The new research on processed meats points to a chemical toxin as the cause of the increased cancer risk. A heightened cancer risk of 67% is "gigantic," warns Adams. "This is clearly not due to macronutrient differences. This is the kind of risk increase you only see with ingredient toxicity. Something in these processed meats is poisoning people, and the evidence points straight to sodium nitrite."

The researchers also noted that pterostilbene inhibited certain genes involved in inflammation, considered a colon cancer risk factor.
Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. It has been linked to a high intake of saturated fats and calories common in Western diets. Pterostilbene may be able to reverse this process, possibly by lowering lipids, Reddy said.
Reddy cited a recent study by co-author Agnes Rimando of the Department of Agriculture. Rimando demonstrated that blueberries, particularly their skins, can lower cholesterol when fed to animals. |

While the study did not specifically name sodium nitrite as the cause of the heightened cancer risk, the huge spike in toxicity and cancer risk can only be explained by something added during meat processing, explains Mike Adams, author of "Grocery Warning," a manual that teaches consumers how to avoid foods that promote chronic disease. Information at: http://www.TruthPublishing.com/GroceryWarning.html
"We've known for years that sodium nitrite consumption leads to leukemia in children and brain tumors in infants," explained Adams. |

The true cause of the heightened cancer risk is the widespread use of a carcinogenic precursor ingredient known as sodium nitrite by food processing companies, says nutritionist Mike Adams, author of the just-published Grocery Warning manual at: http://www.TruthPublishing.com/GroceryWarning.html
Nearly all processed meats are made with sodium nitrite: breakfast sausage, hot dogs, jerkies, bacon, lunch meat, and even meats in canned soup products. |

The reason for their higher cancer risk is not too much sunlight, but too little of it.
In support of previous findings that Vitamin D prevents cancer, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, in its June 2007 issue [85(6): 1586-91, published the first large-scale, randomized, placebo-controlled study on vitamin D and cancer. It showed that vitamin D can cut cancer risks by as much as 60 percent. The study observed nearly 1,200 women, aged 55 and older, over the course of four years. The women were divided into two groups. |

GENERAL EXERCISE PROGRAM here is strong and rapidly accumulating evidence that muscular exertion reduces cancer risk. The following recommendations are based on a review of recent scientific literature on physical exercise and cancer risk reduction:
1. To prevent injuries, begin each exercise session with Joint Warming Exercises and end each exercise session with Basic Stretches (see the following pages).
2. Exercise six days a week. Walk or do moderate hiking on your day off.
3. Alternate aerobic (cardiovascular) with strength (weight lifting) exercises.

High levels of IGF-1 raise cancer risk
IGF-1 causes cells to divide; more than three dozen studies unequivocally link high levels to increased cancer risk.8 A Harvard study of 15,000 white males found those with elevated blood levels to be four times more likely to get prostate cancer than average men.9 In a Lancet study, premenopausal US women below age 50 with high IGF-1 levels were seven times as likely to develop breast cancer. |

The results, published in Cancer Epidemiological Biomarkers and Prevention in February 2006, noted that while no associations were observed for intakes of specific dairy foods or calcium and ovarian cancer risk, "A modest elevation in the risk of ovarian cancer was seen for lactose intake at the level that was equivalent to three or more servings of milk per day." The researchers noted that since three servings is exactly what the dietary guidelines recommend, "the relation between dairy product consumption and ovarian cancer risk at these consumption levels deserves further examination. |

In my opinion, their astonishing ignorance of vitamin D's effects on the cancer risk of black women is inexcusable. These people have a responsibility to know the basics when it comes to preventing cancer with nutrition, and when they remain utterly ignorant of these simple concepts, they post a dire risk to public health. Anyone foolish enough to follow their advice will only end up a victim of chemotherapy, radiation or useless cancer surgeries.
And why do I get so riled up about this topic? Because black women are needlessly dying of a disease that's simple to prevent, that's why! |

Many alternative practitioners advise even lower intakes because of some of the additional benefits, such as reduction of breast, ovarian, and uterine cancer risk.
In addition to amount of fat, the type of fat is also important. Understanding the harmful effects of some fats and the beneficial effects of others can be confusing. A little explanation of terms and concepts may go a long way in clarifying the issue. Fats are the most concentrated source of food energy. Each gram of fat provides 9 calories, compared with only 4 calories per gram for carbohydrates or protein. |

