The double standard
Interestingly, meat products are not required to be cooked before being sold, despite the numerous outbreaks of e.coli in meat that are announced each year. Why aren't hamburgers outlawed or raw meat products banned?
It is also interesting that there is absolutely no effort by state or federal regulators to remove the additives and ingredients in foods that kill consumers through cancer, heart disease, diabetes and liver disorders. |

This caused a concern, since I would never be caught dead buying processed meat products, and certainly not in a Wal-Mart. I was worried that a NewsTarget reader might spot me buying this garbage food, snap a camera photo, and I'd end up all over the internet holding a package of Oscar Mayer hot dogs with that deer-in-the-headlights look...
So -- get this -- I put on a hat and sunglasses and actually stealthed my way through the Wal-Mart store, trying to buy these processed meat products without getting noticed! |

This macrophotography project is intended to show consumers exactly what they're really swallowing when they eat these processed meat products.
WARNING: The detail in these photos is astonishing, and many people will likely be grossed out or sickened by viewing them. Do not view them if you've just eaten processed meats!
LEGAL DISCLAIMER: Nothing in these photos is intended to imply that these processed meat products do not meet FDA or USDA regulations. I have no doubt these products meet all minimum government requirements for human consumption. |
| I believe that most consumers who eat processed meat products do so blindly, without really thinking about what they're eating and where it came from. This macrophotography project is intended to show consumers exactly what they're really swallowing when they eat these processed meat products.

Because it removes their guilt for driving SUVs, eating meat products and spraying pesticides on their lawns. Somehow, buying a little corn ethanol and a few packages of paper plates puts it all back into balance for these people -- folks who live remarkably unsustainable lifestyles that would require five Earths to support if everyone lived that way. Simply eating meat products is so destructive to the environment that you could actually do more to reduce global warming by going vegetarian than by ditching your car. |

While I can marginally tolerate the consumption of organic, free range meat products from animals that are ethically raised and honorably slaughtered, I am adamantly opposed to modern factory farms (cattle feedlots, chicken lots, etc.) as well as the use of toxic, cancer-causing additives in processed meat products. As I've covered in previous articles here on NewsTarget, processed meats are linked to an increase in various cancers, including pancreatic cancers, brain tumors and colon cancers. Feeding hot dogs to children, in my opinion, is a form of child cruelty. |

For those consumers who still choose to purchase meat, Adams urges them to check the ingredients labels for "sodium nitrite" -- the chemical additive that many researchers believe to be responsible for much of the increased cancer risk of processed meat products. "Eating sodium nitrite is quite simply dangerous to your health," Adams said. "Consumers who still want to eat meat products should look for nitrite-free meats, which are often available in the frozen foods or natural foods section of a grocery store. |

It is also interesting that there is absolutely no effort by state or federal regulators to remove the additives and ingredients in foods that kill consumers through cancer, heart disease, diabetes and liver disorders. Sodium nitrite, for example, remains perfectly legal to add to processed meat products, even though it substantially increases the risk of pancreatic cancer, colon cancer and even breast cancer. |

REPPED: Yesterday I posted shocking macrophotography pictures of processed meat products. Since then, over a quarter of a million people have viewed the photos in the first 24 hours, and word has spread all over the internet about these sick, graphic images of processed meats. I've already received numerous complaints of people vomiting (I'm not kidding)! More importantly, however, I've also received many comments from people who say they are no longer going to eat processed meat products at all. They're either opting for fresh meats or thinking about going vegetarian. |

Boycott Processed Meat Products
Adams urges all shoppers to boycott processed meat products this Christmas season, opting instead for eco-friendly, all-natural gifts such as superfoods from companies like www.Sunfood.com or www.TransitionNutrition.com or www.GoodCauseWellness.com
Adams also reminds consumers that if they give gifts made of processed meats, they are indirectly giving people an increased risk of pancreatic cancer and colon cancer. "Giving someone a gift of processed meat is actually more like a curse than a gift," Adams said. |

Their conclusion, published in the World Cancer Research Fund's report, Food, Nutrition, Physical Activity and the Prevention of Cancer: a Global Perspective (2007), has rocked the health world with a declaration that all people should immediately stop buying and eating processed meat products and that all processed meat should be avoided for life!
Processed meats, the report explains, are simply too dangerous for human consumption. And why? |

Vegetarian mothers who consume no meat products during their pregnancy, and therefore have a low-taurine diet, as well as others on a protein-, methionine-, or vitamin Bf—deficient diet might be at particular risk.116
Although dietary deficiency of taurine has not been demonstrated to impact fetal developmerit in humans, researchers recommend that vegetarian women who intend to have children optimize dietary levels of protein and vitamin B6, since there is no taurine present in plants and vegetables. |

Hot dogs
Hot dogs are made with horrifying processed meat parts (click here to see shocking photos of processed meat products, then preserved with a cancer-causing ingredient called sodium nitrite. As detailed in my book Grocery Warning, this ingredient causes brain tumors in children, not to mention leukemia, pancreatic cancer, colon cancer and other cancers. Hot dogs are far more dangerous to a child's health than lead paint in my opinion, and yet parents keep feeding them to their children!
4. Antibacterial soap
How about a little nerve toxin in your soap? |
| Bacon
Most bacon and sausage are processed meat products made with sodium nitrite (like the hot dogs, above) and contaminated with various chemicals lodged in the animal fats. Conventionally-raised beef, pork and chicken products are, in my opinion, extremely toxic to the human body and contribute to colon cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer and many other diseases and disorders. If you make meat for your children, shop for 100% organic, free-range, antibiotic-free meats that have no nitrites or nitrates.

