Both the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) and the FDA believe there's really no need to require bottled water manufacturers to admit their products come from tap water. No surprise there -- both these organizations routinely act to protect the interests of powerful corporations, and when it comes to bottled water, the biggest companies are often those sourcing the lowest quality water (such as tap water). |
| I use a water filtration system to clean tap water before I drink it. (Coincidentally, this is similar to what PepsiCo does when creating Aquafina water, except PepsiCo uses plastic bottles, where I only drink out of glass or stainless steel.)
You can get clean public water in places like Hawaii, Oregon and anywhere that's close to the mountains, but most folks in first world nations are getting tap water that's far from pristine. The public water infrastructure in the U.S. may be among the best in the world, but that's not saying much. I won't even shower in U.S. |

This idea that consumers should not be informed their high-priced bottled water is really just filtered tap water is consistent with the aims of food, drug and beverage corporations, who almost universally agree that consumers should be given less information, not more, about the products they're swallowing. |

That Dasani water comes from tap water -- the same stuff used to flush your toilet. Of course, the water is filtered and augmented before being put into Dasani bottles, but it's still from the same source as your tap water.
This week, on November 7th, Corporate Accountability International (www.StopCorporateAbuse.org) is holding a nationwide rally in seven key U.S. cities and college campuses across the country to demand that Coca-Cola honestly label their Dasani bottled water products as "coming from a public water source." My view on PepsiCo
Since this story has much to do with PepsiCo, I thought I would offer my personal opinion on this corporation. |
| This idea that consumers should not be informed their high-priced bottled water is really just filtered tap water is consistent with the aims of food, drug and beverage corporations, who almost universally agree that consumers should be given less information, not more, about the products they're swallowing. Over the last several decades, corporations have vigorously opposed truth in labeling laws and regulations, including those requiring the labeling of trans fatty acids, sodium content and even ingredients lists! |
| It's not the same as admitting, "Aquafina comes from tap water," which would be a far more honest way to label the product. But PepsiCo seems to have no interest in advertising the source of their Aquafina product, and my guess is that the "public water source" text on the label will be really small and difficult to read. It's much like the labeling of side effects of prescription drugs: They bury the bad news somewhere that most consumers won't ever look.
Aquafina is currently the top-selling bottled water brand in the United States. |

Those same pores, of course, also facilitate the elimination of toxic chemicals). tap water in the United States often contains chlorine, aluminum, pesticides, lead, copper, and other toxic substances. Approximately 70% of the toxins from tap water enter the body through the skin; the remaining 30% of the toxins enter via ingestion. |

The group also says that tap water is just as good as bottled water, which makes me wonder what they're drinking. Sure, tap water is probably okay if you're a horse (although I would never let my dog drink it). But unless you enjoy consuming carcinogenic chemicals and fluorosilicic acid -- a chemical dripped into the water supplies in many U.S. cities -- then tap water just isn't a safe option.
That fluorosilicic acid, by the way, is often scraped off the inside of coal power plant smokestacks. |

Toothpaste is supposed to help clean your teeth, but what it actually does just might horrify you. When tap water meets toothpaste, the triclosan reacts freely with the chlorine in the tap water to become chloroform (a chlorinated aromatic) and is similar to the dioxins found in the compound Agent Orange. It's a chemical reaction occurring right in your mouth while you brush your teeth. |

It is highly recommended that you use a water purification system not only on your drinking water tap, but for the whole house, and if out to eat, avoid drinking restaurant tap water.
Were chlorine and fluoride the only chemicals we had to worry about, that would be bad enough. But as discussed, food manufacturers and the chemical companies have decided to add thousands of synthetic chemicals to our food and beverages in the form of preservatives, dyes, flavorings, flavor enhancers, stabilizers and artificial sweeteners. You truly do not know what you are eating. |

| The toxin was found in southeast Ohio tap water, so residents were given bottled water instead. When the bottled water was tested, traces of C8 were found—the very chemical they were trying to avoid! Research conducted regarding the safety of plastic bottled water packaging shows that Phlalates and Bisphenols (hormone disruptors and known carcinogens) may be leaching from the plastic used to make the bottles.

