 Petroleum: If there is a history of rough, dry skin that festers easily and heals very slowly, petroleum is helpful. Affected areas itch and burn, and skin eruptions tend to settle in folds of skin. Itchiness is so severe that the skin may be broken and bleed as a result of compulsive scratching. This leads to hard, thick crusts developing over sore areas.

By the 14th day, most of the Aloe gel treated burn areas were completely healed. The mean healing time for the Aloe gel group was 11.89 days, the time for the petroleum jelly group was 18.18 days (p<0.002). |
