The Constitution of Fecal Matter
The stool or fecal matter emits a sharp, sour, or penetrative odor.
This indicates that food is not being digested properly. Fermented and putrefied food and the presence of large quantities of "unfriendly" bacteria in the feces give rise to an abnormal odor and sticky texture. Normal stool is coated with a thin mucus lining, which prevents the anus from being soiled.
Dry and hard stools are an indication of constipation, and so are sticky stools. Diarrhea is yet another sign of weak performance of the digestive system and the liver, in particular. |
| The bowels eliminate as feces whatever food substances they cannot digest or absorb, such as the plant fiber cellulose. fecal matter also contains bile, which carries the waste products resulting from the breakdown (catabolism) of red blood cells. Nearly one-third of the excreted fecal matter is made up of dead intestinal bacteria. The body can function smoothly and efficiently only if the bowel removes these daily-generated waste products every day.
Good health results when each of these major activities in the digestive system is balanced and well coordinated with the rest of the body. |

Water actually helps lubricate the movement of fecal matter through the large intestine. In a person who is chronically dehydrated, the peristaltic action of the large intestine is reduced; thus fecal matter spends a longer amount of time in the body, emitting toxins and poisoning the body.
So many people are chronically dehydrated, it's no surprise that millions of people suffer from diseases of the large intestine and bowel like Crohn's Disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Likewise, water is important for healthy skin, lubricating it and keeping it soft and supple. |

| If your stools are liquid, remember this is not diarrhea but the byproduct of turning the solid compacted fecal matter in the intestinal tract into a liquid or gas.
Instructions for Performing the Liver & Gallbladder Cleanse
During the first 4 days of cleansing, I recommend the dietary instructions below or following the "Colon Diet" recommendations in Chapter 6.
1. Eat liver and gallbladder supporting organic fruits for breakfast each morning. These include watermelon, papaya, kiwi, plums, pears, apples, cherries, figs, and grapefruit. |

On the other hand, a buildup of fecal matter and hardened layers of mucus (AMA) in the large intestine drastically slows down Vata's eliminative functions in the colon and also in the rest of the body. Similarly, the accumulation of gallstones in the liver and gallbladder hinder Vata's transportation of bile and thus impairs AGNI, the digestive fire. Congestion in both of these important parts of the body directly and indirectly increase the retention of harmful substances in the intestinal tract. |
| A stiff neck on the right side indicates that the movement of fecal matter in the ascending colon is very sluggish, leading to toxic overload and irritation of the bowel. Stiffness on the left side of the neck shows that you suffer from a similar problem in the descending colon. If you also experience stiffness or pain in the top parts of the left and right shoulder, it shows that your transverse colon is affected, too. A thorough colon cleanse can rectify the situation and bring relief to these areas. (See colon cleanse procedures in Chapter 7. |
| Once they have reached the rectum, the fecal matter stretches the nerve endings in the rectal walls and causes a reflex urge for a bowel movement.
The large intestine no longer breaks down food in this stage of digestion. It simply absorbs vitamins that are created by the bacteria inhabiting the colon. The large intestine is essential for absorbing water and compacting the feces. |
| The strategic location of the appendix allows these useful microorganisms to blend with the fluid fecal matter as it begins its passage through the large intestine. More than 400 strands of beneficial bacteria live in the human gastrointestinal tract. By attaching themselves to the lining of the gut, they can elbow out potentially troublesome bacteria, such as Candida Albicans. Balanced populations of the friendly, probiotic bacteria in the gut effectively prevent vaginal and urinary tract infections. |
| The colon excretes fecal matter, mucus, dead bacteria and parasites.
• The hair and nails remove proteins, excessive mineral salts, pigments and oil.
• The skin, being the second largest organ of elimination, eliminates sweat, and yes, 40-60 percent of all the waste in the body.
• The lymphatic system, which has to continuously circulate and purify the 18 liters (19 quarts) of waste-loaded lymph fluid contained in the body, plays a major role in the detoxification process.
All of this activity, of course, requires copious quantities of water. |

| Yet some people who have a large amount of compacted fecal matter may not have a bowel movement until the second or third day, though this delay is quite normal. Each person's results will be different. After all, you probably spent years (if not decades) slowly building up the toxic waste in your digestive system, so naturally it may take a little time to break it down. The average number of daily bowel movements during the cleanse is 3 to 7.
Q. Will I lose weight during the 6 days of cleansing?
A. This cleanse is not specifically intended for weight loss. |
| X-rays performed during these stages of constipation can reveal the location of the impacted fecal matter in the bowel, and surgery is sometimes required in cases of severe constipation.
The good news is—by keeping their intestines and colons cleansed, people do not have to suffer from constipation any longer!
How Does Regular Intestinal Cleansing Eliminate Constipation? |
| While it's impossible for the skin to remove fecal matter, the epidermis (the outer layer of the skin) can show symptoms of attempting to rid the body of toxins by breaking out.
Many people ignore their constipation because they have lived with it for so long. These individuals have forgotten what it feels like to be healthy and to have normal bowel movements. Ignoring constipation is not a good idea and doing so can put your health in danger. Living with constipation should never be "acceptable" to anyone. |

