Body odor can be eliminated through a change in diet

Mike Adams, the Health Ranger

And if the bacteria alone were the cause of the odor, you could eliminate body odor by sterilizing your armpits with rubbing alcohol or iodine tincture. (Try it, if you like: it still won't eliminate the odor.) The real cause of armpit odor is the intentional excretion of horrible toxins that your body is trying to get rid of. And by using deodorant products, you block the exit door and force those toxins to stay in your system! The way to eliminate body odor, then, is not to mask it with unhealthful deodorant products, but rather to clean up your body from the inside out.

REPPED: Today we're going to dive into a touchy subject: body odor. I'm not going to dance around the subject, either, because body odor can actually be an important indicator of your overall health and dietary habits. What you exhale through your breath and your skin is a good indicator of what's going on inside your body. If you start to stink within hours of not using deodorant, rest assured there is putrefaction or fermentation going on inside your body, and that indicates a poor diet, usually. Did you know that dogs can smell cancer on your breath? This has been verified by scientists.

My own body odor used to be rather disgusting when I followed the standard American diet like most people do. I had to use massive doses of brand name deodorant products just to try to cover up the odor. Only later did I learn that those products are made with cancer-causing chemical fragrances that are absorbed directly into your bloodstream, through your armpits, where they enter your liver and promote liver disease, cancer, and a variety of other disorders.
When you eliminate these from your diet and shift to a 100% healthful diet made of whole grains, massive quantities of leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, soy products, supergreens, lots of sprouts, raw nuts and seeds, healthy oils and other similar healthful ingredients, your body odor will all but disappear in a matter of weeks. That's because a plant-based diet is an internal deodorizer. It's true: the chlorophyll and other phytonutrients will cleanse you from the inside out. Some of the best foods for that include parsley, cilantro, celery and all mint species.

If you find that, during the 48 hours, you can't stand being around yourself because of your own body odor, then that's a strong indicator that it's time to start changing what you eat. Americans love to cover up symptoms rather than address their root cause. We like shortcuts, and it's a lot easier and quicker to apply a paste of aluminum salts to our armpits than actually clean up our metabolic processes. Americans are typically very hesitant to make lifestyle changes that require giving up their favorite foods, which might be chicken fried steak, a milkshake or a grilled cheese sandwich.

I've noticed that people who consume a large quantity of red meat on a regular basis tend to have much stronger body odor than those who avoid it. Some people tell me just the opposite -- they say it's vegetarians who stink because they run around wearing no deodorant whatsoever. But my experience is that if a vegetarian stinks, they aren't following a healthy diet even though they are avoiding meat. (You can be vegetarian and extremely unhealthy if you consume a lot of processed foods.

The fact is, body odor is primarily the toxic gas from the fermentation or putrefaction processes going on inside your body due to the ingestion of animal products and processed, refined foods. Yes, there are bacteria in your armpits, but the kinds of bacteria that are living there depend on what you are "feeding" them. In other words, if your body is emitting nontoxic waste products, it's just perspiring excess minerals and normal healthy metabolic byproducts.
With special training, these dogs can actually smell cancer.
In terms of nutritional supplements, the best "cleaning" supplements that can reduce your body odor are chlorella and parsley. The culinary spice cilantro also does a great job. Chlorophyll works wonders for cleaning your blood of toxins. But none of these can completely counteract the metabolic byproducts of consuming animal products. I've even found that whey protein, including the clean, organic whey proteins, still result in "dirty" metabolic processes that produce odor. Brown rice protein, however, is clean. (I recommend the Nutribiotic brand.
And above all, if you want to eliminate body odor for life, avoid cheese, milk and dairy products. They make you smell like "milk and butter." The smell of these products is so bad that when U.S. soldiers were shipped off to Vietnam in the 1960's, the Vietcong could actually smell them thanks to their American diets. New arrivals were often put on new diets based on local cuisine simply to rid their bodies of the milk-and-butter smell, thereby reducing the risk of being literally sniffed out by the enemy. The Vietcong knew what few Americans will admit: We stink of dairy products.

As a sidebar to the body odor discussion, all the things that come out of your body are strong indicators of your current level of health, as well as what adjustments you need to make in order to be healthier. It's interesting to note that for hundreds of years, physicians actually tasted the urine of their patients and were able to make medical diagnoses by taste analysis alone. As bizarre as this sounds, it actually makes good sense. The human tongue is perhaps the finest natural chemical composition sensor known to modern medicine. (Dogs' noses are also good at this.

This type of body odor is medically known as eccrine bromhidrosis because the odor emanates from the eccrine sweat glands. (See Sweat, above.) An odd odor can be a reaction to certain medications, including penicillin, some antidepressants, glaucoma drugs, and some cancer drugs. It can also be a strong hint that a person has been hitting the bottle too much. However, if someone's sweat smells like beer, it may not be from overindulging. Rather, it could signal a yeast infection. (See Vaginal Discharge, above.) Unpleasant or unusual body odors can also signal a number of other disorders.

