It's all about clean water. As humans began to settle in cities and towns, they got their first taste of the sanitation and waste management problems that still plague cities today—but without even the possibility of modern plumbing. This made clean water a real challenge, and some theories suggest that different civilizations came up with different solutions. In Europe, they used fermentation—and the resulting alcohol killed microbes, even when, as was often the case, it was mixed with water. On the other side of the world, people purified their water by boiling it and making tea. |

Drink six to eight glasses of clean water per day - avoid tap water. clean water is the primary beverage to consume between meals and may be consumed with meals. Teas that do not have any sweetener are acceptable in moderation, as long as they do not upset the stomach or induce food cravings. Organic green tea is preferred. Carbonated water may disturb digestion and induce cravings. Some is acceptable as long as it does not cause problems; definitely do not live on it as the 6-8 glasses of water per day. |

Over time, as stimulants are replaced with wholesome food, clean water, fresh air, exercise, positive attitudes, and health-restoring supplements, the body will cleanse itself and begin to produce increasing energy. We will experience new feelings of vitality that are genuine and lasting.
FOOD ADDICTIONS
We all become addicted to certain foods for various payoffs, be they physical (more energy), psychological/emotional (feel better, calmer, happier), or chemical (satisfy a craving). A diseased or unhealthy part of the body is in control. |
| We know that they need clean water, air, sunshine, and agreeable temperatures.
Yet, when it comes to our bodies, we typically ignore common sense. We treat them as if they were super "garbage digesters" with stainless steel parts. We don't question whether the food we consume helps or hinders the body. We dump greasy foods, sugar, salt, alcohol, harmful food additives, drugs, and more into our stomachs. Some of us smoke. We deprive our bodies of regular rest. Some of us worry ourselves half to death on a regular basis. Yet, we expect to be healthy. |

The Sanitarians sought to prevent particularly urban disease by cleansing cities of their disease-ridden grime, improving the housing stock, providing clean water, educating and morally reforming the poor, and harnessing the new sciences of statistics and hygiene to quantify and improve the public health. Using statistics, Sanitarians could prove that their methods, expensive, and time-consuming though they were, worked—and worked to produce not merely purer environments and healthier cities, but what they saw as a more moral and more Christian culture as well. |

On the other side of the world, people purified their water by boiling it and making tea. However both "problems" are solved by using it in a diluted mix with fresh clean water. A little goes a very long way—a quart of the expensive "real" stuff can easily be stretched to four quarts of a nice diluted, healthful mix. Rinse the leaves in cold, clean water and mash them up. Press the leaves and gather the juice—or try using a juicer. Add the juice to warm water and wash the hair once a week, for three weeks. Your scalp should become less itchy, and the amount of dandruff should be reduced significantly.
Acupuncture: According to traditional Chinese medicine, dandruff could be a secondary symptom of an internal disorder or imbalance. There are many meridians directly connecting the internal systems with the head/scalp. |

The efficient removal of body wastes and toxins simply cannot happen in the absence of adequate clean water. We must drink enough water regularly. If we wait until we are thirsty before drinking, we are already dehydrated.
Fasting
Fasting is the deliberate creation of conditions that allow the body an opportunity to restore itself to its original state of excellence. Giving our digestive systems and organs a rest from having to process a continual load of food is a great benefit. We cannot eat and detoxify at the same time. Taking solid foods during days of fasting is counter-productive. |

| For pure clean water, my recommendation is to drink distilled water, Wellness Water*, (see "Water" in the Resources section), or water from a well dug on clean, uncontaminated land. Distilling water involves boiling, evaporating, and then condensing the water, and finally storing it in a sterile container (preferably glass). As the water is boiled, chemicals and other toxins are removed. The drawback of distillation is that important minerals are removed from the water along with the contaminants. |
| However, our colons need pure water, and we just can't count on bottled water companies or our government to provide us with clean water. It's up to all of us to do something. Without public outcry, this practice will continue on and on, so please write to your state representatives, city council members, the FDA, and the president. Ask them to support a clean environment by outlawing toxic chemicals in our water and environment. |

Much like clean water, clean laundry should NOT contain toxic chemical residues. In fact, it's more important to consider what laundry products do NOT contain than to look at what they do contain.
What Maggie's Soap Nuts do NOT contain include:
Foaming chemicals that fool consumers into thinking their clothes are cleaner because there are "suds" in the wash. TRUTH: Suds have nothing to do with cleaning. They are chemical additives used to create the illusion of cleaning action. (Silly consumers actually expect suds, so the manufacturers add them in. |

It is this attitude that allows people to go out and plunder the planet; strip the planet of its minerals, raw materials and clean water, then dump polluted water back in to the rivers, streams and oceans; to use clean air and return only toxic waste, jet fuel exhaust, car exhaust and coal plant exhaust into the atmosphere. Corporations say, "This piece of paper from the U.S. Patent Office says I own this gene sequence, this seed, this piece of land." It's amazing.

They also are not required to follow the EPA's new lead reporting requirements, or any measures of the clean water Act or the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. This is because the EPA does not interpret the act of firing bullets into the soil or water as "discarding" lead -- just one of a number of loopholes that allow firing ranges to operate despite unlimited lead contamination.
Still, not everyone is convinced that lead bullets represent one of the biggest causes of lead contamination on the environment. |

Stop all unnecessary "energy leaks" and allow your body to get enough rest
• Clear up the blocked bile ducts of the liver
• Remove kidney stones/grease
• Clean the passages of the gastrointestinal tract
• Take in enough fresh air, clean water, natural sunlight and nutrient-rich food
• Move your body regularly
All of these are necessary to sustain bodily functions, including the elimination of daily-generated metabolic and cellular waste products. |

After filling sections of the hoses with clean water, sealing the ends, and putting them outside for about a day, they then brought that water to a lab. What they discovered was astonishing: five of the ten hoses came back with levels of lead higher than what the EPA allows for drinking water, which is 15 parts per billion.
Between the Mattel recalls and coverage by ABC News of the garden hose story, the cry for a stronger national standard on lead in all products is growing louder. |

A river of pure, clean water flows more easily and with less friction than a river that is filled with filth and mud. One of the liver's most important functions is to keep the blood thin so that it can distribute nutrients to the cells, collect waste materials, and carry messenger hormones to their destinations on time. Thick blood is a common denominator for most illnesses in the body, and you can recognize it by a lack of flexibility in certain parts of the body, along with other symptoms, including tiredness. |
| In contrast, a nourishing diet consists of natural, unpolluted foods and fresh, clean water. Only very few societies have managed to maintain their youth and health at all age levels. Such peoples live in remote and secluded areas, such as the Abkhasian Mountains in Southern Russia; the Himalayan Mountains in India, Tibet, and China; the Andes in South America; and in parts of northern Mexico. Their diet consists only of pure, fresh foods. Thankfully, you don't need to live in remote areas of the world to be healthy. |

Those that meet Standard 53 make healthy, clean water a priority rather than just focusing on aesthetic qualities.
For many people, an activated carbon filter bearing NSF Standard 53 certification will do an effective job. Following is an explanation of common filters. |

Every wave carried its own musical note, and the progression of waves formed a lilting melody. As each wave landed at his feet, it carried some portion of his cancer with it, washing him clean of the disease.

If the growth of frogs is being stunted and male fish are producing eggs, could far more subtle changes be occurring in humans? And what other environmental consequences may await us? Already scientists have traced a widespread ecological disaster of a different sort to a prescription drug.
