In this article, I will be discussing the PYY3-36 Appetite Control nasal spray made by a company called Nastech. This is an upcoming prescription drug product still in Phase II testing that could someday offer tremendous potential to help people lose weight. But it's not all smooth sailing yet; there are some potential dangers and pitfalls along the way. Those will be discussed here as well.
The first thing to realize about this Nastech product is that it's not really a prescription drug at all, in my view. |
| What about the PYY3-36 nasal spray? Is it a good drug?
Well, that depends on how you use it. And unfortunately, the way it is likely to be used by most Americans is as a replacement for making healthy lifestyle changes. And again, this is unfortunate, and it's no fault of the drug itself. It is a cultural issue and an issue of personal discipline and personal responsibility. A lot of people will say, "This is great! I can just take this drug, inhale it three times a day, and I will automatically lose weight. |
| This is the promise of the Nastech PYY3-36 nasal spray, and it is potentially a very promising treatment for obesity (and would even help those with diabetes as well). In fact, this could potentially become a huge success as a prescription drug. It could be a blockbuster seller.
But now let's look at some of the problems this product could bring to the forefront if it becomes a huge success. The first problem, as far as I see it, is that the Nastech company has chosen to partner up with Merck as its marketing and distribution partner. |

Clear your sinus passages: Peppermint oil, Afrin™ nasal spray and steam inhalation can all reduce inflammation and encourage mucus to drain from your sinuses.
Antibiotics: Amoxicillin, Septra™, erythromycin, or ceftin can be used to treat sinusitis. If there is no improvement after one week, try a more potent antibiotic such as augmentin or levofloxin. Antibiotics should be used for at least 14 days. A four- to eight-week course is sometimes prescribed in chronic cases.
Warning: A complication of sinusitis called periorbital cellulitis requires immediate medical attention. |

Weiner and his team say they hope to begin small-scale testing of the Alzheimer's nasal spray vaccine in people following talks with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). They note that the human trial process will take time, so a nasal Alzheimer's vaccine is, at best, several years away from clinical use.
Weiner notes that although there are a number of different research projects currently exploring the possibility of reducing beta-amyloid buildup in the brain, none has yet been shown to work in people. |

I suspect that the much-hyped PYY3-36 nasal spray, produced by a company called NasTech, might offer another realistic appetite suppressant solution. But that product is only in trials right now, and it won't even be available on the market for several years. It's also a drug, meaning you'd need a prescription, which makes it a lot more difficult to get than hoodia gordonii. So don't put any short-term hopes on the PYY nasal spray. Right now, hoodia gordonii is probably the best thing going. |

This product was a nasal spray, which would be more in accordance with the thought that there is some homeopathic element to it. Maybe that is not the exact word to describe it, but if the body just gets a sense of a little bit of it, it says, "Whoopee! Now we can go into business."
Dr. Frank spoke about this at length. He knew that the RNA was not going in, but he knew the results he was getting. He was saying that same thing. Sometimes you can get a few percent in across the gut. It is like chondroitin sulfate. People said, "No, you never get any in. |

It can be prepared as a compress to treat eye inflam-matino or mastitis, as a gargle to treat throat infection, as a nasal spray to treat sinus infection, or as a tea used as a douche or sitz bath to treat Candida, chlamydia, leukorrhea, and trichomonas.
Usnea, though sometimes used as a tea, is more effective as a tincture. In a wilderness situation where tea or tincture is unavailable, usnea can simply be chewed and swallowed.
Edible Uses
Usnea is edible, though it is so bitter that it would be considered for consumption only in emergencies. |

At least ten cases have been reported of people with previously normal sense of smell who experienced severe or complete loss of smell function after using intranasal zinc gluconate. In some cases the loss of smell was long-lasting or permanent. |

Like so many other live virus vaccines, the nasal spray flu vaccine called FluMist contains MSG in the form of monosodium glutamate. Monosodium glutamate is described as a "mutagen and reproductive effector" by the Centers for Disease Control in their Registry of Toxic Effects of Chemical Substances.
More and more personal care products that are labeled "organic" actually contain free glutamic acid (MSG). Soon soaps, shampoos, and other body care products will have glutamate surfactants in them, as well as products that contain hydrolyzed proteins. |

With pernicious anemia, Vitamin B12 must be injected or absorbed through membranes directly into the bloodstream via a nasal spray or absorbed from under the tongue.
It may take several years to develop deficiency symptoms as vitamin B |2 is efficiently recycled. Whether the deficiency is from poor absorption or from a diet low in animal products, onset of symptoms is typically slow.
Folate cannot be properly utilized if vitamin B12 is low or absent. This is because vitamin B]2 is needed to convert methyl folate to its active form. |

TIP: USE A HUMIDIFIER
Use a cool-mist humidifier. Moist air can help clear the mucus in your nasal passages. Also try resting a towel or washcloth that has been wrung out with hot water over your face for a few minutes. It can stimulate blood circulation, loosen mucus, and relieve pain.
HOMEOPATHY
Any of the following homeopathic remedies can help ease the pain of recently developed bouts of sinusitis and encourage the condition to resolve itself speedily. |

| REPPED: Simple Nasal Vaccine May Slow Alzheimer's
Researchers think they are close to devising a deceptively simple way to prevent the progression of Alzheimer's disease— nasal spray vaccine. The vaccine, which so far has only been tested on mice, is a combination of two medications— Protollin and glatiramer acetate (Copaxone), which has already been approved to treat other conditions, including multiple sclerosis (MS).
The spray targets the abnormal buildup of beta-amyloid plaque in the brain. |

Elizabeth Taylor acknowledged a steady diet of Valium and Jack Daniel's, and Tammy Faye Bakker, televangelist Jim Bakker's wife, admitted her addiction to Valium, which she took— very inventively, I might add—by means of a nasal spray solution. In response to such revelations, the U.S. Senate conducted hearings on tranquilizer addiction in 1979.20 And as quickly as Valium rose, it fell. Sales plummeted in the early 1980s. Valium is now the forty-first most prescribed generic drug in America. |

Maybe we will see a revolutionary approach to fat loss at some point in the future (perhaps the PYY appetite control nasal spray, for example), but chances are that medical researchers will continue to be baffled by the human body's multiple, redundant calorie accumulation mechanisms that have so far made it impossible to develop a safe, effective fat loss wonder drug. |
