It is well established that excess fluoride can cause dental fluorosis. Mild dental fluorosis can result in mottled teeth. With higher levels of fluoride, pitting of the tooth enamel can occur. The Centers for Disease Control estimate that 23 percent of people in the United States aged 6 to 39 years of age have some degree of dental fluorosis. This may be due to the combined fluoride intake from fluoridated water, fluoridated toothpaste, and topical dental fluoride treatments. Summary for Fluoride Main functions: strengthens tooth enamel. Adequate Intakes: adult men, 3.8 mg; adult women, 3.

The results of this small study indicate that calcium, ascorbic acid, and vitamin D3 supplementation can reverse fluorosis in children (Gupta et al, 1996). Hypertension Oral ascorbic acid reduced blood pressure and arterial stiffness in patients with type 2 diabetes. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 30 patients (aged 45 to 70 years) with type 2 diabetes that was controlled with diet or hypoglycemic agents received either placebo or oral ascorbic acid 500 mg daily.

At high doses of fluoride, skeletal fluorosis can occur. Skeletal fluorosis is abnormal hardening of bones and is associated with arthritic pain, weakness, joint stiffness and occasionally nerve damage and paralysis. Intakes of 20-80 milligrams daily of fluoride for ten to twenty years are considered necessary for significant fluorosis to occur. This is equivalent to intakes of 72-285 milligrams daily of sodium fluoride. No evidence of skeletal fluorosis nor any other signs or symptoms of fluoride toxicity have been noted in about seven million adult U.S.

Dental fluorosis, a brown staining of teeth due to fluoride exposure during childhood, is the best-documented adverse effect of fluoride. At a water fluoride level of 1 part per million (or 1 mg per liter), roughly 13% will have fluorosis to an aesthetically concerning degree.13 Some scientists have concluded that water fluoridation is associated with an increased risk of bone tumors,14 although most others disagree.15 FOLIC ACID What is it? Folic acid is a B vitamin needed for cell replication and growth.

Studies are showing that tooth decay is declining in both fluoridated and non-fluoridated areas, while dental fluorosis, a condition in children characterized by white spotted, yellow, brown-stained, or sometimes crumbly teeth, is on the rise, and more so in fluoridated areas. Intake of excess fluoride (through toothpaste, fluoridated water, and fluoride supplements) can cause dental fluorosis.20 ¦ Lead levels in children. The chemical most commonly used to fluoridate Americas drinking water is associated with an increase in children's blood lead levels.

The result? Mass fluorosis and toxicity to children everywhere. Didn't these people realize that fluoride only works topically? (That is, it only works if you rub it on your teeth, then spit it out, and even that only works if you're using natural fluoride, not the chemicals spit out as byproducts of the fertilizer industry, which is what city water departments are buying and dripping into the water supply.) High levels of fluoride are certainly toxic and can result in skeletal fluorosis, which can cause deformities. To summarize, current information indicates that growing children can greatly reduce their risk of dental decay by receiving periodic fluoride applications to the surface of their teeth. Fluoride is an interesting trace mineral because of the differing viewpoints on its toxicity. Chromium Chromium was named after the Greek word for color (chroma) because of the colorful compounds made from it. The chemical symbol for chromium is Cr.

They found that soy formula put children at risk for fluorosis of the enamel surfaces of their teeth if used during the first year, but not when used later, when consumption would normally decline or cease. At that point, fluoridated drinking water, toothpaste, supplements and fluoride containing foods became the key factors in fluorosis.32 In communities where the drinking water is fluoridated, ingestion can easily exceed levels that even fluoridation supporters consider "optimal." Physical education is key to improving a child's confidence, brainpower and long-term health

The answer was fluorosis. He was being overdosed with fluoride. He had the classic signs -- most notably the discoloration of the front teeth and the broken bones. Excessive exposure to fluoride will cause both of these effects. Parents have been brainwashed into exposing their children to way too much fluoride by the dental industry, which is so far behind on safety that it still actually promotes putting mercury into the mouths of children and expectant mothers through the use of dental fillings.
Too much fluoride will cause weakening of the bones and, of course, dental fluorosis. Sports are worth the time, effort and cost Getting back to physical education, I believe that involvement in sports or regular physical activities is one of the greatest gifts any parent can give their child. So parents, even if it costs you money, even if it's an inconvenience to pick up your child after school or take them to soccer practice, do it. It is worth it for the future of that child -- not only for their physical health but also for their mental health.

Maybe people should just start eating toothpaste instead of brushing their teeth with it, because certainly a lot of children eat toothpaste already, and many of those children suffer from dental fluorosis as a result. (A lot of senior citizens in this country also suffer from hip fractures and bone loss due partly to an overdose of fluoride.) Or let's take a different track and follow the line of thinking of the American Dental Association -- let's mass medicate the entire population with lots of other drugs. Why stop at fluoride?

The chemical most commonly used to fluoridate Americas drinking water is associated with an increase in children's blood lead levels. Repair of fluorosis is very expensive, even more so than cavities. EPA scientists were not convinced by the dog-and-pony act and refused to raise the toxic limits to 8 ppm. The vote was ten to two in favor of leaving the toxic limits at 1.4 and 2.4 ppm for children up to age nine. Unsurprisingly, given the government, industry, and forces embroiled in the debate, the report was later altered, officially raising toxic levels to 4 ppm—completely without the committee's knowledge or consent.
In countries with naturally high fluoride levels, skeletal fluorosis is quite common and considered a major medical disaster. Some villages have been described wherein every single resident has been afflicted with a twisted, bent spine leading to severe crippling. Death rates in such villages begin to skyrocket at about age fifty. In very advanced cases, the spine is so contorted and overgrown that the nerves and spinal cord are gradually crushed, leading to severe neurological injury.
In fact, cases of skeletal fluorosis are not recorded or tracked in this country, and most medical textbooks do not even mention the subject. Could it be because those who control our government, and thus our access to information, are afraid of the American public rejecting fluoridation of their drinking water because of the unavoidable dangers it poses? In 1937 Dr. Kai Roholm of Denmark completed what is now considered a classic study of fluoride toxicity in cryolite workers. His study found that exposure to fluoride in concentrations between 0.2-0.

Now as a result we have fluorosis, and bone disorders that are related to the over-consumption of fluoride. For some reason, dentists have decided that they now have medical degrees, and that they want to medicate the entire population with a drug, a biologically active drug, without first diagnosing any individual in that community. In other words, they want to medicate everyone across the board with the exact same dosage, regardless of that person's individual health needs, and regardless of how much other fluoride they may be exposed to on a regular basis.

Belgium, on the other hand, has a moderately low incidence of both fluorosis and goiter. In China, we see the same pattern: very high fluoride levels accompanied by a very high incidence of goiter. This same pattern has held up in ten countries examined worldwide. When we combine the epidemiological evidence with the above-cited research we see strong evidence for a connection between hypothyroidism and fluoridation.

Although toothpaste tubes carry warnings that little children should not use more than a "pea-sized" amount and not swallow the toothpaste, toothpaste alone cannot take the blame for mounting rates of fluorosis. Half of all U.S. municipal water supplies are fluoridated, most commercial foods are grown with pesticides containing fluoride, and nearly all bottled sodas, drinks, canned foods, baby foods and formulas are processed with fluoridated water.716 As we shall soon establish, soy foods naturally contain fluoride and processed soy foods contain a lot of it.
