Lack of proper hydration in body tissues is now recognized as a substantial factor in the aging process. Even dehydration of 1% to 2% can affect all functions of the body. Symptoms of dehydration can include: headaches, irritability, impatience, restlessness, insomnia, dry skin, loss of appetite, constipation, unexplained weight gain, and swollen hands and/or feet from water retention. The gradual loss of water in the body is one factor of aging which contributes significantly to wrinkles.
Water requirements vary according to body size, physical activity, air temperature, and sweating. |

There is no practical or rational reason to treat an illness (toxicity crisis) with synthetic drugs or even with natural medications and methods unless the body's need for hydration has been met first. Drugs and other forms of medical intervention can be dangerous for the human physiology largely because of their strongly dehydrating effects. Most patients nowadays are suffering from "thirst disease," a progressive condition of dehydration. Some parts of the body may be dehydrated more than others. |

Clean water: hydration is crucial for good nervous system performance. I will even say that you cannot possibly engage in effective intention exercises when you're in a state of chronic dehydration (as most people are). Drinking plenty of water clears metabolic wastes from your body and even lubricates the nerve cells throughout your body! So drink more water and you'll boost your results.
Microalgae superfoods: These superfoods offer a two-fold benefit: They cleanse the liver (which purifies the blood and improves mental clarity) and they offer natural high-density nutrition from nature. |

To say a sports drink has a true hydration benefit, they would have to study a large number of kids, do a detailed evaluation to document dehydration, and show that the child's status improved with the sports drink." Mansukhani says that in the average child or adult's healthy diet, there is no role for sports drinks, and that water is best for hydration.37

Because your body is experiencing certain undesirable metabolic effects that have been caused by your diet, your lack of nutrition, your lack of exercise, and your lack of hydration, that ultimately lead to a higher observable blood pressure. The observation itself, however—the high blood pressure—is not the disease.
The surprising natural treatment here is hydration—you must reduce your intake of non-water beverages such as soft drinks or milk, and increase your intake of real, pure water. In many cases, high blood pressure is simply a sign of chronic dehydration. |

Prevention: Factors such as the type of alcohol drunk, genetics, nutritional V|3 status, and hydration seem to affect the intensity of a hangover. Drinking to s\F the extent of feeling drunk, however, usually means a hangover is likely to Hr occur. There are several steps you can take to prevent this, or lessen alcohol's ^ side effects. Avoid drinking on an empty stomach or when overly tired, and avoid intense physical activity while drinking. Taking vitamin B6 prior to drinking also seems to lessen the effects of a hangover. |

Anti-emetics: This type of medication stops nausea and vomiting. Most commonly chlorpromazine (Phenergan®) is used as a rectal suppository or as an intramuscular shot, as needed. Ginger is a natural anti-nausea remedy and 400-800 mg can be taken at the early onset of symptoms. Larch arabinogalactodes, found in a Thorne product called Arabinex®, is a natural antiviral that seems to speed up recovery. |

Thirst is the body's way of demanding water for hydration and maintaining fluid balance. Instead of "boring" water, people often consume soft drinks and coffee—both of which are usually loaded with sugar and caffeine that affect blood-sugar and insulin levels.
Sugary soft drinks have been described as liquid candy. Indeed, the typical 12-ounce can contains about ten teaspoons of sugars, and a 32-ounce cup contains roughly lA pound of sugars. Most juices are just as bad, and so are many of Starbucks' and other companies' sweetened beverages. |

| The term "dry" does not refer to the hydration state of the bean, but rather means that the bean variety is allowed to dry in the pod before harvesting.
A Serving of Food Lore...
The first evidence of beans can be traced back some 20,000 years. The lima and pinto were cultivated by Mexican and Peruvian civilizations more than 7,000 years ago. Historians are unsure whether these two beans originated in Mexico, Peru, or Guatemala. Migrating tribes brought beans throughout the Americas. Spanish explorers introduced the beans from the New World to Europe in the 1500s. |

Cells must be bathed in fluid at all times to do their work, so correct hydration is vitally important at the cellular level. Cancer is thought by some to be the result of continual dehydration at this basic cellular level.
The body relies on water to flush away waste products such as urine. Without water to moisten the surface of the lungs, there can be no intake of oxygen or expulsion of carbon dioxide. For food to be digested, absorbed, and carried to all parts of the body, water is needed every step of the way. |

Comfort the child: Most acute cases of croup can be managed at home through rest, hydration, and a light diet.

