Mainstream media criticizes Wikipedia because it represents a decentralization of their information monopoly

REPPED: The mainstream media loves to bash Wikipedia, that enormous online encyclopedia created through the collaborative efforts of volunteer writers and researchers. It covers tens of thousands of topics, and is consistently an excellent source of information on everything ranging from world history to new terminology in the technology industry. I use Wikipedia frequently. It's no surprise that the mainstream media loves to bash Wikipedia.
The media portrays the idea that Wikipedia is inaccurate when, in fact, I find Wikipedia to be far more accurate than the mainstream media. Your average newspaper is mostly just a collection of reprinted press releases, propaganda pieces from advertisers and recycled newswire articles that the employees of that paper didn't write in the first place. They didn't bother to do any fact checking or even add anything to it. Most newspapers aren't even in the business of gathering news anymore.
Look at the hype over "Restless Leg Syndrome" for an example of the disease mongering carried out by the mainstream media. I'm not saying that the New York Times, USA Today, The Washington Post or other newspapers never engage in real journalism -- clearly they do from time to time. Those papers have occasionally produced some really outstanding stories and true investigative reports, and for that, they are to be applauded. But shouldn't that be what newspapers are entirely focused on doing? Shouldn't these national newspapers be held to the highest standards of journalism?

Medicine's assault on calcium: Quack science fuels calcium bashing frenzy

The science illiteracy of the mainstream media Of course, the facts of this study certainly did not get in the way of the mainstream media, which published all sorts of denigrating stories about calcium, even questioning, "Should people stop taking calcium?" Apparently, science illiteracy is so widespread in the mainstream media that reporters can't even decipher the basics of a scientific study. The very concept of a control group is completely foreign to many reporters in the U.S. press.

Behind the scenes at Natural Products Expo West - A "brutally honest" Health Ranger Review

If you read the mainstream media, everybody's happy, happy, happy about the show and the industry as a whole, but if you go there yourself and ask questions as an independent, skeptical journalist, you get the rest of the story. And that's what I'll share with you here: A behind-the-scenes look at Expo West. Here's what you'll never read in the mainstream media. To get started, however, I do have to compliment the New Hope staff and show organizers. Even with some of the grumbling from vendors I'm about to reveal here, the show was, in my opinion, a huge success.

Health news from a parallel universe (satire)

Every news item mentioned here is factual news that has been reported in the mainstream media this past week, right here on planet Earth. Not a single story here is fictional. This is even more astonishing than the idea that there is an alternate universe named Allopathia! Because, you see, the shocker here is not that things are upside-down and insane in some other fictional place, but rather that things are insane right here, right now! The mainstream media has lost its marbles.

Antioxidants, bad science and failure of the press to tell the truth

Mike Adams, the Health Ranger

There is no scrutiny of the study's findings, no critical thinking and absolutely no independent journalism being conducted by the mainstream media on this particular topic. It's as if these media outlets just can't wait to be spoon-fed the latest propaganda from drug company collaborators and then parrot it out to the public as fact. The distortion in question concerns the assessment of women who participated in a nine year trial measuring the effects of vitamins E and C.
The mainstream media has taken hold of this statistical distortion and declared that antioxidants are now useless for preventing heart disease. Utterly ignoring the fact that the vitamins worked remarkably well in those who actually took them, the media now seems to be on a crusade to discredit nutritional supplements by lying to its readers.
Here are some of the headlines that appeared yesterday in the mainstream media. As you read these, keep in mind that these are stories based on a study that actually found significant protective benefits for those women who took the antioxidants: WebMD Antioxidants Don't Lower Heart Risk FOX News Study: Antioxidants Do Not Protect High-Risk Women from Heart Disease Xinhua, China Antioxidants cut no heart disease rate in high-risk women Scotsman, United Kingdom Nutrients 'do not cut heart risks among vulnerable' CTV.
You can fully expect the internet to be increasingly attacked and discredited by the mainstream media, which continues to lose readers and viewers by the day. It is only the internet that offers any real hope of reform or revolution in the years ahead. Intelligent people saved this country once already (from Great Britain), and I believe it is possible they may do so once again, but certainly not if they're all doped up on antidepressant drugs. Finally, I have to wonder, what good is a free press if it's a false press?
REPPED: Following yesterday's announcement of a new study showing the phenomenal benefits of antioxidants for preventing heart disease in women, the mainstream media rallied behind a blatantly false distortion of the study designed to convince the public that vitamins E and C are somehow useless. The popular press, which maintains an incestuous relationship with the pharmaceutical industry, once again demonstrates it is little more than a mouthpiece for the pro-pharma propaganda machine.

