In the 55 people tested the heavy metals, pesticides, and herbicide toxins, initially 801 toxins were found in the subjects’ livers, 825 toxins in the breasts, 824 toxins in the brain. |
| REPPED: Natural Cellular Defense is a natural zeolite-based substance that is being increasingly studied for its near-miraculous ability to bind with heavy metals and toxic chemicals, removing them from the body. Dr. Gabriel Cousens, M.D., is leading the research on the use of Natural Cellular Defense to remove these chemicals from the body, and this article shares his latest results.
Those results are quite remarkable, as you will see below. |
| In testing people for a whole set of toxins consisting of 14 to 26 of the common heavy metals, pesticides, and herbicides, the people initially had on average 90 to 95% of the toxins in their liver, breast, and brain, whether they were live-food eaters or not.
The overall percentage of removal of these toxins from these organs was 88%, leaving only 12% of the toxins in their systems overall. This included 91% removal from the liver, 88% removal from the breast, and 87% removal from the brain. |
| In observing thousands of fasters since 1988, fasting alone—although wonderful for enhancing the vital force—does not seem to significantly get rid of pesticides, herbicides, and heavy metals after 1 week by itself. |
| The basic mechanism we can draw from the literature and my present pilot study is that, by removing heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, and DU, as well as through its effect of increasing immune system function, alkalizing the blood, blocking viral replication, and neutralizing free radicals, the NCD removes the blocks which compromise the vital life force. When the vital life force is freed up and activated, the body’s natural ability does the healing and relieving of these chronic diseases itself. With the NCD, we have returned to the basic natural healing theory for all chronic diseases. |

Many of the chemical compounds in prescription drugs are far more toxic than heavy metals, and yet they are allowed to be prescribed to tens of millions of Americans. We've seen that with products like Vioxx, which has now been estimated to have caused up to 140,000 heart attacks, with an estimated 44% fatality rate (source: The Lancet, January 2005). Do the math: it comes out to 61,600 people potentially being killed by this prescription drug. And the news headlines are concerned about a few imported products from India? Get real. Get some perspective. Vioxx even dwarfs the 9/11 fatalities. |
| For example, if you are buying spirulina from a company that sources it from Cyanotech in Kona, Hawaii, you know that you're getting spirulina without any heavy metals whatsoever, because it's grown in pristine waters pumped up from the depths of the Pacific Ocean, unaffected by modern industrial run-off or other sources of contamination. Or if you're purchasing Amazon herbs from the Amazon Herb company, one company I strongly support, you know that you're getting herbs that are routinely tested for quality and purity. |
| Frankly, there are heavy metals all over the place! It's not just in Ayurvedic medicines, it's also in manufactured, brand-name foods right here on the shelves in every grocery store in America. Where's the official warning on that?
And come to think of it, most prescription drugs are encapsulated in colored capsules made with artificial food coloring chemicals that promote nervous system disorders. Most packaged meat products are made with sodium nitrite, an ingredient that's highly carcinogenic and promotes colon cancer. |
| What this announcement fails to mention is that a whole lot of the food products in the United States is also contaminated with heavy metals. There was an article a few months ago about a girl in the United States who, for a science fair project, found heavy metal poisoning in canned foods made right here in the U.S. There was also another story about candy made in Mexico that contains lead as part of its coloring ingredient - it's being sold in the United States and it's perfectly legal, even though it is knowingly contaminated with lead. |
| This is an important finding and worthy of discussion but, once again, the mainstream press is blowing this all out of proportion by claiming that all Ayurvedic herbal remedies are contaminated with heavy metals.
The people behind this announcement clearly have an agenda, and that agenda is to discredit all herbal remedies in an effort to call for new FDA oversight of herbal remedies and nutritional supplements. And they do that by scaring people with headlines that distort the true findings. These are just a handful of products sourced from India and Pakistan. |
| Some of these overseas companies say to themselves, gee, it's cheaper if we don't test for heavy metals. Or it's cheaper if we source low-quality ingredients. So there's an economic incentive and the exploitation of public trust for increased profits -- very much the same behavior that we see at Big Pharma.
Yet the FDA chooses to selectively attack herbs only. We have so many dangerous ingredients in the food supply right now that don't belong there, and yet they remain perfectly legal because the FDA is unwilling to take steps to protect the American public from those ingredients. |

