Oh well, I'm a failure, this diet is a failure, give me a pound of M&M's! Trust me, you have already learned how to eat and maintain a lower weight. You're a success, not a failure.
LEARNING FROM THE YOGA MASTERS
The second reason for accepting a plateau and continuing to do exactly what you have been doing is less immediately apparent, but perhaps more important. I want you to sit back and observe, to settle in to this new weight. Yoga practitioners get into convoluted poses that go against the natural postures of the human body. |

A clinical study that failed to show what executives had hoped and expected didn't have to be a failure. Sometimes two or three failed clinical trials of the same drug did not have to be failure. As long as the company controlled the science, failures could be repackaged as success and mediocre drugs could be turned into treasure.
Take the case of Lexapro, an antidepressant. Executives at Forest Laboratories were in a bind in 2001. |
| But viruses such as hepatitis A are not the leading cause of this organ's failure in the United States. Not by far. Instead, most Americans who suffer from liver failure have been poisoned by their medications.
Researchers reported that 51 percent of the cases of liver failure at some two dozen American medical centers in 2003 were caused by a single drug, acetaminophen, which is sold under the brand name of Tylenol and also included in a wide array of other medicines. But dozens of other drugs can cause the liver to fail, as Jerry Houk found out. |

Liver failure occurs when cell suffocation destroys so many liver cells that the number of cells required to carry out the organ's most important and vital functions is insufficient. Consequences of liver
Bile duct
Central vein
Figure 4: A liver lobule failure include drowsiness, confusion, shaking of hands/tremor, drop in blood sugar, infection, kidney failure and fluid retention, uncontrolled bleeding, coma, and death. The capability of the liver to recover from major damage, though, is truly remarkable. |

There are a million things that can go wrong on any mission, and it may be unfair to pick out one problem and focus on that as a mission failure. But the reasons these missions are failing are laughable. It's not that the complex things are going wrong, it's the simple things. And if they could just cover the simple things from the get go, it seems like they've got the complex issues mastered.
I'm not saying that I could do a better job at it, but then again, I'm not running NASA. If I were, you can bet I'd have one policy firmly in place: test the hardware before launch day, not after. |

Kidney failure. High levels of blood sugar are toxic to the kidneys, organs that help your body to filter out toxins. People with diabetes are far more likely to suffer kidney failure, which is treated with surgery and regular dialysis treatments.
Eye diseases. High levels of blood sugar make blood platelet cells abnormally sticky, increasing the risk of blood clots. These clots are especially serious in the tiny blood vessels of the eyes, where they can lead to blindness. In addition, cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration are strongly associated with glucose intolerance. |

Heart failure. Deficiency of CoQ10 makes the heart less able to do its job, leading to congestive heart failure (CHF). CHF happens when the heart becomes too weak to efficiently pump blood through the whole cardiovascular system. Blood backs up and fluid accumulates in the lungs and throughout the body. In 1968, about 10,000 people died from CHF; in 1993, that figure increased to 42,000. Could CoQ10 depletion from statin therapy have played a role in this dramatic increase? The logic seems too compelling to dismiss. |

The capability of the liver to recover from major damage, though, is truly remarkable. Once the liver cleanses have removed all gallstones, and the afflicted person discontinues using alcohol and medicinal drugs, there usually are no significant long-term consequences, even though many of the liver cells may have been destroyed during the illness. |

Liver failure isn't caused by the liver. Kidney failure isn't caused by the kidney. Pancreatic cancer isn't caused by the pancreas. These are all systemic failures that would be much better treated with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) or some other holistic modality that looks at the whole patient, not just isolated organs. Western medicine consistently makes the mistake of thinking the human body is nothing but an assembly of isolated parts.
Drugs are simply not the answer to system-wide health problems. Last time I checked, cancer wasn't caused by a lack of chemotherapy. |

Coronary artery disease. A cardiovascular disease specifically affecting the arteries that supply blood to the heart, often the cause of a heart attack.
Dementia. Mental deterioration leading to inability to think clearly or function normally.

