I continue to publicize this event because I am a raw foods advocate myself, and I have personally witnessed astonishing health improvements in those who have pursued a living foods diet. I've known people who have reverse diabetes, cancer, arthritis and chronic pain. Countless others have eliminated obesity and visually reversed aging to the point where they literally look ten or fifteen years younger.
The raw foods lifestyle really works -- even if you're not 100% raw! (I'm currently between 70% - 90% raw, depending on the day. |

Even if you don't care about health benefits, the taste experience is incredible. A raw foods diet is not about eating salads, carrots and celery sticks all day long. It's nothing of the kind. A raw foods diet is about making cuisine -- like smoothies and blended recipes -- that you have never experienced in your life.
These experiences go way beyond what cooked foods, processed foods or restaurant foods offer. |
| REPPED: Why would a person make raw foods part of their diet? There are a number of reasons, but perhaps the most important is the health benefit of eating raw foods. There is nothing healthier for the human body than the natural foods it was designed to consume. So, what was it designed for? Was it designed to consume liquid candy in the form of soft drinks, deep fried potatoes, Big Macs and Doritos? Of course not. Those things have only existed for a very short period of time, a few decades, whereas the human body has evolved over a period of at least 500,000 years. |

You are one of the pioneers in raw foods, and many of these foods that people can benefit from are available through your distribution center, correct?
Wolfe: Our niche is raw foods, superfoods and sea vegetables. Rawfoods.com isn't just me. It's a conglomerate of about 25 people who are working in this movement, to get people organic, healthy, pesticide-free food that is extremely nourishing. Goji berries are a good example of that. |

If that last phrase seems odd to you, I'll ask you to suspend disbelief and learn more about raw foods before deciding what's true about it. I can tell you from experience that it IS true: The more living foods you eat, the higher your vibration becomes. Before long, you find yourself connected to all living things, thinking thoughts of global peace and compassion for all living things. It's not hocus pocus, it's simply attunement to the vibration of living plants (and the absence of angry meat energy or processed foods pollution). |
| He's a young living legend in the raw foods community.
What did we learn?
When you look at the event in its totality, it's worth asking the question, "What did we learn at this event this year?" Here's my own observation of the main points:
We learned that raw living foods is a fast-growing movement. The event attracted ten times as many people this year compared to last year, and next year looks to be even larger.
We learned that raw living foods people are the healthiest people you'll find anywhere. |

Here are the most important items to consider:
Raw foods: raw foods really cleanse your nervous system and restore healthy brain function. Drinking raw food juices on a regular basis (freshly made in your own blender, not processed) greatly enhances clarity and the power of intention. Most spiritual leaders around the world follow diets based at least in part on raw foods. Following a raw foods diet for just 30 days will dramatically clear your senses and turn you into a powerful broadcaster of intention. |

Phillip the raw foods Jedi that you'll forget all about the cooked food you left behind!).
I will, of course, be present at the event next year, and in the next few weeks, I'll be posting a way you can sign up for the event at a discount. We'll bring together a large NewsTarget group of participants who can share this fun, yet incredibly important experience in 2008. Mark your calendars: The event is on Sep. 12 - 14, 2008 in Sedona, Arizona.
I'll keep you posted on the sign-up process and schedule. Hope to see you at next year's festival! |

In addition to being the founder of the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center in Arizona and author of Conscious Eating and Depression Free For Life, you are widely considered one of the pioneers of the raw foods movement. So let's start with the basics and ask the obvious questions most readers might be wondering about: Why live food? Why the Tree of Life? What's in it for them? Why is it worth the effort to pursue a raw foods lifestyle?
Cousens: That's a very good question. The bottom line is: Because it feels good. |

Lastly, one of the stars of the show was, without question, the incredible raw foods cuisine created by Bruce Horowitz (www.TheSunKitchen.com). I was absolutely blown away by the living foods meals served at the event. They were more flavorful and nourishing than any cooked food I've ever eaten (no kidding). The fact that they were able to serve this food to 2,000+ people was absolutely amazing. Sure, the food was a bit late, but who cares? This was worth every minute standing in line. |

Unless you're big into raw foods, you've probably never tasted food like this.)
When it comes to raw, nutritious foods, it doesn't get any better than this, folks. I spoke with the owner, Aaron Suttschenko, and he said they're ready to ship right now. They offer a 10% discount when you buy the Sampler Pack, which is what I recommend. It gives you a taste of all their products so you know what to order in bulk the next time.
Their e-commerce system isn't all that great (PayPal only), but if you get stuck, you can call them at 513-470-1787 and order over the phone. |

The raw foods lifestyle really works -- even if you're not 100% raw! (I'm currently between 70% - 90% raw, depending on the day.) Outcry from the raw foods community
The raw foods community, not surprisingly, is alarmed at the new rules, which openly condone the false labeling of a food product. Dr. Gabriel Cousens, author of several top-selling books on raw foods and founder of the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center in Arizona (www.TreeofLife.nu), told NewsTarget, "This mandatory almond pasteurization is an effort by the powers that be to limit access to healthy food. It is a serious attack on people's ability to eat what they want and support their health. |

That's the level I'm living at with the raw foods diet, and, believe me, it is a whole different level that goes far beyond subsisting on junk foods, processed foods or restaurant foods.
I grew up in the Midwest, and the Midwest isn't exactly known for its cuisine. I used to think that ground beef and potatoes, with Velveeta melted on top, was a good meal. Years ago, that was the limit of my taste experience. Today, I know that that's just a tiny, little dot on the map of taste experience. |

These experiences go way beyond what cooked foods, processed foods or restaurant foods offer. If you think about snack foods, processed foods and fast foods, you will realize that all those foods taste terrible unless the manufacturer adds chemical excitotoxins to enhance their taste. That's why manufacturers add monosodium glutamate (MSG), yeast extract, sugar and salt to their foods. |

You have a whole new series of textures and flavors available to you, and if what you're using right now from your current raw foods cookbook or your healthy foods cook book is not working for you, get another one. Keep trying things out until you find something that works for you because I tell you, I've found some of the pickiest eaters, who wouldn't even be vegetarians, won over by the flavors in raw gourmet cuisine. I was the same way, actually.
When I learned about the health benefits of raw food, I was excited about it, but at the same time, I had a very active life in Seattle. |

Why is it worth the effort to pursue a raw foods lifestyle?
Cousens: That's a very good question. The bottom line is: Because it feels good. We don't know how long we're going to live, but if we're going to live, we should be in a totally healthy place. I've been on live foods since 1983. It's a very long time, and I'm in my sixty-third year, and the result of that is I'm more flexible than I was when I was captain of an undefeated football team at Amherst College, in the National Football Hall of Fame, and I'm stronger. I could do 70 push-ups then, and on my sixtieth birthday I could do 601. |