Both the video and the website are intended to educate consumers about processed meat products, encouraging them to make healthful food choices when shopping for groceries or consuming food items.
Non-processed meat is healthier than processed meats due to the absence of preservative chemicals such as sodium nitrite. Free-range, organic meats are even better, and eliminating meats from the diet is an ideal choice for many people who are wishing to maximize personal health while greatly reducing the environmental impact of the foods they consume. |

The Mediterranean diet, perhaps one of the healthiest diets in the world, emphasizes increased fiber, olive oil, fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes and decreased refined cereals, meat products, eggs, and saturated fats. This diet has been shown to have a beneficial effect on cardiovascular health in a number of large studies.156 The Mediterranean diet has also been shown to have beneficial effects on risk factors for cardiovascular disease and may even exceed that of the low-fat diet. |

Using a special macro lens and camera flash unit, Adams was able to capture the Yard-O-Beef product in astonishing detail: Black specs emerge with frightening clarity, fat blobs ooze out of tissue caves, and string-like tissue strands seem to be reaching skyward from the surface of the meat products. The images were so frightening that Adams mixed a collage of the photos with a trash beat music track and posted the video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch? |

But when you avoid meat products and focus on a plant-based diet, you are creating a future filled of abundance and health. It's up to you to decide which of these futures you'd rather create.
Regardless of which future you choose, there's no judgement from me. You're free to do what you want with your life and your own body. Some people choose to abuse their bodies as chemical playgrounds, living in the moment and dying young. That's their choice. Others choose to extend their lives and honor their bodies, living an extended, purpose-filled life. That's fine, too. |

Virtually all processed meat products contain sodium nitrite, Adams says, and that chemical additive has been linked to pancreatic cancer, colon cancer and breast cancer. The World Cancer Research Fund recently completed a review of over 5,000 studies on the link between meat consumption and cancer, concluding that there is no safe level of processed meat consumption and that all consumers should avoid processed meat forever (unless they want cancer). |

Essentially, dead meat products look and taste dead (because they are), so meat companies use the following three ingredients to make them look fresh and taste interesting:
Sodium nitrite makes the meat look red and fresh. (But it promotes cancer.)
MSG makes the meat taste savory. (But it causes neurological disorders.)
Processed salt makes the meat taste more interesting. (But it causes nutritional problems and high blood pressure. |
| To protect yourself from these dangerous processed food products, here are the action steps to take:
1) Check the ingredients of all processed meat products in your refrigerator and pantry. Throw out any products containing sodium nitrite or MSG (monosodium glutamate).
2) Inform your spouse, roomates or children of what you're doing and why you're doing it. Show them the sodium nitrite right on the label of the products as you throw them out. Let them know that the World Cancer Research Fund now recommends that ALL consumers avoiding eating processed meats for life! |
| Boycott all processed meat products for life! Never buy processed meats again. That includes shopping at the grocery store, eating at a restaurant or consuming foods at a social event.
4) Spread the word. Tell others about the dangers of sodium nitrite. Print out the Honest Food Guide (www.HonestFoodGuide.com) and share it, if you want. Let people know that processed meats are dangerous for their health.
What's next: The future of processed meats
My research tells me that chemical additives in processed meats are emerging as the next big food safety issue to hit mainstream awareness. |
| Why some people commit nutritional suicide
Of course, many low-income, low-education consumers still continue to smoke cigarettes AND eat processed meat products. (Attend any NASCAR event and you'll find a whole crowd of 'em!) But the smart consumers (who represent the real future of human civilization, by the way) are wising up and increasingly opting for healthier foods made without dangerous chemicals.
There are people in society today who exhibit a strong desire to commit nutritional suicide. |

Sodium nitrite, for example, is added to most processed meat products. Yet it directly promotes pancreatic cancer, brain tumors, leukemia, colon cancer and probably many other types of cancer. So why does the U.S. government allow food companies to use this known cancer-causing ingredient? Because it's all about profits. The chemical boosts sales of processed meat because it turns the meat bright red. It's a color fixer. But it kills countless Americans each year from cancers that are completely preventable.
Why should this ingredient continue to be allowed in the food supply? |

They are best eaten steamed or lightly cooked so that they retain nutrients and fiber. Eat meat products once a day only, or make sure they are organic and free range, and are hormone- and antibiotic-free. Eat plenty of high-yielding proteins—especially those that are high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as cold-water fish. Raw almonds, walnuts, and pumpkin seeds are a good source of skin-healthy vitamin E and essential fatty acids. If you are taking antibiotics, eat plenty of unsweetened cultured foods such as kefir, yogurt, and raw cabbage. |
