And that's a good point to mention: If you gather a hundred raw foodists in a room, you'll get a hundred different opinions on exactly what's the right raw food diet to follow. But in truth, they're all probably 95% in alignment, with only minor variations based on personal experience or nutritional knowledge. All raw foodists agree that returning to a living foods diet is crucial for the future of life on Earth (human life, plant life, animal life, etc.). |

Author of "Raw Spirit"
After five years of eating a 100% raw food diet, Matt was inspired to write a book called Raw Spirit. He wanted to share information that he thought needed to be out there, reflecting in particular on some of the physical challenges of going raw, along with the amazing shifts he experienced on the spiritual level with this lifestyle. Raw Spirit has become one of the best-selling raw books available people appreciate Matt's honest approach and his willingness to discuss aspects of being raw that often go unmentioned. |

Well, the water is in food, raw food.
Mike: Absolutely.
Wolfe: Therefore, if we're putting that intention into that food or if we're growing our own food that has water in it, that food is essentially developing along a more ennobled form -- because our interest is in it, our love is in it, our consciousness is in it. You really can taste that when you grow your own food. Ultimately, one of the things about water is that it is associated with raw. Fire is associated with cooking. If you look at every living form, you will not find a fire in any living thing on the planet. |

Paul's company also has a dark chocolate raw food bar that's worth looking into...)
Transition Nutrition (www.TransitionNutrition.com) has introduced an incredibly delicious new Bliss Mix superfood mix made of raw cashews, goji berries, mulberries, macadamia nuts and other goodies. These aren't just commodity items, however: These are premium, organic fruits and nuts, and you can clearly taste the difference. I dare say it's the most delicious raw fruit-n-nut mix I've ever tasted. I actually bought a four-pound package and lugged it around all day just so I could eat some on the drive home. |

By the latest count today, there are 69 raw food restaurants worldwide. Twelve years ago there were only two. It just goes to show you what's happening amongst the cultural creative and people who are into different stuff and saying, "I don't want the breast cancer my grandma had, I don't want to go the way that my dad went. I'm going to do something different."
Mike: Indeed. It is really just getting back to basics. It's not something new, but it's catching on out there.
Wolfe: It's like a technological advance. |
| That's what's great about raw food. Sure, not everybody should be eating massive amounts of lettuce or kale, but if you look at what's out there, all these different categories -- fruits and different vegetables, nuts and seeds, seaweed, wheat grass, superfoods, sprouts, and kimchis and sauerkrauts -- it's just unbelievable the choices we have before us.
Mike: You're making me hungry just thinking about it. What about the book? Where can people find the book?
Wolfe: Well, it's now available. RawFood. |

You end up looking at organic, plant-based, raw food, and that becomes the preponderance of your diet. Now, you might need a little of this and a little bit of that to make yourself feel satisfied, or whatever is personally amenable to your metabolism.
Ultimately, a big part of your diet -- when it's all said and done -- has got to be raw, organic and plant-based -- and that's the goal of having this conversation.
Mike: Do you think that people should attempt to grow their own food?
Wolfe: As much as possible. Nothing tastes better than your own food, you know. |
| I mean, this guy is absolutely a powerhouse of energy and concentration, and he's a raw food person and an organic person. He has a saying, and that is, "Genius is self-bestowed. Mediocrity is self-inflicted." You can become a genius in whatever you're doing if you take advantage of the technologies. One of those technologies is food. You're not told that in first grade. But, it's the foundational thing of who you're becoming in every moment. What food did you eat? Are all the minerals present? Are you getting all the right fatty acids so your brain and nervous system function properly? |

The price is mid-range for raw food bars, but the taste experience is truly a cut above the rest. Five stars.
The only drawback I've found to these bars is that if you don't eat them quickly, they can mold. I lost a whole case of Sesame Snap bars to mold (inside the individual wrappers). I don't necessarily blame the company, though: It's very difficult to keep raw food from going bad, especially if you don't use chemical additives. So just remember that this is real food, and it doesn't have the shelf life of a Snickers bar or other dead, processed foods. |
| By buying these raw food bars, you are supporting small, passionate companies that are offering genuine food. You're creating a marketplace that can have a positive impact on others due to the success of these raw food bars in the retail channel.
Plus, you're supporting companies who support organic farming. That has a huge impact on protecting the environment. By simply choosing organic food products rather than conventional, you're effectively reducing pesticide runoff by a specific measurable amount. Remember: Every food item you purchase is like an outward expanding ripple in a pond. |

I talk to a lot of people in, say, the raw food movement, and I'm mostly a raw foodist myself, except when I travel. But the thing about raw foods is it only works if you have really great digestion.
Kunin: Absolutely.
Mike: You must have hydrochloric acid production that's right on the money in order to extract the nutrients from raw foods. So a lot of people try raw foods, hoping to get that beneficial effect, and all they get is gas and bloating. I say give yourself the nutritional transfusion. |

