They have serious emotional disorders that have yet to be expressed, much less actually healed.
I see the movie as a sadly accurate mirror of what's wrong with society today -- not only with parent-child communication, but also with mass overmedication and the fact that so many Americans have isolated themselves in their own busy lives without even taking the time to look at what's important or to express themselves in an authentic way.
Interestingly, one character in the film, the town mayor played by Ralph Fiennes, ultimately breaks through and expresses himself in an authentic way. |

That law authorizes a new program so that reports of serious adverse events related to the use of a dietary supplement or over-the-counter drug would be reported to the Food and Drug Administration, FDA, on a priority basis.
As I said, the Durbin amendment contemplates a new adulterated food registry. Under the provisions establishing that registry, reports of adulterated foods would be made by many, if not all, of the same parties who are required to file reports of serious adverse events associated with the use of dietary supplements under Public Law 109-462. |

Interestingly, most of the serious UFO folks undoubtedly agree with me. There's far better evidence of UFOs available than what's shown in this video. And the really smart people who follow this topic aren't fooled by camera zoom effects, either. So I don't mean to paint this as something that represents the entire UFO community -- clearly, it doesn't. It's really more of a joke than anything offering serious footage of UFOs. Anybody who takes this video seriously is marching down the wrong path if they want to find hard evidence of extraterrestrial life. |

I know these are serious topics, but these are serious times. There are big issues at stake here. If we don't make the right choices on these issues, then we're going to pay the price for a very long time. We have to wake up and recognize what we're doing in this world, and we have to change our ways. Humanity is not currently on a sustainable path, and if we don't change, Mother Nature will eventually change things for us, causing a massive population drop across the planet.
Remember: if we don't figure out how to live with nature, nature will most certainly figure out how to live without us. |

It is a serious attack on people's ability to eat what they want and support their health. In this important way, it deprives us of our basic rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is a serious incursion of rights for a trivial and preventable reason, this being that the [past] contamination of the almonds was from a single source."
The issue at hand here is not merely that all California almonds will now be sterilized, but that cooked almonds will be deliberately and falsely labeled as raw. |

Ronnie: Well, the good news is, there is such a huge demand for organic products across the United States and North America that there is a serious shortage of supply. One of the types of products that are in serious short supply is organic milk. This is already more than a $1-billion-a-year industry in the United States, out of the $15 billion in organic food sales last year.
The problem is that our government - specifically the U. S. |

At the end of 2006, the National Toxicology Program in the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences concluded that the risks from DEHP exposure from medical devices had reached the highest levels of scientific apprehension—known in the toxicological trades as "serious concern." "There is serious concern," states the National Toxicology Program assessment, "that certain medical treatments of male infants may result in DEHP exposure levels that adversely affect development of the male reproductive tract. |

No one is talking seriously about banning soda ads and junk food ads to children, and Big Pharma has bought off lawmakers so completely that there's also no serious discussion of ways to end the madness of direct-to-consumer drug advertising (a dubious practice that isn't even allowed in most other countries).
Rather than protecting the people, politicians are now in bed with the powerful corporations selling foods, drugs and personal care products that actually harm people. There is no real defender of the people who remains in power in Washington. |

The issue of reporting is extraordinarily serious. We have to ask, How accurate are the data?"
It's not as though the epidemiologists who develop and deploy FFQs are unaware of their limitations. Some of them, like Walter Willett, strive heroically to repair the faulty data, developing "energy adjustment" factors to correct for the fact that the calories reported on surveys are invariably wrong and complicated "measurement error" algorithms to fix the errors in the twenty-four-hour recall surveys used to fix the errors in the FFQ. |
| This has serious implications, as half of the U.S. population may be deficient in at least one of these micronutrients." Most of the missing micronutrients are supplied by fruits and vegetables, of which only 20 percent of American children and 32 percent of adults eat the recommended five daily servings. The cellular mechanisms Ames has identified could explain why diets rich in vegetables and fruits seem to offer some protection against certain cancers.
Ames also believes, though he hasn't yet proven it, that micronutrient deficiencies may contribute to obesity. |
| At least since the 1906 publication of
Upton Sinclair's The Jungle, the "adulteration" of common foods has been a serious concern of the eating public and the target of numerous federal laws and Food and Drug Administration regulations. Many consumers regarded "oleomargarine" as just such an adulteration, and in the late 1800s five states passed laws requiring that all butter imitations be dyed pink so no one would be fooled. The Supreme Court struck down the laws in 1898. In retrospect, had the practice survived, it might have saved some lives. |
| An oversupply of macronutrients, such as we now face, itself represents a serious threat to our health, as soaring rates of obesity and diabetes indicate. But, as the research of Bruce Ames and others suggests, the undersupply of micro-nutrients may constitute a threat just as grave. Put in the most basic terms, we're eating a lot more seeds and a lot fewer leaves (as do the animals we depend on), a tectonic dietary shift the full implications of which we are just now beginning to recognize. |

Several reviews discussed serious obstacles, which had to be overcome to develop LC-NMR as a useful method (Albert, 1999; Wolfender et al, 2003). The major problems concerned a low sensitivity of NMR, the presence of protonated solvents used in the reversed phase HPLC covering some signals of protons of analytes, and the possibility of running only 'H-NMR experiments.
Most of these problems have been solved partially within the last decade. The low sensitivity of the NMR techniques has been addressed in several ways. |

Another potentially serious weakness of nutritionist ideology is that, focused so relentlessly as it is on the nutrients it can measure, it has trouble discerning qualitative distinctions among foods. So fish, beef, and chicken through the nutritionist's lens become mere delivery systems for varying quantities of different fats and proteins and whatever other nutrients happen to be on their scope. |

Due to the different biological activities of plant secondary metabolites, their regular consumption may have serious consequences for health, both positive and negative (Beck et al., 2003; Le March, 2002; Boue et al, 2003; Fritz et al, 2003; Nestel, 2003). For the mentioned reasons, methods for the efficient and reproducible analysis of flavonoids play a crucial role in research conducted in different fields of the biological and medical sciences.

