Seroquel makes dementia symptoms worse in Alzheimer’s patients, study finds

An antipsychotic drug prescribed for almost half of all Alzheimer’s patients in Britain can actually worsen symptoms of the disease, according to a study conducted by the Institute of Psychiatry. Seroquel was designed to treat aggression and dementia in schizophrenics, but has been heavily prescribed for Alzheimer’s patients after other drugs were found to increase the risk of stroke and pulled off the market.
