Strength training can make overweight kids physically fit

Overweight children may have a tough time keeping up the pace as they walk on a treadmill. But they could find their key to physical fitness lies in weight training. “You can’t put these kids on a treadmill for 30 minutes and have them huffing and puffing and sweating,” said Debi Pillarella of the American Council on Exercise. “But strength training with kids who are heavier is superior to any other type of activity.”