In a treatment called chelation therapy, the practitioner employs a chemical that's normally used to bind heavy metals (like mercury and lead) to treat people poisoned by these metals. Some doctors have the idea that unexplained fatigue and chemical sensitivity are due to heavy metal toxicity. While exposure to heavy metals can cause many symptoms, there is no good evidence that heavy metals have any role at all in CFS, fibromyalgia (FM), multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS), or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). |

It has a chelation-like effect in removing heavy metals (particularly lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic), pesticides, herbicides, PCBs, and other toxins from the body, shown in a study of miners at Duke University. These toxins are strongly correlated with the occurrence of a wide range of diseases, including cancers and neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s, autism, and dementia.
Zeolite also improves liver function, indirectly improving elimination of pesticides, herbicides, and xeno-estrogens. |

The kidneys make a tremendous effort in their attempts to keep the blood clear of toxic substances such as lead, cadmium, mercury and other heavy metals (although these are difficult to pass). The kidneys also maintain fluid and electrolyte balance and regulate the pressure that the heart creates to force the blood through their filtering system. Kidney stones greatly undermine these vital functions, which may further increase the chance of accumulating heavy metals in the body and raise its general level of toxicity. |

During rapid fat loss, these heavy metals are liberated from the melting fat and enter the bloodstream. Unfortunately, we don't excrete these compounds well in our urine. Our enzymatic detoxification system must inactivate them, but during rapid fat loss the system is overwhelmed, and toxins rise to high levels and remain elevated for a long time. How long? Studies of volunteers at Biosphere II in the Arizona desert, who lost approximately 37 percent of their body mass in six months, showed toxic levels of heavy metals for a whole year before returning to normal.2 Is this a problem? |

Chlorophyll could be a detoxifier that will pull things out that might kill viruses that sequester the heavy metals, for example. I think the cell wall of chlorella is generally considered the thing that just grabs on to almost any toxin in the body, whether it is heavy metals, pesticides, organic chemicals, and they have done tremendous experiments with that in Japan.
I think there are more research papers on chlorella than any substance known. They are mostly in other languages. I have seen an explosion just since we have come up with this. |

What must be seriously considered is that these drugs will also eliminate from the body most other heavy metals such as zinc and copper. This can prove to be especially dangerous since these elements are needed by the body in trace amounts in order to function properly.
Natural treatments include products like Heavy Metal Detox (www.DetoxMetals.com) and Metal Magic (www.BaselineNutritionals.com), both of which help eliminate heavy metals from the body through the binding action of cilantro and chlorella. These products also help remove mercury and cadmium along with lead. |

While exposure to heavy metals can cause many symptoms, there is no good evidence that heavy metals have any role at all in CFS, fibromyalgia (FM), multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS), or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Despite this, some practitioners frighten patients by telling them the mercury in their dental fillings may be the factor making them sick. This issue has been examined, and there is no evidence to support the assertion. Nonetheless, I have several patients who were convinced of this and went through the long, expensive, and painful process of having all their amalgams removed. |

Still other theories place the blame on viruses, bacteria, toxins, or heavy metals. What all of these theories have in common is the idea that the immune system is looking for something it cannot find, something that does not exist or exists for no apparent reason (something that poses no real threat). Another common link is that protease can act on many of the elements that are suspected causes of the immune system attacking the body.
For instance, heavy metals, such as lead and mercury, exert their poisoning effect by binding to groups of proteins, including vital enzymes. |

For instance, heavy metals, such as lead and mercury, exert their poisoning effect by binding to groups of proteins, including vital enzymes. Once they bind to a functional enzyme, they denature it, inhibit it, or both. This interaction of heavy metals with proteins can lead to degenerating diseases, nerve damage, or even death. Some clinical observations have shown that when proteases are taken in large amounts, heavy metal concentrations decrease significantly in the blood.

