A Montana dietician recently told some university students and faculty that the bottom line of weight loss is really simple: just burn more calories than you take in. "I can put anyone on a 1,200 - 1,600 calorie-a-day diet and effect weight loss," she said. "If you assume a 500 calorie deficit a day, you're going to lose about a pound a week."
