If the sun is so dangerous, then why is the vitamin generated by sunlight (vitamin D) so healthy for humans? Why would humans evolve a mechanism for generating a vitamin from sunlight if we weren't supposed to be exposed to sunlight in the first place?
7) If sunlight is so dangerous, then why is virtually every living creature on planet Earth dependent on sunlight for survival? Plants use sunlight to generate their nutrition, too, and most animals eat either plants or other animals that originally ate plants. Nearly all life on planet Earth is powered by sunlight. |

All citizens are advised to coat themselves with sunscreen every time they go out in the sun and avoid sun exposure until further notice.
Individuals caught seeking sunlight may be charged with not only possession, but trafficking of the vitamin D drug. DEA agents have been alerted and will be called in to arrest sunbathers. Sunscreen checkpoints will also be set up in public places where sunlight may occur, and any citizen who fails to test positive for the presence of sunscreen on their skin will be immediately arrested and charged with trafficking vitamin D. |

One brand I recommend is Caribbean Blue Natural Basics "Sun Shield." You can find more at www.gocaribbeanblue.com
Smearing berries on your skin also works as a natural sunscreen, as does smearing aloe vera gel on your skin. Amazon Herb Co. distributors use a product called Camu C Serum as a natural suncreen. It works great! http://www.amazondreams.amazonherb.net
The best sunscreen, however, is an internal sunscreen built with nutrition. |

They've been telling people sunlight causes cancer, and you must avoid the sun at all costs.
That’s all hogwash. As I've been saying on this site for quite some time, the human body was designed to live in harmony with sunlight. We evolved under natural sunlight, not under fluorescent lights with a lifetime supply of sunscreen on the shelf. We need sunlight in order to be healthy. I've covered this in dozens of other articles on this site. |

Ask yourself these seven commonsense questions:
1) Is the sun really dangerous to humans? If so, how did humans survive for the last 350,000 years on planet Earth?
2) Have the chemicals used in sunscreen products ever been safety tested or approved by the FDA? (The answer is no.)
3) Who financially benefits when you keep buying and using sunscreen products?
4) What is the environmental impact of sunscreen chemicals washing off into the ocean, a lake, a swimming pool or being washed down the drain in your shower?
5) Sunscreen manufacturers say the skin doesn't absorb their chemicals. |

In lieu of setting final standards, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advises people to stay out of the sun from 10 am to 4 pm. FDA now stands in direct violation a Congressional mandate requiring the agency to finalize sunscreen safety standards by May 2006, flouting not only Congress but also consumers, who are reliant on sunscreen to protect their health.
84% of sunscreen products harm consumers
As the EWG's research reveals, an incredible 84% of sunscreen products are harmful to consumers. |
| The analysis found that 84 percent of 785 sunscreen products with an SPF rating of 15 or higher offer inadequate protection from the sun's harmful rays, or contain ingredients with safety concerns. Ironically, some popular sunscreen chemicals break down when exposed to sunlight and must be formulated with stabilizing chemicals. Others penetrate the skin and present significant health concerns.
This ground-breaking research is based on nearly 400 peer-reviewed studies of the 17 sunscreen chemicals approved for use in the U.S. |
| The report and website rank products for combined safety and effectiveness, help consumers recognize bogus claims on sunscreen products, and provide tips for safety in the sun.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not finalized comprehensive sunscreen standards that have been in development for 29 years. When complete, these rules will standardize a rating system for UVA protection, and prohibit misleading and inaccurate claims such as "waterproof" and "lasts all day" that are commonly found on sunscreen products. |
| The new database lists products that offer the best combination of safety and effectiveness: they are formulated with the safest chemicals, are most effective at protecting against sunburn, and help prevent long-term damage caused by the sun's UVA rays, which are linked to skin aging, wrinkling and, potentially, cancer.

We all feel better and look healthier if we regularly spend time in the sun. We attempt to get as much sunlight as possible. Our bathing suits have become reduced to the very minimum as we are trying to immerse our bodies in the precious sunshine. However, not many people are aware of the sunlights liquefied form, chlorophyll.

Chlorophyll is as important as sunlight! No life is possible without sunshine and no life is possible without chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is liquefied sun energy. Consuming as much chlorophyll as possible is exactly like bathing our inner organs in sunshine. |

Without the sun, there is no life, right?
Mike: That's right.
Pederson: What we've done though, is we've harnessed these LEDs in a way that allows you to get the sunlight without actually needing to go to the sun. If you can't go to the sunlight, we bring the sunlight to you.
Mike: I'd like you to talk about this interesting lens here a minute, but first your comment about sunlight -- yes, people are recognizing now that some sunlight is very beneficial for the formation of vitamin D.

