Food Scam: Almond Board of California to falsely label pasteurized almonds as ) |
| Once these elements are exposed to high temperatures (through pasteurization or other methods), these nutritional qualities are irreversibly degraded, rendering the almond deficient in the nutrients it had when it was first harvested. This degradation of health-enhancing nutrients has the result of contributing to nutritional deficiencies and imbalances in North American consumers -- people who are already in a state of chronic nutritional deficiency due to the consumption of other processed foods. |
| Two issues need to be reversed
There are really two important issues here that need to be reversed in order for the almond industry to regain any real credibility with consumers:
1) The ruling requiring the mandatory pasteurization or fumigation of all almonds needs to be rescinded. Raw almonds represent no legitimate health risk whatsoever to consumers. (There's far more e.coli in meat products, and you don't see the U.S. government banning raw meat, do you?)
2) The labeling of pasteurized almonds as "raw" needs to be stopped. |
| This most recent example concerns the new rules by the Almond Board of California (ABC) and backed by the USDA to mandate the pasteurization of all commercially-grown almonds in California with substances that include highly toxic propylene oxide (PPO). As reported by the Health Freedom Foundation, propylene oxide is so toxic that it was "...banned by both the National Hot Rod and American Motorcycle Racing Associations, where it had been used as a fuel before being deemed too dangerous. |

But for today, pasteurization has been announced by the FDA to mean the bombarding of food matter with high energy radiation. If this all seems rather extraneous, that's because it is. pasteurization could just as easily be declared next week to be the soaking of fresh produce in moose drool.
Again, please disregard the definitions of all words in the English language. Words are meaningless now in the food and drug industries. They only mean what their promoters want them to mean. |

| For instance, pasteurization uses heat to kill the valuable live enzymes in dairy products. Without these enzymes, dairy products can be toxic to your body, leading to allergies and other immune system problems.
If heat can kill the enzymes in raw foods during pasteurization, it will also kill them in the foods we cook. Raw living foods (loaded with nutrients and active enzymes) are much healthier than over-cooked foods devoid of any nutritional value. Fresh, raw foods such as fruits and vegetables help detoxify the colon and body naturally, thereby preventing disease. |

IGF-1 is the same in humans and cows and is not destroyed by pasteurization. In fact, the pasteurization process actually increases IGF-1 levels in milk.
I recommend that you avoid buying milk from cows treated with rBST, if possible. The hormone has become so widely used by dairy farmers that unless the milk label states "from cows not treated with rBST," you should assume that the milk contains the hormone. Most health-food stores sell rBST-free milk. American-made cheeses also contain rBST and excess levels of IGF-1 unless they're labeled "from cows not treated with rBST. |

Note well the reference to unpasteurized: pasteurization destroys microorganisms, sure, but it's a little like throwing out the baby with the bath water. pasteurization also destroys valuable heat-sensitive vitamins, enzymes, and organic acids like malic acid and tartaric acid, which are important in fighting body toxins and inhibiting unfriendly bacteria, and are some of the main reasons apple cider vinegar is a desert island cure in the first place.)
Apple cider vinegar is believed to have antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties. |

The USDA considered all comments before making the pasteurization rule final.
Since 2004, there has been extensive discussion, consultation with leading food safety experts, and consensus building resulting in this almond industry pasteurization program to meet its responsibility to consumers to provide the safest, healthiest product possible. The ABC understands consumers choose almonds for taste as well as for health reasons. The industry invested in independent nutritional and sensory analyses of pasteurized versus unpasteurized almonds. |

Food manufacturers use various heating processes to enhance flavor, color, and texture; to improve food safety (sterilization and pasteurization); and to extend shelf life. A byproduct of these processes, unfortunately, is often glycotoxins. Foods as varied as cola drinks, infant formulas, baked goods, caramel, and brewed products contain glycotoxins. Foods high in fat and protein (such as meat and poultry) typically have the highest glycotoxin levels. How you prepare your food (or have it prepared for you if you eat out) can also have a significant impact on the formation of glycotoxins. |

By "processed," I mean homogenized and pasteurized. The pasteurization kills all the beneficial microorganisms, and homogenization artificially modifies dairy fats in a way that ultimately harms the human cardiovascular system when consumed. Processed "mainstream" milk is also taken from dairy cows pumped up with antibiotics, rBGH (Bovine Growth Hormone) and usually treated very poorly in terms of ethics. Even the popular brands showing happy cows and claiming to be organic are under intense fire by the Organic Consumers Association (www.OrganicConsumers. |