Even if refined carbohydrates do represent a more serious threat to health than dietary fat, to dwell on any one nutrient to the exclusion of all others is to commit the same reductionist error that the lipophobes did. Indeed, Taubes is so single-minded in his demonization of the carbohydrate that he overlooks several other possible explanations for the deleterious effects of the Western diet, including deficiencies of omega-3s and micronutrients from plants. |

| Over the past several years, the amount of documented and peer-reviewed research on skin-care and cosmetic ingredients has grown tremendously. serious investigation has increased exponentially on all fronts—from antioxidants, anti-irritants, skin-identical ingredients, and cell-communicating ingredients, to how skin ages, why skin wrinkles, how skin heals, what the effects of hormones are on skin function, and how to treat blackheads and acne, not to mention giving us a better understanding of how sun and oxygen destroy skin and why irritation is harmful for skin. |
| The instructions for the Peel wisely recommend practicing "serious sun care," and this titanium dioxide and zinc oxide lotion provides just that, albeit with a slight, unavoidable white cast left on the skin (a characteristic of these mineral-based sunscreens). This antioxidant-rich sunscreen is a fine choice for those with sensitive skin (including those with rosacea).
The prospect of do-it-yourself peels is no doubt intriguing to many consumers, especially when these at-home kits ate compared to peels you would receive in a dermatologist's office. |
| Clearly this subject has to do not only with cosmetics, but also with serious health issues. It is well established that the only true, first-line-of-defense anti-wrinkle product is a well-formulated and carefully applied sunscreen. My Web site, www.cosmeticscop.com, has extensive information on the wide variety of concerns, problems, and cautions regarding sunscreen formulations and application.
The main criterion for a well-formulated sunscreen is the SPF rating, with SPF 15 being the standard. |

There is obviously a serious conflict of interest here, especially if this study is to be taken as "fact" and applied to public health policy. There also need to be a close look at any financial links between the researchers involved in this study and various vaccine manufacturers, as virtually all pro-drug "science" (if you can call it that) being published these days is influenced by Big Pharma money.
The only truly honest, independent, peer-reviewed medical journal operating today is PLoS Medicine, an open-source journal that takes no money from drug companies. |

When that market was saturated, drug companies began selling the idea that antidepressants were "happy pills," suitable for use in not merely serious depression states, but even as "depression prevention!" (So-called "early intervention," where you use antidepressant drugs in perfectly healthy people in order to "prevent" depression from appearing.) This was a major breakthrough for Big Pharma: Now they could sell drugs to healthy people and were no longer limited to merely selling drugs to the sick.
When that market was saturated, they went after the children. |

| Eat pizza to lose weight? Get serious...
Now let's talk about the pizza. Let me just say right off the bat here that any person actually recommending pizza as a health food deserves to be suffocated by a vat of molten Velveeta. Pizza is made with refined flour (which lacks vitamins and minerals) that's cooked to high temperatures (creating cancer-causing acrylamides), then smothered with tomato sauce made with refined sugar (yes, there's sugar in most pizza sauce), then layered with more processed meat (yet more cancer risk) and processed cheese (can you spell H-E-A-R-T D-I-S-E-A-S-E?). |

The Real Story of Diabetes
Chapter 1
It's in Your Genes
Diabetes is a serious disease and an ever-growing epidemic that can be reversed and prevented if you think really small. We're talking about the realm of genes and molecules, where mainstream medicine is just beginning to put to good use the hard-earned knowledge gained from other scientific disciplines like molecular biology and nutritional science. |

Why I Am Legend Echoes a Dangerous Truth in Modern Medicine
I Am Legend should, I believe, serve as a doorway through which we can all ask ourselves very serious questions about modern medicine mucking around with human DNA. Right now, we have food companies growing genetically modified crops that, if subjected to unlucky gene mutations, could potentially wipe out significant portions of the global food supply, leading to devastating famine and a sharp decline in the global population. That's not fiction: It's the status quo in modern agriculture today. No special effects required. |

Other ingredients, such as fragrance, menthol, and sensitizing plant extracts, are primary irritants and are typically void of genuine benefits for skin, so theit use in skin-care products is not a positive thing, at least if you're serious about creating and maintaining healthy skin.
Anti-irritants are incredibly helpful because they allow skin extra healing time and can reduce the problems caused by oxidative and other sources of external damage. |

A 2007 study showed that about one in four people who appear to be depressed are in fact dealing with the aftermath of a recent emotional blow, like the end of a marriage, the loss of a job, or the collapse of a business.32 "Serious Psychological Distress" is a measure used by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. They find it highly prevalent: an average of 9 percent of Americans report having experienced psychological distress in a given year. |
