That's what causes the characteristic foaming at the mouth—the inability to swallow makes the animal's mouth froth with, not coincidentally, rabies-filled saliva. By the time the animal is foaming at the mouth, the virus will most likely have infected its host's brain, where it chemically induces the animal to feel higher and higher levels of agitation and aggression. When animals are agitated and aggressive, they bite. When their mouths are foaming with rabies-filled saliva, their bites are infectious. |

In fact, the mouth of the average consumer is so toxic that ocean creatures should be warning each other about eating humans. To consume a human being, to put it bluntly, would be extremely unhealthy for any animal. Humans carry the highest concentration of toxic chemicals of all creatures on the planet. Their livers, hearts, kidneys and brains are so heavily contaminated with hundreds of different synthetic chemicals that if humans were slaughtered as a meat source, they'd never pass USDA food safety standards. (Soylent Green, anyone?)

It rises to affect what comes out of our mouths, but we need to treat more than what the mouth is doing. The mouth, in short, is following the imprint.
If we have terror stored in our systems, then certain phobias seem normal, or at least comfortable for the system. There are hand-washing compulsives who are comfortable that way and would not dream of changing, nor could they. The ritual binds the pain. Deep feelings rise to the level of behavior and drive compulsions. A prominent comedian who cannot touch doorknobs says he is fine the way he is and would not want to change. |

Angry bite plus infected saliva equals new host, which means survival and reproduction for the virus. The origin of "foaming at the mouth" as an idiom for angry and aggressive behavior isn't the only piece of culture we've gotten from rabies. |

All she had to do was keep her mouth full of saliva and keep repeating to herself, "My leg is anesthetized." An affirmation like hers is another form of intention. A dry mouth is one of the mind's first warning signals of danger. When the mouth is kept lubricated, the brain relaxes, assumes all is well, and turns off its pain receptors, assured that anesthetics have been given.60
A fascinating study by David Spiegel, a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford University, offers a glimpse of what happens to the brain when an intention is given under hypnosis. |

It's a chemical reaction occurring right in your mouth while you brush your teeth. And don't think you are safe once you rinse it all out of your mouth: research shows that it can remain in your mouth after brushing for up to 12 hours, and can be easily absorbed into the tongue and through mucus into the body. (Children are at the greatest risk, as they tend to swallow their toothpaste more while brushing their teeth. |

You have large amounts of bacteria in your colon and rectum but very little in the mouth and stomach. If your stomach is functioning normally and producing acid that's not blocked by medications, much of the bacteria in your food is killed before it can enter the small intestine.
Limiting the growth of bacteria in the small intestine are gallbladder bile acids, pancreatic enzymes, and rapid transit. The movement of food from your mouth to your anus takes two to three days, but only four to six hours of this time are spent between the mouth and the entrance to the colon. |

However, riboflavin deficiency can cause inflammation of the membranes of the eyes, the mouth, the skin, and the gastrointestinal tract. This condition is called ariboflavinosis (the prefix "a-" means without and the suffix "-osis" means disease). Riboflavin deficiency also can cause sensitivity to light. Cracks on the side of the mouth are another possible sign of riboflavin deficiency.
The best sources for riboflavin are whole grains and green leafy vegetables; please refer to Graph 1-2. Spinach, broccoli, chard, and asparagus are all rich sources of riboflavin. |

At that moment, I truly thought that he was going to die, but somewhere during all of the chaos I stuck my hand in his mouth (making sure he didn't swallow his tongue), and the infamous "Two-Point" popped into my head. Like a prayer to God, I put my hands (after removing one from his mouth) on his head and back, and pictured him running around like he normally did. Within two or three minutes he started to lightly pant, still wobbly and falling over, though. In less than ten minutes he went back to his normal behavior. |

The movement of food from your mouth to your anus takes two to three days, but only four to six hours of this time are spent between the mouth and the entrance to the colon. This means that your digested food spends about two days in the colon and rectum, and that's where all the bacteria selected in the first part of digestion can begin to grow.
Your immune system has a delicate relationship with these bacteria that starts at birth, when bacteria are introduced to your intestine. |