Through the reversed Vata pressure, minute toxins, harmful bacteria, mucoid fecal matter and some of the harmful gases are forced all the way into the upper parts of the digestive tract, which causes something of a "traffic jam." This chaos can be felt as flatulence or intestinal bloating, cramps or feeling full. Flatus is comprised of over 250 gases, of which hydrogen is the most common. |

| In truth, the average American probably has several pounds of hard, compacted fecal matter caked along the sides of their bowels by the time they're 30 years old.
That's years worth of toxins festering away inside the body. If healthy, consistent bowel movements and regular colon cleansing had eliminated the bulk of these toxins, this situation could have been prevented. Toxic residue accumulates over time and can lead to swelling in the walls of the large intestine. This is just one of the more obvious symptoms of
"bowel toxemia" or a toxic colon. |

This is only possible if you have 9 pounds of fecal matter stuck in your digestive tract that are flushed out by the fruit. It is not humanly possible to lose 9 pounds of actual body fat in 3 days unless you're dying of cancer or radiation poisoning. Jay Robb is well educated about nutrition, of course, and he knows all this. I imagine the "9 pounds in 3 days" claim is simply a marketing hook to get people to pay attention to this very helpful nutritional guide. |

When babies are delivered conventionally, they take their first breath of air as soon as they feel air on their face; sometimes, if they get in a big breath before the doctor can clean their face, this causes them to inhale fecal matter or "birthing residue" that can cause an infection in their lungs—aspiration pneumonia. |

Senna was significantly better than PEG with regard to colonic cleanliness and less fecal matter in the colonic lumen. The risk for moderate or large intraoperative fecal soiling was lower with Senna and overall clinical tolerance did not differ significantly between the treatment groups. Senna was better tolerated in patients with stenosis. There was no statistical difference between the treatment groups with postoperative infective complications or anastomotic leakage (Valverde, 1999). |

Chronic dehydration will inevitably lead to constipation because it is water that lubricates the passage of fecal matter through your digestive tract, and secondly, consumption of products that cause stagnation will also cause constipation.
The dairy connection to constipation
Cow's milk, cheese and other products from cows promote stagnation and mucus buildup. They promote acne and sinusitis and make it difficult to move fecal matter through your system. Sadly, most people who suffer constipation end up on over-the-counter drugs or even prescription drugs just to get their bowels to move. |

Whole Body and Colon Program: Made by the Pure Body Institute (see Resources) this program uses a combination of two formulas; each uses a blend of herbs chosen for their ability to flush toxins out of the organs and old fecal matter from the intestines. The program is designed to last about 30 days. First-time users may find that three courses of the program are required for complete inner cleansing and detoxification. |

| These organisms then wait for a new host to ingest them through a contaminated source (such as food and water) or through contact with fecal matter. Symptoms of infection include severe diarrhea, bloating, gas, abdominal cramping, weight loss, greasy bowel movements, and dehydration.
Daycare centers are commonly associated with exposure to Giardia and other pathogens. In fact "19% of the clinic visits for acute diarrhea were attributable to child care, with the odds of infection being up to 3 times higher than in non-communal settings! |

Note: This type of enema allows for a gentle release of toxins and built-up fecal matter from the lower end of the colon without stressing the body. It does not upset the overall electrical balance of the colon or eliminate bowel flora.

Through gentle abdominal massage, old deposits of mucoid fecal matter are loosened, detached from the colon wall, and subsequently removed with the water.
Colonics tend to have a "relieving" effect. You will usually experience a feeling of lightness, cleanness, and increased clarity of mind following a colonic. However, during the procedure itself, you may feel slight discomfort from time to time, whenever larger quantities of toxic waste detach themselves from the intestinal walls and move toward the rectum. |

We excrete these toxins mostly when we urinate (in urine) or eliminate (in fecal matter), but also to a lesser degree when we breathe, sweat, cut our hair, and trim our nails.
Most of these wastes are the by-products of the air we breathe and the food we eat. However, our intestinal tracts are full of bacteria and yeasts that also produce waste. These bacteria and yeasts are often called gut flora or intestinal microbes. Some of these bacteria are highly beneficial. They assist with the digestion of some vitamins and they play a significant roll in our immune response. |

After food has been processed in the small intestine and nutrients extracted for use by the body, the remaining wastes are moved to the large intestine, or colon, before being expelled from the body as feces. fecal matter in bowel movements contains fiber and wastes from the digestion of food. It also contains waste products from cellular metabolism.
We should have as many bowel movements each day as the number of substantial meals we eat. When the number of movements is less than this, a condition of stagnation exists. Wherever there is stagnant food matter, there is fermentation and rotting. |

Where there is rotting, toxins are formed. When fecal matter sits in the colon for longer than normal, toxins are absorbed back into the body causing autointoxication or poisoning. Poisoning leads to disease. From this progression, we can understand the phrase, "Disease begins in the colon." That is why it is so important to have regular and good elimination. V. E. Irons, a pioneer in promoting colon cleansing, maintained that 95% of people's health problems start in the colon with self-created conditions of intestinal toxemia. |
| It is a tubular protrusion, about 3 inches long, which opens into the large intestine and produces lubricating mucus to aid in the movement of fecal matter through the bowel.1 When toxic overload conditions exist in the lower end of the small intestine and the colon, the appendix can become blocked and may abscess, requiring emergency detoxification measures or removal.
Regular bowel movements are very important for health. |

The smell is unlike that produced by fecal matter.
Olive oil cannot congeal into such relatively hard or dense structures, even if it were chemically altered and manipulated in a laboratory. This is even more impossible, given the short time frame the olive oil has to travel through the GI tract and the total unavailability of any thickening agents. Analysis of released gallstones reveals that the majority contain all the basic ingredients that make up bile fluid. Organic matter may also be present. |
