experts

An 18-year old spammer who used instant messaging services to send 1.5 million ads for pornography and mortgage refinancing services was recently arrested in Los Angeles. Experts say that internet message spam, or "spim", is a growing problem; around 17 million online users have received unsolicited commercial messages in their instant message clients.