Gunpoint medicine: Teenager arrested, jailed for refusing TB treatment at hospital

Update: The mainstream media is reporting today that Santos has finally agreed to start taking synthetic chemical medications while sitting in jail. Gee, what a choice, huh? "Here, take these medications or rot in your jail cell." That's the choice Santos has been given. What an incredible system of medicine we live under today, huh?

NewsTarget readers demand retractions from major media outlets over erroneous reporting of antioxidant study

Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
See article keywords and concepts
REPPED: When the mainstream media refuses to print the truth about a significant study detailing the health benefits of antioxidants and, instead, parrots the erroneous conclusions of a pro-pharmaceutical medical association, it's time for citizens to take a stand and demand accountability.
Yet the American Medical Association issued a press release implying that the study found antioxidants to be of no use whatsoever, and the mainstream media ran that as de facto news without bothering to assess whether the opinion of the AMA was, in fact, true. (And apparently without actually reading the study in question.) The American Medical Association is a pro-pharmaceutical group with a dubious history of promoting extremely dangerous and deadly products. It has taken millions of dollars from tobacco companies, for example, to promote cigarettes in its medical journal (JAMA).
What's shocking in all this is just how blindly the mainstream media swallowed the AMA's opinion on the facts of the study. According to virtually all the headlines printed in major media outlets, this study found vitamins E and C to be utterly worthless in preventing cardiovascular disease and stroke. And yet, in reality, the study proved that those women who actually took the vitamins were protected to such a high degree than almost no pharmaceutical on the market can match their success!
It seems as if nobody at Fox News, ABC News, Reuters, CNN and other media outlets even bothered to read the actual study beyond the abstract summary. The mainstream media has failed the American people yet again. Rather than investigating the story and printing the truth, they have simply repeated misleading information put out by an organization with an obvious pro-pharma agenda. Some might say these media outlets know exactly what they're doing: They, too, earn billions of dollars each year from drug company advertisements.
Rather, I hope to simply wake them up to the fact that intelligent readers won't put up with lazy journalism that refuses to ask fundamental questions before reporting the "facts" on significant scientific studies. The mainstream media needs to be reminded, from time to time, that readers are not going to sit back and just swallow blatant falsehoods. Please join me in taking action now to contact these media outlets and demand a retraction of their original reporting on this antioxidant study.

Because, you see, the shocker here is not that things are upside-down and insane in some other fictional place, but rather that things are insane right here, right now! The mainstream media has lost its marbles. The FDA is irreversibly corrupt, and the USDA remains hopelessly ignorant about the one thing it's supposed to regulate: Food! Ideas that would have been considered downright idiotic a decade ago (like labeling pasteurized foods as "raw") are now openly pushed onto the public.

So we have a conspiratorial trio now working in concert to keep you stupid and diseased: The mainstream media (which takes billions of dollars each year from drug companies), the drug companies (which earn billions of dollars each year selling advertised drugs), and the FDA (which enforces the monopoly and eliminates competition by censoring truthful information about dietary supplements). It is this trio which explains why Americans now pay the highest prices in the world for health care and yet are simultaneously the most diseased people of any industrialized nation in the world.

And yet somehow, the drug companies, government regulators and mainstream media have accomplished the impossible: They've managed to get most of the population to believe they need chemicals to be healthy and that nutrition will kill them. Bravo. It's one of the most elaborate (and successful) mind-warps in history.