Conventional testing, such as a CT scan, an MRI, and an electroencephalogram, as well as routine blood work, are standard. Additional helpful testing includes
Toxic metal testing for elements toxic to brain tissue, such as aluminum, mercury, lead, arsenic, and others. The best test is a toxic element challenge urinalysis. |

PARA-TB resists pasteurization. At the first sign of heat it forms a spore, and when milk cools, it re-emerges into its original form. The walls of PARA-TB cells contain mycolic acid, which is found nowhere else. Mycolic acid helps PARA-TB resist antibiotics. |

This powder will indeed stop the peeling action, but so would generously rinsing your skin with tap water, so this second product isn't necessary. Overall, although this will produce results, they're not going to be comparable to those you'd get from a stronger AHA or BHA peel administered by a physician. Moreover, you can achieve better results with less irritation by applying a well-formulated AHA gel, cream, or lotion (which should specify the amount of AHA it contains) and leaving it on the face. |

Residents were recently informed that for the last decade they've been drinking tap water with levels of TCE that are twenty-four times higher than the maximum level deemed safe by the Environmental Protection Agency. For ten years water laced with TCE has been leaching into the groundwater from those nearby landfills and ending up in Eno Road residents' coffee cups and water glasses.
There are many, many other Eno Roads. In 2002, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) and its partners prepared public-health assessment documents for 122 toxic waste sites. |

Imagine the hottest tap water is in the bucket to begin with and that someone is using a teakettle full of boiling water to refresh the bucket at intervals. Now it's so hot it feels like it is burning the skin off your hand. Still, you leave your hand in the bucket. The heat is almost unbearable. You can feel it crawling up your fingers, all the way back to your palm. Your palm is even starting to swell. You feel like your hand and fingers are cooking. You can feel your brow begin to perspire. Finally, you can't stand it anymore. |

| The council also estimates 25% of the bottled water on the market is actually bottled tap water. Misleading labels fool the public into believing they are drinking pure water when this could not be further from the truth.
Did You Know?
The National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) observed a particular brand of bottle water with mountains and a lake on the label, which advertised its contents as "spring water". The water source for the manufacturing plant was actually a public water line located near a hazardous waste site! |
| An even more alarming study published in the American Journal of Public Health estimates a 95% risk of developing cancer from regular consumption of chlorinated tap water!83
It's simply ridiculous to continue chlorinating water for consumer use. This toxic substance penetrates the body's critical systems whether you are taking a bath, relaxing in a hot tub, drinking a glass of water, or having fun in a backyard pool.

In the 1984 Summer Olympics, European swim teams refused to compete until chlorination procedures were halted. |

Drink plenty of water: Where your health is concerned, it should always be a priority to guard against dehydration and flush out the system by drinking five large glasses of water a day (ideally filtered tap water or still mineral water). This becomes even more of a priority where there is any disturbance on the skin, and the need rises again if drugs such as antibiotics are being taken. Not only does this support the action of the kidneys, but it also helps guard against constipation and headaches, as well as supporting healthy skin. |

It is important to note how people are also quickly moving away from drinking healthy water:
In 1970 the average consumption of tap water was about 68 gallons per year per capita; and the consumption of soft drinks was 24.3 gallons. By 1989, water consumption decreased to 37 gallons per capita while the consumption of soft drinks rose to 42.2 gallons. Alcoholic beverage consumption was at 39.1 gallons per capita. The American public is currently consuming more soft drinks and alcohol than water!... |

PREPARING THE BREWING WATER
Always use fresh bottled water for brewing tea. tap water contains chemicals that can alter the taste of a brew. Heat water for brewing to the temperatures suggested below, depending on the tea you are using. Never reheat water left in the kettle. Reheating water results in a flat cup of tea. It may seem terribly odd to be giving you directions for boiling water, but the correct steeping temperature is critical for certain teas, so please read on.
