Using four-year-olds as guinea pigs to test psychotropic drugs is more than merely unethical; it's predatory. It's Nazi-esque in its use of human beings for medical experiments, and yet it remains strangely acceptable across society. Child Protective Services does nothing. Hospitals gladly run the trials (they get paid, of course). Psychiatrists and doctors happily drug these children, observe them, then draw their blood, all in the name of corporate profits. |

The controversy centers not on rheumatoid arthritis but on osteoarthritis, largely on the strength of one study with guinea pigs done at Duke University.
In this study, vitamin C supplements were given to forty-six guinea pigs (which, you may remember, are like us in that they're one of the few species that don't make their own vitamin C). The researchers found that a connection between high-dose vitamin C supplementation and the development of bony spurs in their knee joints. (The "high-dose" vitamin C given to the guinea pigs was the equivalent of about 1,500 to 2,500 mg in humans. |

To find it, he collected urine from his manic patients and, working in the hospital's abandoned pantry, injected it into the bellies of guinea pigs. When the guinea pigs all died, Cade decided to dilute the urine to reduce the toxic uric acid content, and try again. Reckoning (mistakenly) that adding the element lithium would aid in dissolving the uric acid, he tested lithium itself on the guinea pigs. guinea pigs are known for their dramatic startle reaction when placed on their backs, but Cade's lithium-treated guinea pigs were remarkably placid. |

Drug companies around the world, of course, are now concerned they won't be able to sign up more human guinea pigs for their own experimental drug trials. The drug industry relies heavily on exploiting the poor as human guinea pigs (see Human medical experimentation in modern times: How immigrants, poor people, minorities and children are modern-day guinea pigs for Big Pharma ), for without poor people to run experiments on, there can be no official declaration that the drugs are safe enough for everyone else to take. |

But the issue is far from settled. |

Rofo 173: 79-91, 2001] Women were made into guinea pigs and subjected to potentially harmful radiation. Then, when it was realized the radiation dose was too high and it was reduced, and there still was no benefit in regard to reduction in mortality rates, these facts were hidden from women. Most women who dutifully showed up for their annual mammograms were simply "cooking their breasts."
Women should be told about the benefits, limitations, and potential harms associated with regular screening. Mammograms can miss some cancers. |

Drugs are frequently released in this country on an experimental basis, using the population as guinea pigs to find out how many people might die from that drug in order to get more safety data. Let's face it, when the FDA approves drugs for public use, they are not at all proven safe. The American public is routinely treated as a collection of guinea pigs in order to promote prescription drugs, foods, artificial sweeteners or other elements.

So now we've got toxic chemicals in our mouths, in our public water supplies, and in our foods and beverages. |

Not unlike those women involved in involuntary ultrasound studies, soldiers have become guinea pigs in massive drug studies. How else could the pharmaceutical industry legally test poisons on human subjects?
Vaccination of soldiers is mandatory. Those who refuse the shots face court martial and prison time, or at the very least, a dishonorable discharge from the armed forces. Common side effects of the over one million vaccinations so far injected in our soldiers have included joint pain, extreme fatigue, and memory loss. The mandatory anthrax vaccine has even worse effects. |
| Giving vaccines to human turns them into human "guinea pigs." It is not possible to predeict what reactions they will have. This is the risk all people receiving vaccines have to take. Some will die, others will live but become ill years alter, and many others will live without serious long-term consequences. But since all vaccines are designed to cause the very disease they are to prevent (in order to establish immunity), a truly safe vaccine is one that is not effective. |
| Their babies are the guinea pigs in this experiment. They become vulnerable to external and internal harmful influences when their delicate electromagnetic fields are distorted, misaligned or damaged by highly concentrated doses of ultrasound; exposure to that is neither natural nor suitable for any human being. We cannot solely rely on machines for diagnostic purposes just because machines are considered less likely to make mistakes than doctors. All findings have to be interpreted properly before they can serve as a guide for treatment. As demonstrated in the above study, 98. |
| The parents or guardians of these legally kidnapped children are rarely ever informed that their kids are subjects or rather, guinea pigs, in these clinical trials. The law prevents them from trying to save their children from the holocaust of human experimentation. The National Institute of Health (NIH) is legally permitted to use HIV-positive children of impoverished, drug-addicted mothers unable to care for them, as test subjects. So far, dozens of trials with AZT and Nevirapine were conducted through the late 90s. And there are 227 studies ongoing or currently completed. |

The few animals that cannot synthesize vitamin C in their bodies include apes, humans, guinea pigs, one type of bird, one type of bat, and one type of fish. All other animals synthesize vitamin C in a four-step process.
The first step in synthesizing vitamin C starts with glucuronate, which is made from blood sugar (glucose), as seen in Figure 2-1. In the second step, glucuronate is converted to L-gluconate. The third step changes the L-gluconate to L-gulono-gamma-lactone. It is interesting to note that humans can perform these three initial steps to synthesize vitamin C. |