FDA officials. The mainstream media is asleep at the wheel on this one. A State of fear It makes you wonder: Why do American citizens tolerate such corruption these days? Why are people so afraid to question their government? The answer, of course, is that America has been turned into a police state nation, where the population is controlled by a campaign of fear orchestrated by the White House. The easiest way to keep the sheeple in line is to scare them to death with fabricated tales of foreign enemies trying to "destroy freedom.

The gunpoint approach that has been invoked to imprison Santos is a demonstration of modern medical madness. The mainstream media has stirred the people into a frenzy over freewheeling lawyer Andrew Speaker and his TB infection, and now health authorities are so paranoid about being blamed for allowing a TB patient to walk free that they would rather trample on Santos' rights than expose themselves to professional risk.

Absurd vaccine marketing calls for cervical cancer vaccinations for young boys!

Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
See article keywords and concepts
You have to understand that almost nothing appears in the mainstream media without an agenda. The news isn't news, it's a way of shaping public perception in order to market something: War, drugs, products, paradigms, etc. The U.S. press is a vehicle of shaping the belief systems of the public. It invents and promotes cultural fears, beliefs and perceptions. It has nothing whatsoever to do with bringing people useful news and information. Instead, it is almost entirely focused on getting people to believe what the folks in charge want them to believe.
The push to sell more vaccines and pharmaceuticals has now reached a level of absurdity that should astonish any intelligent person. The mainstream media is now reporting -- and I'm not kidding -- that young boys should be vaccinated with Gardasil (the drug now being pushed onto teenage girls to supposedly prevent cervical cancer) based on the idea that if they have oral sex with girls who carry HPV, they might get throat cancer! This is an incredible stretch of scientific credibility, and it's such a preposterous marketing campaign that only Big Pharma could have come up with it.
Big Pharma's primary weapon in promoting these silly scare stories is the mainstream media. All they have to do is start floating stories about how dangerous oral sex can be, and then once everybody is scared half to death of oral sex, they can float the "solution" as yet another vaccine. Inventing the problem, then marketing the "solution" Did you ever notice how the press never even talked about Restless Legs Syndrome until the drug companies had a new pharmaceutical for sale that claimed to treat the condition?

Top 20 things that are more dangerous to children than lead paint in Mattel toys

Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
See article keywords and concepts
REPPED: The mainstream media is amusingly irrational when it comes to reporting scare stories. The latest example involves the lead content of Mattel toys made in China. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a third recall of Mattel toys involving over 700,000 toys containing unacceptably high levels of lead paint (over .06 percent lead). Irrational parents are rushing back to retailers in droves, turning in their Mattel toys to "save their children" from the dangers of lead paint.
It all just goes to show you that the sheeple will think anything the mainstream media tells them to think (and they'll ignore everything else). It's classic American contradiction: Returning a Mattel toy at the local toy store while taking your child to a dentist to have mercury implanted in the cavities caused by all the soda the kid consumed at home (because the parents keep buying Coke and Pepsi). If it all weren't so downright tragic, it would almost be funny. Almost.

In U.S., science is distorted to promote political and corporate agendas

Vitamin E was routinely discredited in the mainstream media, for example, using remarkably bad science. Researchers tested synthetic, low-dose versions of vitamin E on populations with high risks of heart attack or stroke. When deaths occurred within the sample population group, the headlines read, "Vitamin E causes Heart Attack!" It's a preposterous conclusion; but this is how deeply distorted science has become today in its quest to promote the interests of corporations.

Police state USA: Student assaulted and tasered by police for asking John Kerry the wrong question

The mainstream media is censoring the truth of this story, refusing to report the nature of the question asked by Meyer immediately preceding his brutal arrest and kidnapping (see below) by assaulting police officers. A video of the event, filmed by Kyle Mitchell, is making the rounds on the internet and is available now at YouTube.com: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6bVa6jn4rpE The two-minute video shows officers grabbing Meyer's arms, throwing him to the ground and then, after Meyer is already secured on the ground, blasting him with a taser.