If the American Cancer Society declared that sunlight caused cancer and that the citizens should avoid sunlight and cover their skin with toxic chemical creams to block out the sun, the press would gladly run with that story, too. Come to think of it, they already have: That's the story on sunscreen, and just about everything you read in the mainstream media about sunlight and sunscreen is blatantly false.
There are so many falsehoods routinely printed in the mainstream media these days that it has become a rarity to find any piece of truth. |

In fact, that's what I make very clear in the book, is, go out for the 5-10 minutes, be exposed to sensible sun exposure, then put a sunscreen on with the proper SPF. And I even teach you in the book how much sunscreen to use to make sure that you're getting the full sun protection that's stated on the bottle. |

Our ancestors did not have indoor lighting; they exposed their skin to the sun regularly. They didn't run and hide from the sun, they used it as nourishment to generate a crucial vitamin that supports human health in a multitude of ways. The idea that "the sun is bad for you" makes about as much sense as "water is bad for you" or "the Earth is flat." This persistent myth was invented, marketed and publicized by an industry that profits from a gullible public believing demonstrable falsehoods.
But why would the cancer industry go along with the deception, you might ask? |

UVB light is the primary culprit responsible for the sun's burning rays, but both UVA and UVB light increase free-radical production in the skin and thus oxidative stress in the skin. When you apply your favorite sunscreen, which contains an SPF rating of thirty or greater, you are protecting yourself primarily against UVB light. This allows us to stay out in the sun longer because we are not getting sunburned. But these sunscreens do not offer much, if any, protection against UVA light, which creates significantly more free radicals deeper into the skin. |

The FDA is also petitioning NASA to launch a mission to actually destroy the sun, thereby protecting humans from the dangers of ultraviolet radiation. All that is necessary for mainstream support of this agenda is for President Bush to declare the sun to be a terrorist in possession of nuclear weapons. "The sun is dangerous," the FDA said in a recent press release. "Just looking at it can make you go blind. What more proof do you need? |

But these sunscreens do not offer much, if any, protection against UVA light, which creates significantly more free radicals deeper into the skin. This may in part explain why we have seen a fivefold increase in almost every skin cancer over the past twenty years.
We are finally seeing sunscreens on the market that offer protection against both UVA and UVB sunlight. |

The researchers were trying to find out if exposure to the sun really does cause this type of cancer; instead, they found that it actually protects people from the disease.
Why is this the case? Being exposed to natural sunlight results in the creation of vitamin D in your body, and vitamin D is extremely important in protecting you against bone loss, osteoporosis, schizophrenia, cancer (especially of the prostate and breast), and many other chronic diseases. In fact, the vast majority of people living in modern societies worldwide don't get enough natural sunlight on their skin. |
| As a result, they need 20 to 30 times as much sun exposure to generate the same amount of vitamin D as a white-skinned person.
Once again, think about it: Where did people who have darker skin come from? They came from regions near the equator of the planet. What's near the equator of the planet? The answer is that there's more intense sunlight there. This high-intensity sunlight motivated a skin color adaptation in humans. |

They're already being advised to tell people to get more sunlight and not to wear sunscreen every time they go outside, at least not for the first few minutes of sun exposure. So the UK is well ahead of the U.S. in this thinking. The U.S. seems to be the last country in the world to acknowledge any healing benefits of therapies outside of drugs, surgery and radiation. It seems to take forever for U.S. doctors to come around to the idea nature has some wisdom when it comes to healing. |

The sunscreen manufacturers, I think they're happy to go along with the idea that sun should be avoided. What's been your experience?
Dr. Holick: Yeah, I think that there's no question that the American Academy of Dermatology is well-funded by the sunscreen industry, and I'm sure that that plays a role in this.
Adams: There's influence, or lobbying, or what?
Dr. Holick: Well, back in April, just before my book was launched, I think the "Safe Skin Association" actually put out a paid news release attacking me and the book, even before it was launched. |

While we all actually need to get out in the sun to produce vitamin D and remain healthy, we don't need too much at one time as this can be harmful. Indeed while sunscreen does appear to prevent sunburn, it does not seem to prevent the skin cancer known as melanoma. Due to the fact that it encourages people to stay out longer in the sun, it might even increase the risk of melanoma. The best way forward is to limit sun exposure until your system adjusts by increasing melanin pigmentation in the skin. Also, taking antioxidants increases skin protection against sun-induced radiation damage. |

If you're not used to getting lots of sun on your skin, then you have to use some common sense. You should limit your exposure until you build up some skin pigmentation (a tan) to help you resist the DNA damage caused by excessive ultraviolet exposure. But most people are doing far more damage to themselves by avoiding all exposure, than by any overexposure.
People need some sunlight on their skin, and finally we're starting to see some of the research come out on this. There are now a number of proponents of this theory. |
