Minnesota to fight feds over Internet phone companies

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

A recent federal ruling preventing states from imposing their telecommunications regulations on Internet phone services will be contested by Minnesota. Root of the dispute is whether Internet phone services will be able to operate 911 emergency services. There are currently 1 million VoIP subscribers in the U.S., expected to grow to 18 million by 2008. States fear loss of tax revenue from land-based phone companies will not provide sufficient revenue for 911 and rural service.
