From that point forward, you just buy adulterated hoodia, or counterfeit hoodia, and you fill all your bottles with that substance, which could include sawdust, cellulose, ground up leaves or any other plant material. Then it looks to the world like you're selling the real thing, because you have this certificate, and you have lab tests that show it to be genuine. Of course, all these con artist web sites have text on them that says, "We're the only ones with real genuine hoodia, and everybody else is counterfeit.
I can assure you that right now, if you search Google for hoodia gordonii, at least five out of the top 10 results that show up there as advertisers represent counterfeit hoodia products. There's absolutely no question about this. In fact, it's probably a much higher percentage than that, but you can count on at least half of them being counterfeit. Again, I'm not going to name which ones they are, for legal reasons, and it's very frustrating for me to have to censor myself in that regard out of fear of legal backlash from those companies.

When there's money to be made fooling people, you can bet someone will step up to the plate and start selling counterfeit hoodia at a premium. One hoodia source, I've been told, is selling ground up tree bark as hoodia powder. Another is selling plants that aren't even the right species! If you're on the Internet searching for hoodia, it's almost impossible to know you're buying the real deal. There are simply far too many con artists on the loose, and they know that people are desperate for hoodia. Everybody wants to lose weight, right?

In fact, there are really two camps of counterfeit hoodia sellers in the United States: 1) those who know they're selling fake hoodia but don't care, and 2) those who don't want to know whether their hoodia is fake or genuine, so they don't ask the tough questions of their suppliers. Truth Publishing believes the counterfeit hoodia gordonii supplement market is made of both types of companies: there are several high-end companies whose hoodia products tested as unconfirmed even though the companies have a strong track record of quality control and honesty.

In fact, odds are that if hoodia ads appear in the ad boxes for this article, some or all of those ads are promoting counterfeit hoodia products. It all depends on which ads appear, of course, and we don't control that, but make no mistake: Many of the top hoodia advertisers in the search engines are actually the top con artists. It's no exaggeration to say that your favorite search engine that starts with a "G" is making millions off counterfeit hoodia product ads. But not intentionally: They're being duped just like many consumers. Who can you trust?

And he wins big, because buying counterfeit hoodia is a lot cheaper than buying the real thing. The consumer, meanwhile, gets screwed by paying retail prices for fake products. Stealing even more intellectual property

Thinking that a con artist who would sell counterfeit hoodia, steal feature articles, play nasty trademark games with competitors, deceive consumers with bogus product comparison charts and use Nevada shell corporations might also be up to other questionable activity, we decided to find out if the Pure Hoodia product was possibly violating federal labeling laws. As it turns out, we were right: the Pure Hoodia product is deceptively labeled and is right now being sold in violation of federal laws and FDA regulations. To find this out, we purchased a high-end digital scale called the i2600.
Of course, even if they were to contain 400mg of powder, the powder is counterfeit hoodia to begin with. But what this indicates is a double scam: the powder is counterfeit, and customers are being short-changed on the dosage. Pure Hoodia uses the wrong capsules A closer look at the capsules used by Pure Hoodia reveals the problem: the company is using capsules that are too small to hold 400mg of powder. The capsules themselves are simply too tiny.
counterfeit hoodia product ads. But not intentionally: They're being duped just like many consumers. Who can you trust? As I hinted above, there are honest players in the hoodia market. In no way do I claim to know all the honest players, but the ones that I definitely know to be honest are: Strictly Health (Hoodoba brand, pictured at right) at www.Hoodia-DietPills.com Millennium Health (Hoodia Hoodia brand) at www.HoodiaHoodia.com Desert Burn at www.DesertBurn.
Sooner or later, somebody is going to keel over from popping a whole bottle of counterfeit hoodia pills that don't even contain real hoodia. The FDA will issue a misinformed warning statement and the press will go ape nuts crazy over it. Television shows will find "experts" who will testify that hoodia is dangerous. Hoodia will get banned, and that just might be the end of the hoodia industry. So if you want genuine hoodia gordonii, you may want to order it now. Don't buy it retail: None of the retail hoodia products that I'm aware of are made with genuine hoodia gordonii.

It is important to note that even counterfeit hoodia supplements have never been known to actually kill people (as many prescription drugs most certainly do). Yet that is no excuse for the dishonest practices by those hoodia supplements companies who knowingly sell counterfeit products to consumers. What's in the hoodia pills if not hoodia? One obvious question from these results is: if it's not hoodia in these supplements, then what's in there?

Pure Hoodia, Inc. is failing to fill their capsules with the promised quantity of powder. Our tests on a digital scale showed that capsules from the PureHoodia.com company contained only 290mg of powder, not 400mg. (Actual digital scale results and photos shown below.) Pure Hoodia, Inc. has sought to steal intellectual property from a competing hoodia company by attempting to preemptively register / steal its trademark and product name. (Documents shown below.)
