They are pigments used by the retina of the eye and are critical for eye health. Lycium stabilizes the small capillaries in the eyes and is used for poor night vision; dry, red, or painful eyes; macular degeneration; excessive tearing; and to help prevent cataracts and glaucoma.
• Schisandra increases visual acuity and decreases eye fatigue in tasks requiring extended visual concentration. It increases peripheral sensitivity of the retina, enhances night vision, and increases the eye's adaptation to darkness.

Applying the above theory and combining [it with] the curing theory of channel acupuncture in traditional Chinese medicine, this product uses both magnetic acupuncture and mechanical acupuncture to activate the important acupoints around the eyes and harmonize the blood, Qi, thus improving the adjusting functions of the eye muscles and eye nerve, and curing nearsightedness and all kinds of eye-related diseases. . . . This equipment is designed accurately by computer to accord to the shape of the eyes and the distribution of acupoints. |

A variety of changes occur in the eye relative to hormonal status. Postmenopausal women report dry eyes, burning, pressure, light and temperature sensitivity, blurring, tearing, eye fatigue, swollen eyelids, and a feeling of scratchiness. Dry eye syndrome can, oddly enough, cause excess tearing, and it appears to also be affected by drops in testosterone levels.
Fluctuations in hormones during perimenopause and lower levels in menopause are involved in inflammation of the gums, sensitivity of the teeth, tooth loss, and a burning sensation in the mouth and tongue. |

Melanin also determines hair and eye color. More melanin means darker hair and darker eyes. The milk white skin of an albino is caused by an enzyme deficiency that results in the production of little or no melanin. When you see the pink or red eyes that albinos usually have, you're actually seeing the blood vessels in the retina at the back of the eye, made visible by the lack of pigment in the iris.
As everybody knows, skin color changes, to some extent, in response to sun exposure. The trigger for that response is the pituitary gland. |

This gentle squeezing produces a tiny, less than a millimeter change in the length of the eye and actually lengthens it for near focusing. A nearsighted person has chronic partial spasms in this muscle so it never completely releases. Therefore the eye is always configured for near vision. Nearsighted people often have pain above the eye under the eyebrow due to this tension and stress. Conversely, a farsighted person sometimes experiences pain in the temples where some of the oblique muscles underlie. |

For example, in your eyes you have the genes for every tissue in your body, but only the eye genes are turned on. You do not have skin genes turned on in your eyes. Conversely, in your skin, your eye genes (which are present there) are turned off, so you never have eyes growing out of the skin on your arm. (Although some frogs have been found with extra legs or eyes growing out of their stomachs. What does that say?) What this means is that some genes are always "on" or "off; others are sometimes on and sometimes off. If it is always on, a gene will always be expressed. figure 5. |

John's history was that he had juvenile diabetes and was losing his sight. The root cause of his declining vision, though, was that he'd seen so much tragedy in his life and gotten to the point where he didn't want to see any more. John's mind had built up the distorted belief that life was a series of disasters and that the future only brought more heartache. |

If you get chlorine or sodium hypochlorite in your eye -- that's what's in chlorine bleach -- after four seconds of it being in your eye, it is likely to cause damage that's non-repairable. Four seconds. Now, if you get it in your eye, I don't know if you can even get to the sink that fast and turn the water on quick enough.
Mike: Right.

By relaxing your eyelids and eye muscles, you are slowing down your thought processes - and the end result of relaxation of the eyes and of other parts of the body is a natural, quiet and restorative sleep. If you have insomnia, reading just before going to sleep or reading to put yourself to sleep is not helpful because your eye muscles are probably already over-fatigued. Reading will tire them more, increasing the eye muscle tension and interfering with the process of relaxation which, uninterrupted, would inevitably lead to sleep. |

Light comes from the human eye, they sensibly reasoned, and things got bright because the eye was pointed at them. Drawings of the time show draftsmen and laborers going around the streets of Renaissance Florence with Superman-style light cones beaming out of their eyes. It was a plausible idea, especially as the drawings always showed street scenes during the day and, as everyone knows it's impossible to see people during the day without pointing your eyes at them, these invisible light beams from the eye no doubt swinging along like searchlights as the head was moved. |

| In the process, the vitreous humor (the liquid/gel solution contained within the eye) loses most of its glucose. Scientists found that a rapid loss of glucose within the eye causes nerve damage in the retinal area of the eye. Tight control, recommended by the ADA, places diabetics at increased risk. These ADA recommendations are followed like a veritable "bible" by most practicing physicians.