I make sure to eat a raw food element with every meal, and I drink at least one raw foods smoothie (blended with live sprouts that I grow myself) every day. |

I do this by eating raw foods and drinking raw food juices. If you ever want to see a bunch of people with a really vibrant, healthy glow in their skin, just go to a raw food group. Those who have been eating raw foods the longest will probably have the best skin.
But most of the world isn't going to convert to raw foods, so most people need external nutrition for their skin, and in that case, I think this Lluvia product line is the very best I've found yet. If you're going to put something on your skin, let it be this. |

We also do a lot of distribution of information in the field of raw food.
Mike: You do a great job of getting information out. That's what I really admire about your work. It is not just about moving products or selling cases of product. You really have to have a passion for this and educate at the same time that you offer someone a product. For example, I order from your company, and with every shipment there's a lot of information. There's a whole catalog of what's new and what's interesting. |

The hubris that goes with that approach is something that definitely has been in the infancy of the raw food movement. People get very enthusiastic about healing, and it's not even necessarily just their physical healing that is taking place. |

Some might call it a raw foods diet, or a raw food vegan diet. I think those terms can freak people out. I don't consider myself a vegan, since I sometimes eat cooked fish. And I don't consider myself a full-time raw foodist, since I eat one cooked meal a day. But I believe whole-heartedly in the benefits of raw, living foods, and I totally support the philosophy and practice of veganism. But there are healthy vegans and then there are junk food vegans. I've seen people guzzling soda and eating chips, then calling themselves "vegans." Are you kidding me?

Amid all the incredible activities I've already mentioned, you can watch raw foods preparation demonstrations, listen to top authors speak about living foods nutrition, and enjoy a complimentary dinner plate featuring a unique and delicious raw sprout dish made with a spirulina superfoods dressing. I ate it up with a big purple smile! (Don't worry, the spirulina rinses right off your lips... |

Drinking raw food juices on a regular basis (freshly made in your own blender, not processed) greatly enhances clarity and the power of intention. Most spiritual leaders around the world follow diets based at least in part on raw foods. Following a raw foods diet for just 30 days will dramatically clear your senses and turn you into a powerful broadcaster of intention.
Vegetarian foods: Avoiding the consumption of meat and dairy products is also an important way to keep your system clear and lend power to your intention. |

This is a truly delightful raw food bar that's not just organic and raw, it's also vegan and certified Kosher. I took one bite of the Cherry Cashew flavor and immediately had a taste flashback to grandma's super-sweet cherry cobbler. Except in this case, there's no sugar, no refined grains, and none of the junk found in cherry pie recipes. Just pure ingredients in the Pure Bar.
The Apple Cinnamon bar tastes like apple pie. I'm not kidding. I think it's the addition of the brown rice protein (my top recommended plant-based protein source) that creates a pie crust taste. It's out of this world. |

On one side, there's the dissociation that people experience between the food in the earth; then on the other side, through raw food or through spiritual recognition of this, there's the connection with the earth. What are your thoughts on this issue and what practical benefits can exist from having that connection? |
| I'm a lifestyle and wellness coach, so I've worked with people a lot, one-on-one, who are going through life changes, and they're looking for a change in their health because of this, the raw food lifestyle. The living food lifestyle helps people in so many different ways. They begin to feel so wonderful that they simply cannot go back to living the way they used to. For me, I was a pre-law student, and I got out of college and was working at an intellectual property law firm. It was one of the best in the country. |
| He's had numerous restaurants and plenty of success, and is now embracing the raw food challenge and doing quite well at it. I had an incredible triple-layer chocolate cheesecake that was outstanding. I mean, that's when people can eat a meal and just say "wow" with every bite. It becomes nothing less than a religion, or at least a beautiful ceremony where you're able to indulge in the richness of life and the rewards of being able to eat together and enjoy food together. That's what the feast really is to ourselves; it's really our experience. |
| When I learned about the health benefits of raw food, I was excited about it, but at the same time, I had a very active life in Seattle. My boyfriend and I would go out to dinner no less than five nights a week, and I was vegetarian but I would always have wine with a meal. There's just a great dining scene in Seattle. We had plenty of friends there, and we liked to spend time with them. |
| What's really amazing about our raw food right now is that you're bringing the awareness of light. You're bringing in chlorophyll; you are bringing that transcending connection between the heavens and the earth – the rain, the soil, stars, the sun and the minerals. You're bringing that entire fantastic interplay into your body; you're ingesting that all the time. That's a language; that's a code; that's a sophisticated biofeedback mechanism that our bodies ingest and that our bodies read, we could say, in some ways. Sure, you can read that for amino acids. |
