Kaiser Permanent bars use of painkiller Bextra

Kaiser Permanente, reflecting concern over the painkiller Bextra, has stopped allowing physicians to prescribe it until safety tests are done. Bextra is similar in composition to the painkiller Vioxx, which was pulled from the market by its manufacturer in September 2004 after evidence that the drug may contribute to heart problems was discovered.