That's unfortunate, since raw is always superior to pasteurized, but at least the pasteurization time is short enough to keep much of the original nutrition intact. From there, the low-temperature drying process preserves the nutrition, making it a far superior product to others that are dried using a high-temperature, long-duration process. Click here to read the technical details on the drying process. Still, the fact that the aloe is flash pasteurized does alter the taste a bit. It's not quite as good as raw aloe vera. As I've stated elsewhere, it's the "next best thing. |

This concept was formally known to rational people as "pasteurization," but will now be called "raw" according to USDA regulations.
If you connect the dots on all this, you come to the startling realization that irradiated, chemically treated nuts grown with pesticides will soon be labeled raw, organic nuts.
Why? Because raw = pasteurized and pasteurized = irradiated. Thus, raw = irradiated. Plus, conventionally grown = organic. |

April 4th letter from the Almond Board
The Almond Board of California, representing the California almond industry, has consumers’ health and safety as its number one priority as it implements an industry-wide pasteurization program. The purpose of this plan is to ensure that consumers are provided with safe, wholesome food products.
ABC, which spends more than $2 million annually on nutrition and food safety research, is proactively addressing the issues and needs of the consumer. |

| Naturally occurring live enzymes in milk, on the other hand, are eliminated by the pasteurization process, leaving behind nothing but a "dead" beverage with little to offer. Since the milk is pasteurized, very little if any of the calcium can be absorbed by the body.
[J DOCTOR'S NOTE:

Among the findings, the agency said that the rbGH in the milk of injected cows was degraded by commercial pasteurization. The sole research cited for this claim was that of a Canadian graduate student, whose master's thesis studied the feeding of rbGH-derived milk to calves (not humans). This study erroneously heated milk for 30 minutes at the 15-second pasteurization temperature.
Data suggest higher IGF-1 levels are found in rbGH-injected cows' milk, compared to normal milk. |

NewsTarget, "This mandatory almond pasteurization is an effort by the powers that be to limit access to healthy food. It is a serious attack on people's ability to eat what they want and support their health. In this important way, it deprives us of our basic rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is a serious incursion of rights for a trivial and preventable reason, this being that the [past] contamination of the almonds was from a single source. |

FDA scientists reported that 90% of the hormone was destroyed during pasteurization.222
Documents revealed that in order to show that rbGH injections did not interfere with fertility, industry researchers allegedly added cows to the study that were pregnant prior to injection.223
FDA Veterinarian Richard Burroughs described how industry researchers would often drop sick cows from studies, to make the drug appear safer. When Burroughs ordered more tests than the industry wanted, he was told by superiors he was slowing down the approval and was fired. |
| The researchers also "demonstrated that the pasteurization process is not able to degrade the DNA sequences in spiked milk samples."62 (The presence of the DNA may have come from GM feed that was fed to the cows, or possibly through contamination of the milk after it was produced.)
The high levels of herbicides used to treat herbicide-tolerant crops may also bioaccumulate in animals or humans. The inert ingredients in particular are fat soluble (nonionic), so they may be stored in cell membranes and other lipids in the body. Tests for these residues are not generally done. |

The Truth about pasteurization and Homogenization
So if hormones, steroids, and antibiotics weren't enough —and they are—the resultant milk is then pasteurized and homogenized. Both procedures destroy vitally important health-giving compounds in the milk. As Dr. Joe Mercola (www.mercola.com) accurately points out, "Pasteurizing milk destroys enzymes, diminishes vitamins, denatures fragile milk proteins, destroys vitamins B[2 and B6, kills beneficial bacteria and promotes pathogens."
Milk and Cancer? |
| Because it isn't subjected to the high heat of pasteurization, those good bacteria—along with wonderful beneficial enzymes— aren't destroyed. And according to Dr. Joe Mercola, raw milk is the finest source of calcium available.
Raw milk virtually always comes from grass-fed cows. Milk from grass-fed cows contains higher levels of cancer-fighting CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) and will be richer in the full gamut of vitamins and minerals. Vitally important nutrients like vitamins A and D are greatest in milk from cows eating green grass. |
