FDA considers over the counter status for statin drugs

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

The FDA is considering making the anti-cholesterol drug Mevacor available over the counter. Drug companies want to sell the drug OTC because there are millions of people who would buy it and take it if it were available without prescription. These are people at moderate risk of heart disease but who are not taking cholesterol drugs now. Opponents of the move fear that people would get the drug but skip medical consultation.
