Similarly, anxiety ranges from vague feelings of nervousness to panic attacks. Sometimes minor mood problems escalate to more serious ones, and it's usually easier to correct these problems while they remain relatively
167 minor. The chances of your physically hurting yourself or another person, or damaging your relationships, increase as your moods and behavior become more intense.
In these chapters, you'll notice that there is often overlap between moods. |
| These problems fall into several categories that include
Irritability, pissy moods, anger, and physical violence
anxiety, nervousness, tension, fear, and panic
Impulsive and distractible behavior
Mood swings associated with fatigue, mental fuzziness, blood sugar problems, and being overweight
Depression and down days
Alcohol and drug abuse
Each grouping encompasses many related mood and behavior issues, ranging from mild to severe. For example, feelings of resentment are related to stronger feelings of anger and violent behavior. |
| This may generate a little anxiety at first, but you will likely get better at it so that you mentally note but otherwise ignore the impulse.
Be mindful. To focus and improve your memory, you have to first pay attention. In today's world, this often means consciously ignoring potential distractions, such as trying to do too many things at once. Stick to doing what you have to do until you finish it. If it's a time-consuming project, you can give yourself a break after an hour or two and work on something else. That kind of work shifting may actually sharpen your concentration. |
| University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and her colleagues described the treatment of eleven children with behavioral disorders, including mood swings, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, oppositional disorder, bipolar disorder, and Asperger's syndrome. All of the children received a daily high-potency multivitamin/multi-mineral supplement. After just eight weeks, the children's behavior had gotten significantly better.
Taking a high-potency vitamin supplement is one of the best things we can do for our health, and it's sad that this simple act is so widely ignored or discouraged. |
| Muscle tenseness is a sign of stress and anxiety, and the body needs magnesium for muscle relaxation. Muscle spasms (charley horses) likely indicate inadequate magnesium levels. Many people consume too much calcium (from dairy foods and supplements) and not enough magnesium. Take 400 mg daily of magnesium citrate or magnesium citrate malate, with meals. If you develop loose stools, divide the dosage so that you take it twice daily, or reduce it slightly. Some people may also benefit from calcium supplements. |

Therapeutic Recommendation
All of these orthomolecular treatments may be extremely effective for the management of anxiety. Although none of them has been subjected to large controlled trials, this should not prevent their use as first-line treatments. The common side effects are minimal and serious side effects are extremely rare. These nutrients appear to have substantial therapeutic effects based on their known and theoretical mechanisms of action. |

For example, one genetic trait weakens a key enzyme that's involved in making serotonin and other neurotransmitters. Another genetic trait interferes with the transport of serotonin in the brain. Both of these genetic issues increase a person's risk of developing prolonged depression. As I'll explain later, though, supplements of certain neuronutrients can offset these weaknesses.

Supplemental Niacinamide circumvents the "favored" direction by increasing the amount of available NAD, thus facilitating the conversion of lactate to pyruvate

Prescribing Vitamin B-3 (Niacinamide)
Most patients require a minimum of 2000 to 4500 mg per day to achieve therapeutic results. These dosages were derived from the work of A. |
| She described a slight worsening of her anxiety and panic since stopping the twice-weekly injections. For the previous 2 weeks, the patient had experienced spells of nausea and hot flushes; however, she had not needed to leave work early as she did in the past. Another 1000 meg of hydroxocobalamin was administered IM, and she was instructed to return more regularly for the injections.
In a follow-up email on November 17, the patient reported the following: "I've been panic free since the weekend, which is nice. I haven't had hot flashes or heart beating fast in the morning either. |
| TREATING anxiety WITH B-VITAMINS, INOSITOL, AND ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS
The other members of the vitamin B family include thiamine (vitamin B-i), riboflavin (vitamin B-2), pantothenic acid (vitamin B-5), pyri-doxine (vitamin B-6), and folic acid. Only the B-vitamins with known anxiolytic effects will be discussed here. Inositol will be included in this discussion since it possesses biochemical properties similar to some of the B-vitamins and has documented anxiolytic effects. |

It should come as no surprise, then, to learn that the general level of anxiety in the U.S., as well as anxiety-related issues of mental health, has increased during that same period of time. Studies in 2002 indicated that as many as 35 percent of the individuals exposed to the trauma of 9/11 could be at risk for developing post-traumatic stress disorder.10 Five years later, that possibility became a reality when the high-school-aged children who initially experienced America's worst terrorist attack began showing an increased demand for anxiety-related treatment. |

Combination Supplement
The dose recommended for the combination mineral supplement is 3 tablets three times daily for the relief of anxiety symptoms.6
Selenium
Selenium might be more effective when prescribed at 200 meg per day. There should be no side effects when using a dose comparable to the one used in the study?
Therapeutic Recommendation
Unlike the vitamins, the benefits of minerals are more or less due to the correction of a deficiency state. |

Cohn and Wolfe's press packets, which were sent under Social anxiety Disorder Coalition letterhead, inflated the number of people afflicted with the condition, claiming that social anxiety "affects up to 13.3 percent of the population," or one in eight Americans, and is "the third most common psychiatric disorder in the United States, after depression and alcoholism." In reality, according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, no more than four million people are sufficiently impaired or distressed by their condition to warrant treatment. |

A common issue surrounding weight loss is anxiety about what happens later. Sometimes this anxiety begins the very day you begin the plan. You "bite the bullet" for a period of time and you see results but inside there is a doubtful voice that says, "you know that this can't last." You'll have to go back to "normal" at some point. Then what? Will you regain the weight? Will you "fall off the wagon?" Will you have to feel deprived forever? |

They're already feeling the anxiety, so they feel like something bad is going to happen -- the definition of anxiety is a feeling of forthcoming evil, some kind of destruction coming upon you. So they feel this horrible anxiety, and a lot of them have panic attacks. All of that is because of the sympathetic nervous system. In addition to that, the sympathetic nervous system affects your intestines, because your intestines digest with the parasympathetic nervous system running. |

Anxiety follows when we don't have enough money to pay for everything we think we need to be happy. Depression sets in because it is difficult to make ends meet and get out from under all the debt we have accumulated buying things we don't need. More anxiety ensues because we spend all our time working and don't have enough time to spend with our families or doing things that enhance the quality of our lives.
We drink, smoke, take drugs, overeat and watch TV to escape from the harsh realities of life. Those types of escape keep us sedentary, unhealthy, fat and out of shape. |

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, about six million American adults have panic disorder, which is characterized by episodes involving overwhelming fear or anxiety, rapid heartbeat and/or breathing, trembling, profuse sweating, and feeling like you are going to die. Panic attacks occur twice as often in women as in men and are often accompanied by other serious conditions, including depression. |

| Do you experience unexplained fatigue, depression, anxiety, insomnia, restlessness, nightmares, teeth grinding, "pins and needles" in your arms or legs, headaches, or sleep walking? If conventional treatments have failed, you might be suffering from geopathic stress (GS).
Did You Know?
It's estimated 85% of people with poor health are sleeping in an area affected by geopathic stress (GS).
Sleeping at night in an area that's geopathically stressed is especially dangerous since negative radiation is stronger at night and approximately one-third of your life is spent sleeping. |
