As Glen Gabbard, the psychiatrist at Baylor, said to me, there will always be two languages: the language of neuroscience—the language of neurotransmitters, synapses, neurons, brain imaging; and the language of human experience—thoughts, ideas, feelings, object relations.15 No matter how much progress biological psychiatry makes, the two languages will never meet. There will never be a one-to-one correspondence between neuroscience and lived experience. The best diagnostic tool in psychiatry is still simply to ask the patient what he feels. |

The FDA is the final authority over all language and will likely even change its name to the FDLA (the Food, Drug and language Administration).
Please note these new definitions
Consumers are warned to avoid using all words until they know their new definitions, which have been announced by the FDA as follows:
"HEALTH" shall mean death, as in "Health care" (death care).
"EDUCATION" shall mean propaganda, as in, "These TV ads sure are educating those patients about the benefits of prescription drugs! |
| REPPED: The FDA's Ministry of language today announced that the English language has been suspended. From now on, all words will only mean what the FDA declares they should mean. The word, "Pasteurization," for example, will now mean any process used to kill microorganisms, including irradiation, spraying toxic chemicals and launching foods into the dark vacuum of space where they explode like Gallagher's watermelons.
Please disregard all previous definitions of words. They no longer apply in the world of FDA newspeak. |

Many of you from other countries are probably reading this using English you learned as a second, third or fourth language -- and your vocabulary far exceeds that of the average American, who only knows one language and hasn't even mastered that one. But again, I assure you this is the state of reality here in the United States.
Let's not even talk about understanding numbers, mathematics or issues like world history -- that's beyond the scope of what the public could possibly comprehend. It's a shame, really, to look around in the United States and see how far we have fallen. |

The powerful words produced in Sacred Santemony are made from whole-brain use of the letters of the ancient language - a language that is comprised of the basic sounds that underlie and bring forth all physical manifestation. The letters of the ancient language vibrate at a much higher level than our modern languages, and when combined to form whole words, they generate feelings of peace and harmony (Santemony) to calm the storms of unrest, violence, and turmoil, both internal and external.
In April 2002 I spontaneously began to chant sounds that are meant to improve certain health conditions. |

Antonio Udina, also known as Tuone Udaina, was, as it turns out, the last native speaker of a Romance language called Dalmation (or Vegliote), a language that officially became extinct at his death. Thus, this single event was memorialized while so many other deaths through industrial trauma or occupational illness have remained anonymous, even though each ended a personal voice, if not an entire language.
Only rarely before the modern era did the fine arts provide us with any images of workingmen or women going about their tasks. |

| Scientists aren't certain of the reason, but research indicates that learning a new language, craft, game or other skill slows memory loss.
It's generally more effective to learn a new skill than to enhance one you already have. An accountant, for instance, probably wouldn't benefit as much from learning calculus as from studying a foreign language, while a person who already knows two languages would not benefit as much from studying a third one as he/she would from, say, learning to play bridge.

I read one of their reports. The language I reviewed was monstrous. It contained the language of bureaucrats and scientists and wore the mantle of the authority of science but demonstrated little understanding or common sense. The report was paradoxically educated, yet foolish, containing the kind of arrogant language writing you master in college and try to get rid of by the time you're thirty if you have any ambition at all about being a good or even great writer. |

I will read twenty books from cover to cover and thoroughly learn a subject area that interests me.

Once you name the results you wish to achieve, then you can consider the game plan for getting there.
Ask yourself: What will it realistically take for me to achieve these desired results?
And now, here's where the real need for honesty kicks in. |

Really, why aren't we treated to 30 minutes of FBI warnings, in every possible language, that we can't fast-forward through? They're already wasting our time with warnings in two languages. I think they should expand it to 10 languages. You see, the big problem with DVD technology versus the old VHS tapes is that with DVD, you don't have control anymore. The studios have control. Some DVDs even force you to watch previews because they disable the fast-forward functions on your DVD player. I think that's absurd. |

Several studies of gender differences in cognition have pointed to greater language deficits in women with AD as compared with men [55, 56]. However, other studies have reported absence of gender-related language differences or other measures of cognition, including memory and perception in AD [57, 58]. Although the most prominent change noted in patients with AD is decreased cognition, behavioral disturbances also frequently occur. |

The other criticisms in this article, including the "exaggerated language" and the definition of aeroponic technology, are planned to be handled by a discussion session between myself and AeroGrow. In that discussion session, the plan is to jointly explore the use of marketing language about the AeroGarden unit and see if we can come to agreement on some common points. We may, of course, only agree to disagree, but at least AeroGrow is demonstrating a keen interest in learning from this critical review and seeing how they might improve communication with customers about the AeroGarden product. |

The language of men vs. women in medicine
Ever notice that most people in the technical side of medicine are men who use war-like language, while most people in the "arts" side of healing are women who use nurturing language?
Men like to be able to name the parts, dissect the specimen, identify the chemicals and "target" the body with a "new weapon" that kills the invading disease! The body is a battleground, and male doctors have to "win the war on cancer" or whatever disease they're targeting. |

BODY SIGNALS
A baby doesn't learn to talk for a long time, but it begins communicating as soon as it is born. Mothers soon learn to interpret the baby's needs and wants from the noises, smiles, grimaces, and body language it uses. Our bodies have a similar relationship with us. |

Much of the language in this bill assumes the FDA actually desires to regulate drug companies and protect the American public. Yet past behavior by the agency has proven the FDA has very little interest in protecting the public. Thus, any "optional" language in the bill may ultimately be useless. A good bill would require the FDA to take specific actions, levy certain fines, and oversee the necessary safety studies. |

To reassure those who are interested in the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act, DSHEA, I wanted to take a moment to outline those changes. |

In just one edition of the Times, four articles appeared, each of which offered genetic and neurological explanations for behavior that a decade or two ago likely would have been analyzed in social or cultural terms:
• "A Biological Dig for the Roots of language." Biologists, using genetic models, are outstripping linguists, who use traditional cultural models to understand how language developed.
• "Women in Black, Clues on Origins of Depression. |

Reid felt that for Western scientists to take alternative medicine seriously, alternative practitioners had better start using the language of science. Reid was not being condescending as much as practical. He insisted that Peter talk in terms that scientists could understand. Without a common language, it was unlikely the two groups could ever establish a fruitful collaboration. He also urged Peter to increase his efforts to see how the anomalies he was finding in how the body works could answer some of the unsolved mysteries of biology. |

As I have been reporting for the last week, language relating to the Reagan-Udall Foundation for the FDA creates a new regulatory category and broadens FDA power in a way that can be used to attack dietary supplements. In response to this devious threat, Jonathan Emord, our nation's leading health freedom attorney, prepared amendment language to nullify the threat -- an amendment we now call The People's Amendment. Many of you flooded the Senate with your objections -- AND YOUR VOICE IS BEING HEARD. |

The present concern is that the bill will pass with ambiguous language that could allow its regulatory powers to threaten free access to dietary supplements and functional foods. While the bill's supporters claim there is no such language contained in the bill that would subject foods and supplements to new FDA regulations, they nonetheless refuse to support the food and supplement protection amendments authored by Jonathan Emord (a high-profile attorney specializing in FDA regulatory law) and generally supported by the health freedom movement.