In TCM, the practitioner considers the flow of vital energy (qi) in a patient through close examination of the patient's pulse, tongue, body odor, voice tone and strength, and general demeanor, among other elements. Darren's tongue was flabby and slightly pale with a red tip; he also had scalloped "teeth marks" on the sides of his tongue and his pulses were "slippery." All of these signs indicated that Darren's spleen and stomach were deficient in energy, meaning he was not producing enough blood or digestive power.

I have actually written about body odor a lot, and when people who eat the milk, the yogurt and the butter and the animal fat, they really begin to take on the smell of those substances throughout. Chlorella is something that can really help cleanse that smell. Dr. Liers: Interestingly enough, you cannot only do chlorella internally, chlorella externally is phenomenal. Because of all the growth factors in it, you can put it on a wound and it will just heal so fast you cannot believe it. I am a big one for using herbal poultices for spider bites and anything that gets into your skin.

Meat eaters especially have a tendency to develop bad body odor. Stick to fruits, vegetables, and salads as your main source of alkaline-forming foods. They also work as natural cleansers. • Stop using deodorants and antiperspirants; they only reinforce the problem by blocking off part of your lymphatic system and dispersing the toxins together with the chemicals contained in these products into other parts of your body, including the breasts. This can cause lumps and cancer of the breast!
I tend to perspire profusely and, sometimes, have a strong, unpleasant body odor. => I prefer cool foods and beverages; heat irritates me. => I may retain water and have a puffy face or swollen eyes. => I am quick to lose my temper and can be irritable, cynical and sharp. => I can get angry very easily but calm down again quickly. => I have a strong appetite, and I often eat more than I need. => I feel uncomfortable when I skip a meal or if it is delayed. => I have very regular bowel movements, and it is more likely for me to have loose stools than to be constipated.
But instead of reading the body's symptoms as a sign of imbalance and taking care of it, most people merely search for ways to shut down the symptoms. If body odor occurs only occasionally, it may be due to indigestion or chemicals in foods. To combat the bacteria most people use deodorants, and to tackle the excessive underarm wetness, they apply antiperspirants. Deodorants contain germicides that kill the microbes and, as is the case with most of the brands, a synthetic perfume to mask the smell of the germicide.
Colon-related complaints include constipation, diarrhea, bloating, headaches, dizziness, nausea, sinusitis, eye and ear disorders, backaches, bad breath, body odor, sciatica, skin blemishes and diseases, abdominal gas, low energy, disorders of the nervous system, etc. A clean colon is a prerequisite for the balanced functioning of the rest of the body. Cleansing of the large intestine should, therefore, be part of every healing therapy. Keep Your Intestines Clean!
Many skin diseases, strong body odor, sweating of the palms and feet, water retention, lymph congestion, abdominal swelling, rapid weight gain, weakness, high blood pressure and other disorders, are all indications of toxic blood caused, to a large degree, by the presence of obstructive urinary deposits, such as sand crystals and stones, in the kidneys. Stones in the kidneys start off as tiny crystals and can eventually become as large as an egg. The tiny crystals are too small to be detected by x-rays, and since they do not cause pain, they are rarely noticed.
Deodorants and antiperspirants were invented because more and more people began to perspire excessively and develop body odor. It now appears to be the normal thing to do to give the underarms a spray in the morning and forget about this "smelly nuisance" for the rest of the day. But sweating is not a nuisance; it is the body's natural way of ridding itself of certain waste products and keeping itself cool. Like the bowels, liver, urinary system and lungs, our sweat glands are also meant to help keep the body clean. Why else would we have them?

Most people believe a lot of misinformation about body odor; they think the body just naturally stinks, and that body odor is just a result of bacteria growth in your armpits. This is utterly false. The body doesn't naturally stink. The body stinks because the foods you choose to eat also happen to be great promoters of unhealthy and unpleasant smelling bacteria in your armpits, on your skin, in your sweat glands and elsewhere. In other words, if your body is emitting non-toxic waste products, it's perspiring only excess minerals and normal healthy metabolic byproducts.

I first noticed this connection between foods and body odor during my early days of practice on the sugar plantation in Hawaii. Some of my patients were hippies unaccustomed to bathing. Their body odors smelled strongly of fruits and vegetables, bearing witness to the fact that these individuals consumed a largely vegetarian diet. How could I expect otherwise? Characteristic odors of foods are carried into our bodies on our forks and spoons, and, naturally, what goes in . . . lets say it together . . . must come out. Can't You Tell You Smell? Dr.
