Data from Symantec's Internet Security Threat Report reveals that hackers are aiming to get people's financial information more than ever. The report, covering Jul-Dec 2004, shows that identity theft occurred in 54 percent of the top 50 malicious codes. Phishing scams are also on the rise. The survey reveals that Symantec was blocking about 33 million phishing attempts, up over 366 percent from figures from the first half of 2004.
