Is the Bisphenol-A chemical in the plastic containers used with fruit juices a threat to my health?
A small threat, perhaps, but the health benefits of drinking superfruit juices greatly outweigh the health risks of plastics chemicals. Still, it's better to drink such juices from glass containers, not plastic.
#3: Are organic fruit juices healthier than non-organic?
Yes! Organic fruits have much higher concentrations of phytonutrients (natural plant medicines), vitamins and minerals. Organic farming is also better for the environment. |
| I recommend buying fruit juices in glass wherever possible.)
3. There are likely pesticide residues in the non-organic juice products. Pesticides aren't listed on the ingredients label, but they're nonetheless present. However, the benefits of consuming these superfruits far outweighs the health effects of trace pesticide consumption, in my opinion, so from a personal perspective, you're still protecting your health with these juice products even if you consume some pesticide residues. |
| What are the healthiest fruit juices, and what are they good for?
Pomegranate: Anti-cancer, protects the heart and cardiovascular system
Blueberry: Lowers high cholesterol, protects the nervous system from oxidative damage (many people can eliminate statin drugs by eating more blueberries)
Acai: Anti-cancer, reduces digestive cancer risk, supports healthy nervous system function
Noni: Extremely potent anti-cancer, immune-boosting fruit (tastes terrible, though, if it's real)
Cherry: Anti-inflammatory. Reduces or ends arthritis pain. Anthocyanins are also anti-cancer. |
| But even non-organic superfruits are very good for your health, and in my opinion, the health benefits of the natural fruit juices far outweighs the cancer risk of pesticide residues.
#4: Why do you call apple juice and grape juice "junk juices?"
Many superfruit juice products that claim "pomegranate" or "blueberry" on the front label are actually made mostly with cheaper juices such as grape and apple. These are fillers juices that have very little nutritional value compared to pomegranate, blueberry, acai and others.
#5: Are juices made from concentrate as good as juices made fresh?
No! |

Fruits: The fruit group includes all kinds of whole fruits, including canned and fruit juices. That means 100 percent fruit juices only; fruit-flavored drinks are not fruit juice.
9. Vegetables: The veggie group encompasses all kinds of fresh or frozen vegetables. If you regularly eat canned vegetables, including canned tomatoes, you must answer "yes" to the following question regarding salt because of the salt they contain.

I've warned about the high-sugar fruit juices that I consider to be a scourge on society so many times in the past—how can I be recommending juices made of fruit? Well, it's like this: Commercial fruit juices are largely flavored sugar water. Homemade, freshly squeezed juices are vitamin powerhouses. Yes, they contain some natural sugar, but you can also modify that by intelligent mixing of low-sugar vegetables (which should constitute the bulk of the ingredients) and some carefully chosen fruits for flavor and additional nutrients. |

Starting with diluted fruit juices and vegetable broth soups does this best. Thereafter, small amounts of solid foods can be reintroduced, starting with the more easily digested ones. Protein foods, especially meats, should be reintroduced last and in small quantities, until the system has adapted and feels normal again. During this transition phase, the addition of digestive enzyme supplements with meals can be helpful. The longer the length of fast, the more gradually one should end it. |

| Keep in mind that fruit juices are loaded with the simple sugar fructose, and that without the fiber from the whole fruit, they quickly raise the level of sugar in the bloodstream.
Why should we consider adding fresh juices to our diet? There are several reasons. Due to our typical diets, virtually everyone has a digestive system that is stressed and underfunctioning, an intestinal tract with a diminished store of flora, congested underfunctioning organs of assimilation, and an overload of toxins entering the system on a regular basis. |

Sometimes vegetarians eat far too many carbs in the form of bread, pasta, fruit juices, and sweets—and not enough vegetables.
You could consider glucagon the body's energy hormone, in contrast to insulin, which is the fat-storage hormone. Glucagon stimulates the release of stored sugar, called glycogen, and its conversion into glucose. (Most people have about sixty to ninety minutes' worth of liver glycogen, which can be used up in strenuous exercise.)
Glucagon also promotes the breakdown of both fat and protein for energy. |
| In addition, avoid all fruit juices except grapefruit juice and avoid fruit smoothies because they are very high in sugars, but they lack the fiber to buffer their absorption.
Practical tip: Fresh berries are often expensive, so if you can't afford them, opt for frozen. Check the package labels to ensure no sugars have been added.
Practical Guideline #5. Eat Healthy Oils and Fats
We still meet people who believe that all fat is bad and that low-fat or zero-fat diets are the healthiest. The truth is that some fats protect against diabetes and weight gain. |

Fruit or fruit juices should always be taken on an empty stomach. Since fruit leaves the stomach within 20-40 minutes without requiring any stomach action, it is important not to eat them with other foods; doing so leads to fermentation, bloating, and even diarrhea. The best times to eat fruit are midmorning and midafternoon, or for breakfast with nothing else.
For optimal digestion, fruit should preferably be consumed when it is in season. When picked too early, they have not reached their natural ripening stage and lack most vitamins and important sugars. |

Fasting also refers to simply eating a whole lot less than you normally would. þSkip a meal, starting with one day a week, and then work up to every other day. The more often you do it, the more of a hormesis response you activate. þOccasionally, skip breakfast and lunch and eat all of your calories at dinner or eat only one meal a day. |

Adults should restrict milk to a maximum of 250 ml per day and substitute water or fruit juices for their daily fluid intake.
Because of its excessive carbohydrate content, lessen your reliance on refined sugar. Cut down on the sweet items and replace them with raisins, dates, prunes, sultanas, almonds and lots of fruit. Honey is an ideal substitute for sugar—have a spoonful of honey if you need to sweeten something. You can chew honeycomb instead of eating chocolate. Honey isn't just a sweetener, though, as international research suggests it can effectively inhibit the growth of bacteria. |
| Pure, unadulterated water is the best way of getting this fluid, although fruit juices and milk—in limited quantities—are almost as good. Be careful, though, as many mains water supplies are contaminated and contain inorganic substances such as lead, cadmium and chemical additives that impair our immune system. Invest in a water filter system—there are many inexpensive ones now available—and taste the difference. Try to drink at least half the recommended 6-7 glasses of liquid daily as pure water. Limit alcohol and caffeine consumption. |

Furthermore, avoid all manufactured beverages and fruit juices. Eat fruits whole, and separate from meals (see chapter 6).
While recovering, try to monitor blood sugar manually. For some time, you may want to use glycemic tables to help you in this regard. Make sure to work with a doctor who is aware of and supportive of the healing measures you are taking for yourself. Also avoid alcohol until blood sugar stabilizes in the normal range. The same applies to caffeine as well as other stimulants. Stimulants such as caffeine and nicotine prompt the liver to release sugar into the bloodstream.. |

It is also best to avoid drinking pure fruit juices. Fruit—and juice, especially—carries a high sugar content, and consuming too much of it rapidly raises the blood sugar. The body compensates to the sugar high with a surge of insulin from the pancreas—and the insulin, in turn, stimulates the liver to manufacture more cholesterol.1 It may also elevate triglyceride levels. Be careful of sugar-laden desserts, which can have the same effect.
5. Beverages. Water, seltzer water (try adding a small amount of fruit juice to boost flavor), milk, oat milk, no-fat soy milk, coffee, and tea. |