The greatest challenge of the scientific method is determining why something works or why it fails. A failure can suggest myriad possibilities. The failure of these experiments could mean that intention cannot make healthy seeds germinate or grow any quicker than normal, or that we can't make a "healthy" system healthier (we found that in a number of studies recounted in The Intention Experiment). Or perhaps we had not made our intention specific enough. All we had specified was that the plants grow "faster and be healthier than normal. |

Unchecked, hemochromatosis can lead to liver failure, heart failure, diabetes, arthritis, infertility, psychiatric disorders, and even cancer. Unchecked, hemochromatosis will lead to death.
For more than 125 years after Armand Trousseau first described it in 1865, hemochromatosis was thought to be extremely rare. Then, in 1996, the primary gene that causes the condition was isolated for the first time. Since then, we've discovered that the gene for hemochromatosis is the most common genetic variant in peopie of Western European descent. |
| Untreated, hemolytic anemia can lead to kidney failure, heart failure, and death. those ancient greeks were onto something—for some people, fava beans are killers. They contain two sugar-related compounds called vicine and convicine. Vicine and convicine produce free radicals, especially hydrogen peroxide. When people who have favism eat fava beans, they undergo a reaction similar to the one that occurs after taking primaquine. If the hydrogen peroxide isn't cleared out with the help of G6PD, it starts to attack your red blood cells, ultimately breaking them down. |

Sometimes failure occurs primarily on the right side of the heart, which means the liver becomes congested and the patient's legs begin to swell.
When one's heart becomes severely weakened and dilated, as in Wayne's case, physicians call this cardiomyopathy. Cardiomyopathy is a very severe case of congestive heart failure. An uncommonly large, dilated heart is its hallmark.

Such an attitude will result in sure failure every time because "trying" and "hoping" are not enough. Trying and hoping introduce a little bit of doubt or fear to the mind. Think about your success with the mind-body methods instead of failure.
The thing about the subconscious mind is that it can't differentiate between what's actually going on and what is being heard or seen. The subconscious mind doesn't have good contact with the external world. It relies on conscious mind to interpret and is "suggestible" to conscious input. |

So rather than regarding your plateau as a diet failure, consider it as a chapter in your success story. Now here's the good news; when you do hit that inevitable plateau, instead of worrying about getting off it, I want you to spend the next two weeks settling in and holding your weight stable. Continue to eat your nut snacks and add more vegetables, which will provide more micronutrients to help control any cravings for carbs and urge to cheat-and continue to subtract protein. |

| It is a failure of the body's cells to obtain all the building materials essential for their construction and functioning. It is also the result of excess toxicity, which affects and eventually destroys cells, or transforms them into abnormal, wild, growing cells.
Cancer's Common Denominators
After he lost his brother to cancer, Ron Gdanski began to research the subject, and eventually wrote a book entitled CANCER Cause, Cure, and Cover-up. His research concluded that fermentation of sugars at the cellular level is present in all cancers:
Cancer is caused by the cellular environment. |
| It decays the same way rotting carcasses do, producing poisons. A failure to eliminate stems from overload problems, which in turn cause intestinal toxemia, constipation, and the malfunction of glands and organs of elimination.
In the case of a headache not caused by trauma, there are too many toxins in the blood and the body is working very hard to keep them out of the brain and eliminate them from the blood. In the process of doing this, the blood vessels can spasm or dilate in an attempt to remove the toxins from the bloodstream faster. This causes the pain. |
| Unless good air suction and a rubber dam are used, the little flying fragments will be inhaled and swallowed. failure to take these precautions causes an immediate and serious poison overload in the body which can then lead to one or more of the disease symptoms listed above.

Niacin or nicotinic acid, one of the water-soluble B vitamins, namely B3, improves levels of cholesterol ("bad" LDL drops by 10 to 20 percent and "good" HDL rises by 15 to 35 percent) and triglycerides (lower by 20 to 50 percent) when given in doses well above the basic vitamin requirement. |
| Studies show that carnitine may help to slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease and heart failure. It's also a promising therapy for angina (chest pain from poor blood flow to the heart muscle) and intermittent claudication (pain in the lower legs caused by poor circulation, generally due to arteriosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries).
The best food sources of carnitine are red meats like steak and ground beef, but even those sources offer only about 80 mg per serving—far less than the amount recommended as a supplement. |