You can also expect BMI to vary with age, sex and possibly ethnicity because of differences in factors such as composition of lean tissue, sitting height and hydration state.4 Those are a lot of variables that could change the outcome.
There is a formula used to determine your BMI, but if you are like me and you don't want to do the math, you can use the BMI chart I have provided. To use the table, find your height in the left-hand column and your corresponding weight in the row to the right and locate the BMI level associated with this combination. |

At the same time, the pain-afflicted person should get on a hydration and cleansing program, as well as end any dehydrating influences in his life.
"Body Drought"—The Strongest Type of Stress
The human brain, working round the clock, requires more water than any other part of the body. Typically, the brain contains about 20 percent of all the blood that circulates through the body. It is estimated that brain cells consist of 85 percent water. |
| This form of colon cleansing can detach old crusted layers of waste from the colon walls, which permits better water absorption and hydration of the colon and the body as a whole. However, it may take a minimum of two to three colonic sessions for these latter benefits to take effect.
Colonic irrigation can also help with emotional problems. It is no coincidence that the transverse colon passes right through the solar plexus, which is the body's emotional center. |
| Any emerging puffiness of or around the eyes or swelling of the ankles indicates that the hydration process should be done more gradually. As the swellings decrease, you may resume drinking normal quantities of water. With increased water intake, your body will also be able to remove any excessive salt. However, you do not want to become salt-deficient. You should, therefore, be certain to include some unrefined salt 14 as an important part of your diet. |
| Unless the body returns to its normal level of hydration, the RA system remains activated. But this also means that the pressure of the blood against the walls of the blood vessels remains abnormally high, thereby causing the damage that is known as cardiovascular disease.
Hypertension and the retention of urine in the kidneys may lead to kidney damage. Conventional treatments for this condition consist mostly of diuretic (urine-forming) drugs and restricted salt consumption. Both can have severe drawbacks. |
| Much less pricey, yet very effective and excellent for people who are not only interested in proper hydration, but also want to cleanse the body from toxins, are water ionizers. (See Chapter 7 for details.)

Although these can also be pricey, they are still an affordable option if you consider the cost of suffering through a bout of cancer. |

David Ludwig, director of the obesity program at Children's Hospital Boston, says that most studies showing a hydration benefit with sports drinks apply only to triathletes. Ludwig stressed that "kids are not triathletes" and that sports drinks would come in handy only if dehydration were suddenly to become a public health menace.31

Believe it or not, most beverages that are consumed by American consumers today actually don't offer hydration; drinking soft drinks results in a loss of water in your body, not a gain in water. Once you drink one can of a soft drink beverage, you feel like you still need more, and thus the body is trapped in a never-ending cycle of craving for hydration that simply cannot be met by consuming soft drinks. What your body truly craves is water.
Caffeine is also another water-depleting drug. |

Full hydration (drinking lots of water) during any weight loss effort is very important. Don't fall for the trap of trying to lose weight through dehydration and starvation, aided by an appetite suppressant herb. This can be medically dangerous. Drinking lots of water may make you feel bloated, but remember: water has no calories. Drink all you need. It won't add an ounce of fat, ever.
As always, be sure to work with a qualified health practitioner before attempting any weight loss program, exercise program, or dietary supplement (including hoodia). |

Hydration
Dehydration can cause all types of symptoms, including dry skin, fatigue, headaches, dizziness, painful and stiff joints, constipation, and even frequent infections. The hydration state of our cells is closely related to our nutrient status, hormone balance, and oxidative stress levels. Changes in our water level can affect cellular metabolism, and all the biochemical signals needed for optimal health. So remember to drink to your health and drink heavily and heartily—water, that is: at least eight glasses of pure, clean water every day. |

When combined with some other medical essentials, such as vitamin C, proven antioxidants and minerals like selenium, zinc, organic foods, and full hydration with pure water, the reduction in medical costs would be staggering to the industry.