But the simple fact remains, cancer patients are guinea pigs and the FDA approves ineffective therapies for cancer.
In contrast to the failures of monoclonal antibody drugs, a recent report says "/'/ is well established that mushroom-extracted compounds are commonly used as immune boosters" ... and that "over 30 mushroom species have shown anticancer action in animals." [Applied Microbiology Biotechnology 67: 453-68, 2005] The critics will claim medicinal mushrooms are unproven. So oncologists continue to prefer disproven monoclonal antibodies over unproven mushroom extracts. |
| Complete protection against damage caused by tobacco smoke is not achieved till guinea pigs are given 15 mg of vitamin C. For a 1-2 pound (-0.5-1.0 kilogram) animal, this is equivalent to 1,050-2,100 mg for a 160-pound adult human. [Free Radical Biology Medicine 29: 115-24, 2000]
Smoking impairs the ability of arteries to widen by depleting vitamin C. Blood vessels are not static in size. They widen (dilate) or narrow (constrict) to maintain adequate blood pressure. Infusions of vitamin C correct this deficiency. |
| For example, long-term dietary deficiencies of vitamin C in guinea pigs result in esophageal and gastric cancer. [IARC Science Publication 41: 665-77, 1982]
Americans produce no vitamin C internally, and obtain all their vitamin C from their diet, about 110 milligrams per day. Hunter gatherers long ago consumed as much as 600-700 milligrams of vitamin C daily, so the sparse amount consumed in modern times appears historically low.
Americans believe, since they do not have overt signs of scurvy, they don't need any additional vitamin C. |

Lipschutz demonstrated that progesterone administered to guinea pigs prevented formation of tumors that had been induced by estrogen.48 In 1946, A. Goodman reported six cases of clinically diagnosed uterine fibroids that regressed after using progesterone therapy.49
Dr. John Lee proposes that because uterine fibroids are a result of estrogen stimulation and what he calls estrogen dominance, progesterone is the solution. He asserts that estrogen dominance is a much greater problem than is recognized by conventional medicine. |

Studies conducted on guinea pigs have found that chemicals in artichokes can stop disturbances in the GI tract. The chemicals halt the intestines from spastic movement. Human studies have also found that artichoke leaf extract can significantly reduce the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and dyspepsia (pain in the mid-abdominal area).
Tips on Using Artichokes selection and storage:
• When selecting artichokes you want to pick ones that feel heavy, have tightly packed leaves, and are dark green in color. |

References to Andean cosmology are almost entirely absent, and the use of guinea pigs as diagnostic instruments has all but disappeared from the tool kit of these healers.
Interestingly, Peruvian curanderos have started to fill this spiritual void in Southern Ecuador. Healers from the Northern Peruvian mountains and coastal plains frequently cross over to Ecuador to offer their services to patients - including increasing numbers of foreigners with a "New Age" orientation - who are not satisfied with the more "Westernized" approach of Ecuadorian healers. |

Toxic doses given to mice, rats, guinea pigs, and cats provoked the autonomous ganglion, clonic and tonal contractions of individual limbs, cramps, and eventually, paralysis.
Small doses given to mice led to blood pressure reduction in the short term. Higher doses resulted in a rise in blood pressure. Smaller doses stimulated respiration in cats, while higher doses impeded or slowed down the initial stimulus. In isolated guinea pig ileum, Coniine brought on contractions. In isolated perfundierten rabbit hearts, Coniine effected a negative inotrope, with a stabile heartbeat. |

They believe that the FDA should have even more power over consumers, and that the American people should be treated as medical guinea pigs, involuntarily taking part in a massive drug experiment called, "Test the drugs on the population." Any real safety issues will only be dealt with after the fact -- after they've killed hundreds of thousands more Americans.

An Indian medical journal complains that the country is becoming "the greatest source of human guinea pigs for the global drug industry."51 GlaxoSmithKline, Eli Lilly, Pfizer, and Novartis all run trials there. Why? Vast numbers of potential research subjects, cheaper costs, and the fact that the patient population is "treatment naive"—they are largely unexposed to drugs, which makes the evaluation of the effect of a given drag easier. India's other advantages include English-speaking medical personnel, lots of hospitals (700,000 specialty beds), and medical colleges (221). |

Each and every one of us has been guinea pigs in this experiment. However, the experiment failed. We tried to treat diseases by killing the culprits that we thought were causing them. In fact, we treated any "enemy" as something to be killed, as if killing the perpetrator would solve the problem. As a result, we are the most toxic society in history. Our foods have trace toxins from pesticides. Toxins are added to drinking water (to kill bacteria, etc.), which we eventually drink and absorb into our bodies. |

The drug companies routinely treat the population as drug testing guinea pigs, and the used of vaccines on children is no different.
I find it interesting that genuine scientific skepticism seems to vanish when the topic shifts to pharmaceuticals. Sure, all the skeptics and quack critics will go to town on topics like acupuncture, mind-body medicine or even the efficacy of botanical medicines, but when the discussion turns to things like mercury in vaccines or amphetamine drugs for kids with ADHD, all such skepticism immediately vanishes. |
