Perhaps 2007 is the new Golden Age of children's health, to be initiated with a mass injection of kiddies with a dozen new toxic mercury injections to "protect" these kids from things that will probably never happen to them. Maybe now, in 2007, organized medicine has reversed all its years of bullsnot and finally found the light! And that light, we're told, comes in the form of a pill... or a vaccine... or chemotherapy... or whatever they tell you to take next.
Yes, indeed! We've been saved by Big Pharma and a brigade of doctors! Hail the FDA! Praise the pharmaceutical giants! |
| Doctors still don't recognize the important role of vitamin D in children's health, and they prescribe drugs to treat the symptoms of disease rather than recommending vitamin D (which would correct the underlying problems and eliminate the need for pharmaceuticals).
Does your baby have a cough? Feed 'em sugared-up, chemically-contaminated cough syrup made by pharmaceutical companies. Don't worry that it's never been tested on infants or approved by the FDA. It works, right? It's doctor-recommended! Result: Over a billion doses of useless, "quack" cough medicine swallowed by infants. |

And since having two kids, she had a keen interest in children's health. In her mid 30s, Jane merged her interests into a new career as vice president of research at the Environmental Working Group, specializing in exposing the health risks from toxins in food, air, water and consumer products. But she never wove together the threads of cosmetics, chemicals and children's health until a warm day in October 2000.

Misinformation can create a strong conflict in parents because they don't want to neglect their children's health or cause them any harm.
Most health authorities are not exactly helpful in supporting parents to choose what is best for their children. In spite of damaging evidence, such as the following, they still support the use of immunizations. For instance, the use of the mercury-based thimerosal as a preservative in vaccines has been associated with autism. |

Nobody can say what effect, if any, the chemicals will have on the children's health. Biomonitoring studies detect chemicals in people at extremely low levels, but they can't predict health effects. However, the studies show that toxic chemicals are turning up where they shouldn't be, at the most precarious of times — in the sacred space of the womb and during the most at-risk times of childhood development. |
| A chemist might work to create a cheap polymer dye that was the perfect shade of crimson red, for instance, but he wasn't also making sure the dye was non-toxic, biodegradable and safe for children's health. Nobody was asking those questions. The government didn't require companies to ask those questions. Universities didn't require chemists to understand the biological and environmental impacts of the products they were creating. The majority of industrial chemicals were allowed onto the market with no safety testing to determine their health impacts. |

They found that too much hygiene could be damaging children's health, weakening their immune systems and making them prone to illnesses such as asthma. A few decades ago such diseases as asthma, eczema, and hay fever were almost nonexistent. Today, as many as one third of the population suffer from allergies. Scientists now say that our obsession with the latest anti-germ potions and over-reliance on soap and water may explain why the Western world has been hit by a spate of viruses, immune-related diseases, and allergies. |
| Still, vaccines are given indiscriminately regardless of the children's health status. Many children at infancy don't even get the chance to be healthy later in life because they are pumped full of these poisons against which they are helpless. At this stage of development, a child has not yet acquired full natural immunity and has little ability to protect himself. |

Because they completely fail to recognize these crucial facts about vaccines and children's health:
1) Many of the vaccines being administered today are designed to prevent non-lethal infections like Chicken Pox. Saving a child from Chicken Pox is not a heroic, lifesaving act except in extremely rare cases. (See below...)
2) More importantly, children who experience Chicken Pox have stronger immune systems as a result. The immune system needs to be exercised for it to remain strong. |

You sound very well informed on what the most modern nutritionists and proponents of not just health, but mental health and children's health and well-being in our schools believe. This is also for people right here on our own soil. What we largely see in other countries – really with educated Europe being an exception – is this out-and-out embrace of McDonald's and KFC and a belief that this, in a lot of ways, is a revolution: "We finally have the KFC, thank God. We're civilized now." How confusing that must be when that comes along with other medications that are beneficial. |

| Safeguard your children's health. Reports from the Natural Resources Defense Council (1989) and the Environmental Working Group (1998) found that millions of American children are exposed to levels of pesticides through their food that surpass limits considered safe. Some of these pesticides are known neurotoxins with the potential to harm a developing brain and nervous system. Others, with carcinogenic activity, may wreak even more damage in children and adolescents, whose higher growth rates equal higher rates of cell turnover, particularly as their sexual organs develop. |

The corporate imperative to maximize profits will always ultimately run roughshod over the ethical obligation to safeguard children's health and well-being.
Ten Tips for Critically Evaluating Corporate Self-regulatory Ad Policies:
1. Always read the original corporate press release and don't rely on media or other secondhand accounts of what the policy says. Also, be sure to read the release to the end, where the devilish details can be buried.
2. Ask: what's the timing of the announcement? Is the company trying to take advantage of some other major public relations opportunity?
