| Mike: Many pet owners say, "Well that is going to get very expensive for me to keep buying these vitamins." But have they ever checked what it costs to put a dog in a pet emergency room because they are about to go into a coma from diabetes or low blood sugar? That is about a thousand dollars a day.
Dr. Liers: Certainly, people have short-sighted views and they respond to their conditioning. It is the same with drinking and cigarettes. You do not have money to pay the rent and do other things, but you have money for those habits that you have. That is conditioned response. |

| Deceased pets were and are being "recycled" into pet food unbeknownst to most pet owners.
In 1992, when I first notified veterinarians in Ontario as well as the general Canadian public via a live radio show explaining that euthanized pets were being sent to rendering facilities in Quebec, the public outcry was tremendous. Veterinarians immediately cancelled their contracts with the dead-stock removal company and the euthanized pets were sent to the local humane society, which operates a cremation facility.

| Some veterinarians, including Lynn Nelson in Santa Monica, California, stated that about 50 percent of pet owners want their pets cremated. For the owners who do not want cremation, a company picks up the dead pets once a week from the vet clinic and delivers them to a rendering plant.
The shelters I corresponded with had a little different perspective. Most were aware that the company they contracted with trucked the animals to rendering plants. Few vet clinics or shelters have their own cremation facility. |