Require food manufacturers to list acrylamides, pesticides and heavy metals content on the label
Food companies don't really want you to know what's in their foods. Oh, they claim to list everything on the label, but that's not really everything. What's missing? All the stuff that kills you: the acrylamides, pesticides, heavy metals and other contaminants that are either sprayed on the foods, absorbed through the soils or created during high-heat cooking processes.
Acrylamides are cancer-causing substances created when carbohydrates are cooked at high temperatures -- frying, baking, etc. |

Thus, we can only conclude that heavy metals can accumulate in GM soy oil. As the paper states, little attention has been given to "whether the accumulation pattern and levels of heavy metals could change after the insertion of foreign genes."58 The scientists at the FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) also concluded that there is "ample scientific justification" to require testing and review of each GM food before approval. Their concern, according to CVM's director, was that "residues of plant constituents or toxicants in meat and milk products may pose human food safety concerns. |
| FDA scientists warned that GM crops may concentrate toxins, such as heavy metals and herbicides, from the environment.
2. There is evidence of heavy metals in GM soybean oil.
3. FDA scientists also said that toxins in GM feed might concentrate in milk or meat.
4. GM DNA fragments were found in milk.
5. While very little research has been done on this, small amounts of Roundup may be retained in the body of animals and affect sperm quality.
6.
The overuse of Roundup and Liberty herbicides on GM crops magnifies these types of risks. |

They are low on the food chain, so they are not full of heavy metals and toxins. They have all these factors, the vitamin D, the vitamin A, the fish oil, and the RNA. It is a supercharged food for humans and animals.
Mike: Do you buy canned sardines?
Dr. Liers: Yes. Canned sardines will cost you around a dollar for 15 ounces. You can get them at your Asian or ethnic food market, or even Safeway has them for about $1.50. We regularly serve our dogs sardines. We developed a recipe called Dog Heaven. We mix a little bit of Innova EVO dog food with the sardines. Then we add Rejuvenate! |

Toxic chemicals and heavy metals must be distrusted from the outset.
The drug and chemical industries, notably, take precisely the opposite approach. To them, all chemicals and drugs are safe until proven dangerous. This is how dangerous drugs get released into the marketplace and only recalled after tens of millions of prescriptions have been written and many thousands of people have died. The drug companies routinely treat the population as drug testing guinea pigs, and the used of vaccines on children is no different. |

We will throw heavy metals into bone. We can get away with that. We can throw pesticides into adipose tissue, and at least it is sequestered for a while." Eventually that, too, overflows. Then you have truly a degenerative situation. Each generation is getting weaker because of what we are doing. They have less capability of strengthening themselves, of protecting themselves.
You mentioned another point: long-term genetic factors. I think the longer we do this the more we affect genetics in what we pass on. Then, what would pass on is weaker, too. |
| It is the toxic chemicals from not only heavy metals, but also the pharmaceuticals. Toxic metals, very poor nutrition, and stress are making everything go downhill.
Mike: Isn't it impressive how many people are actually still alive and kicking given this? They get up in the morning. They shampoo with toxic fragrance chemicals. They drink the coffee, which depletes adrenals, and they smoke a cigarette. They suck car exhaust commuting to work. This burden is daily, and they do not take nutrition. How are they even alive?

I mean, it certainly is a heavy metal chelator -- diabetics have heavy metals for sure built up in the body -- and it is a tremendous antioxidant. It is in that metabolic pathway that is crucial. We put those three things in there to give the body a chance to take those sugars, and to do something with them in order to make the energy that is needed to function in the body.
Then we have a few other factors like vitamin A in there, not beta-carotene -- diabetics do not convert beta-carotene into vitamin A very well. |