And yet other research finds that, with adjustments for all these other risk factors, virtually all the antidepressant-breast cancer risk is either not significant or eliminated.35
What should a woman conclude? I think it is reasonable to assume that the risk is not great. However, this is where doing animal studies makes great sense. We can do experiments on animals which would not be possible on humans, and it is possible to control variables that may contribute to cancer risk in them, unlike human experiments. Many animal studies have found an antidepressant-cancer link. |

Pizza is made with refined flour (which lacks vitamins and minerals) that's cooked to high temperatures (creating cancer-causing acrylamides), then smothered with tomato sauce made with refined sugar (yes, there's sugar in most pizza sauce), then layered with more processed meat (yet more cancer risk) and processed cheese (can you spell H-E-A-R-T D-I-S-E-A-S-E?). Slapping a few flappy bits of overcooked green peppers and canned mushrooms into this pie does NOT make it a health food.
Geesh. You would think this stuff would be obvious by now. |

The research reveals something truly astonishing: That a mere 3 servings of raw cruciferous vegetables a month slashes bladder cancer risk by 73 percent in non-smokers. That's just three servings in a whole month. Imagine the anti-cancer effects derived from drinking a small amount of cruciferous vegetables every single day! (And it tastes great, believe me, because you're using such a small amount of cruciferous veggies compared to all the other ingredients.)

For those consumers who still choose to purchase meat, Adams urges them to check the ingredients labels for "sodium nitrite" -- the chemical additive that many researchers believe to be responsible for much of the increased cancer risk of processed meat products. "Eating sodium nitrite is quite simply dangerous to your health," Adams said. "Consumers who still want to eat meat products should look for nitrite-free meats, which are often available in the frozen foods or natural foods section of a grocery store. |

Pomegranate: Anti-cancer, protects the heart and cardiovascular system
Blueberry: Lowers high cholesterol, protects the nervous system from oxidative damage (many people can eliminate statin drugs by eating more blueberries)
Acai: Anti-cancer, reduces digestive cancer risk, supports healthy nervous system function

Cherry: Anti-inflammatory. Reduces or ends arthritis pain. Anthocyanins are also anti-cancer. |

#4: Why do you call apple juice and grape juice "junk juices?"
Many superfruit juice products that claim "pomegranate" or "blueberry" on the front label are actually made mostly with cheaper juices such as grape and apple. These are fillers juices that have very little nutritional value compared to pomegranate, blueberry, acai and others.

Recent research shows that vitamin D supplements (or sunlight exposure, which produces vitamin D), slash cancer risk by an astonishing 77% in women (and that includes ALL cancers).
There will never be a chemical cure for cancer, because cancer is not a disease based on germs, an infection, parasite or virus. There is no chemical that can cure cancer, but there are many natural remedies and prevention strategies that very effectively eliminate cancer. Scientists aren't looking for those, however. They're steeped in the world of synthetic chemical medicine.

Poisoning your body with toxic sunscreen chemicals while blocking nourishing sunlight that generates vitamin D (which reduces overall cancer risk by about 50%) is nothing short of health lunacy. Then exposing your breast tissue to mammogram radiation while calling it "prevention" makes about as much sense as smoking cigarettes to prevent Tuberculosis because the toxic cigarette smoke kills viruses. Mammography actually causes breast cancer, and as previous research has shown, ten women are ultimately harmed by breast cancer screening programs for every one woman who is helped or saved by it. |

A review of a series of animal and in vitro studies evaluating the antitumor and immune-enhancing effects of aged Garlic extract suggests potential use in the treatment of bladder cancer. Animal and in vitro studies provided evidence that Garlic may inhibit carcinogenesis, inhibit cancer cell growth, and promote chemical carcinogen detoxification. |

If Ritalin, for example, were preventing brain cancer in at-risk children, it might be reasonable to trade a reduction of cancer risk with stunted growth. But Ritalin has no justifiable medical use whatsoever and is, in fact, more a form of chemical mind control than anything resembling real medicine. To place the growth of children at risk in order to give them a drug so powerful that it would be illegal if sold to children on the street is to engage in medical madness. |