I briefly considered using an intra-oral cranial technique, where you put your hand in the mouth and lift up on the plates of the skull to move it in that direction. That might have worked except that she was a three-year-old. I knew from a painful experience with my own son that if you stick your hand in a child's mouth it can scare them, and in response they tend to bite.
As I checked my conceptual bag of doctor's skills, I discerned no likely alternative. Maybe I was crazy, but I decided to go with the game plan of the big guy in blue with the red cape. |

Galvanism with other metals in the mouth, such as gold or bridgework, can accelerate this process. Galvanism is a process by which a "battery" effect is created in the mouth when different kinds of metals come in contact with each other and saliva. This produces an electrical current that flows though the body and breaks down the amalgam, releasing higher levels of mercury vapor, and in some cases causing headaches, pain, and tremors. Dental bleaching can make this situation worse because bleaching agents can further increase the release of mercury from those fillings over time. |

In the New Testament, Jesus says, "Man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth forth from the mouth of God." "The mouth of God" is a metaphor for the medullar center, and "word" is a metaphor for universal life force (the Holy Spirit). Jesus was trying to tell his followers the life force in the body is a function of universal super-conscious energy flow through the medullar center and not simply a function of the energy ingested through food. |

Xylitol looks and tastes just like sugar to you, but in your mouth, xylitol actually inhibits the acid production by bacteria that would normally be working to create cavities in your mouth when they consume sugar.
By chewing on xylitol, you’re actually causing these bacteria in your mouth to tire out and eventually die before they can actually produce acid. See, they think xylitol is sugar, so they go to work on it. But it's not sugar, so they can't metabolize it in the way they would metabolize sugar, and as a result they finally just wear out and die. |

He answered him and said, "O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me." Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth.
So He asked his father, "How long has this been happening to him?" And he said, "From childhood. |

Overgrowth of the Streptococcus bacteria, or even reflux of stomach acid into the oral cavity, can result in an acidic state in the mouth. The pH in the mouth, however, does not reflect the pH level in other organs in the body.
A neutral pH is automatically maintained through blood circulation. If pH were dependent upon what humans eat, a state of acidosis or alkalosis would likely be common and require frequent trips to the hospital. In fact, the body continually maintains pH in the blood within a very tight range (7.35-7.45). |

However, doctors contend it's the body's way of trying to correct structural problems in the mouth. Nocturnal chewing action may be an attempt to grind upper and lower teeth for a better fit. Teeth-grinding may also be the result of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) syndrome. Dentists often prescribe a mouth guard; although it doesn't eliminate the grinding instinct, it does protect the teeth from damage.

If salt creates a savory and watery feeling in the mouth, then it is still ionic. If it dries the mouth, this suggests that it has converted to the less assimilable covalent form. Although larger mineral forms or covalently bonded salt may help us initially on one level, eventually they have the potential of building up to toxic overload.
Paradoxically, one of the most effective ways to pull out these accumulated minerals is to provide the same mineral in angstrom-size. |

The whole digestive system starts to work as soon as a bite of food enters the mouth. The process of chewing mashes the food into smaller, more manageable pieces. Meanwhile, an enzyme called amylase, contained in saliva, begins the chemical breakdown of carbohydrates into simple sugars. If you chew a piece of bread or other starchy food long enough, you'll notice a sweet taste when the starch is turned into sugar by the amylase. Next, the food is swallowed; that is, it travels down the throat and the esophagus, a tube that connects the throat to the stomach. |

Modern life has given us smaller particles than humans ever encountered before, which can pass through cell walls. Those who grow up playing hard in polluted air, like Li Dou, who was a basketball star in China, develop lungs that are especially strong and also stippled with soot. Air goes in and out all the time. The smallest of particles enter and stay. Lungs that grow up dirty tend to blacken over time. |

Black-hearted, brilliant-yellow daisies sprouting straight through wooden planks told anyone with half a brain to stay off. |