Even more serious, direct installation into the eye has taken place when visually impaired individuals mistake an instant glue container for their prescription eyedrops. The packaging of both, it should be noted, is often remarkably similar. |

Workers who apply Bt sprays reported eye, nose, throat, and respiratory irritation. The frequency of symptoms correlated with the degree of exposure.27 The allergic symptoms associated with Bt spray exposure (allergic rhinitis (sneezing, running nose, watery eyes), dermatitis (skin inflammation), pruritis (itching), swelling, erythema (redness) with conjunctival infection (red eye), exacerbations of asthma, angioedema (facial swelling), and rash)28 are nearly identical to those of Bt cotton workers in section 1.5. |

DRY AND BURNING EYES
Tear production for the normal functions of the eye is absolutely essential. In some people, this function is deficient and the eyes feel a burning sensation. Much blinking may take place to promote circulation to the tear glands. If this is ineffective, the eyes will be forced to shut to prevent water loss by evaporation. In some people, like myself, who may have had Bell's palsy (an obstruction of the facial nerve that also causes paralysis of the face muscles on that side), tear formation in one eye often becomes affected. |

After reading about unwinding spasms with magnesium oil, I diluted a little in an eyedropper bottle until the salinity was neutral to my tears and comfortably dropped it into my eyes. The effect is subtle, but I experienced some of my best distant vision (my challenge is nearsightedness) a day after using the drops for two days. |

What to do then? more pills ... NO ... I decided with the help of RAW friends to go RAW immediately.... I was going on a trip to Germany and had no doubts that I would survive following the RAW diet. My family overseas had prepared all kinds of cooked foods and baked cakes for my arrival. I announced to them that, on doctors orders, I had to continue RAW... a big silence followed ... |

Broccoli does indeed contain two phytochemicals thought to help eye health, lutein and zeaxanthin, and fend off macular degeneration (an age-related eye disease).
Broccoli may help reduce inflammation and joint pain. Laboratory studies show that sulforaphane may also block an enzyme that triggers inflammation and joint pain. This is great news for those who suffer from arthritis or give their bones and joints a beating by running on hard surfaces or playing contact sports. |

Cluster headaches, a type of migraine, typically cause severe pain around or behind one eye. Sinus headaches are caused by congestion and possibly infection of the sinuses. The pain is usually in the face, spreading from above the eyes to as far as the gum line. A feeling of pressure is common.
Persistent headaches without a specific cause may be due to your environment or food intake. In this case, start with the Cleanse and Fortify Program described in chapter 4 to bring your body back into balance. After a few days, continue with the Optimal Nutrient Support program to ensure good health. |

Constant redness in the white of the eye. This condition is caused by the protrusion of capillaries, indicating disorders in the circulatory and respiratory functions. White or yellow mucus patches in the white of the eye show that the body is accumulating abnormal amounts of fatty substances because the liver and gallbladder have amassed large quantities of gallstones. When this occurs, the body has a tendency to develop cysts and both benign and malignant tumors.
A thick white line covers parts of the periphery of the iris, particularly the lower parts. |

The tongue is coated yellow or white, especially in the back part.
This indicates an imbalance in the secretion of bile, which is the major cause of digestive trouble. Toxic residues of undigested and fermented or putrefied food linger in the intestinal tract. This blocks lymph flow in the thoracic duct and prevents toxins and microbes in the throat and mouth area from being removed. |
