Those are known as the spleen meridian points, spleen 6, spleen 8, and spleen 10. But this isn't a self-treatment issue. You do need to see a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner in order to have these points treated correctly with acupressure or acupuncture.
In terms of the nutritional therapies for menstrual disorders, it is essentially the same as for many other disorders, which is to avoid processed foods that strip your body of vitamins and minerals and consume more of a plant-based diet, high in superfoods, and supplement with high-density nutritional supplements on a regular basis. |

Spleen
The spleen is the largest mass of lymphatic tissue in the body and acts as a powerful blood waste filter. It is an organ about the size of a person's fist, and is located in the upper part of the abdominal cavity, just under the rib cage on the left side. It produces lymphocytes (white blood cells), destroys defective red blood cells, and serves as a blood reservoir. It recycles whatever molecules our bodies need to retain and reuse. During times of great stress or hemorrhage, the spleen can release stored blood to prevent shock. |

Spleen" is a misnomer of early translators; when the term "spleen-pancreas" is used, it refers solely to the pancreas and its constellation of activities in both Oriental and modem physiology. The hyphenation of "spleen" to "pancreas" is used here for the sake of continuity with the many texts that have retained the term "spleen" from the first translations.
The blood-storage function of the spleen of modern physiology is part of the liver function of Chinese medicine; thus the spleen can be thought of as a separate lobe of the liver. |

Darren was given an acupuncture treatment with emphasis on points along his back to strengthen his spleen, stomach, and liver functions, as well as points on the back of his neck to ease the muscle tension. On his front side, points along the spleen, stomach, and pericardium meridians, as well as a combination of liver and large intestine points, were used to release stress and mental tension. He relaxed completely during the treatment, even dozing at times. |

In fact, originally this Driver field was called Thymus Driver, but in early 2007 Peter's research revealed its strong correlations to the spleen and omentum, so this Driver Infoceutical was reformulated, the Driver field renamed, and its bioenergetic correlations expanded on.
The spleen organ has three functions: elimination of older red blood cells, blood regulation, and most important, the production of lymphocytes and plasma cells, which make antibodies. |
| In TCM, there is an energy and information link between the spleen and the lungs, but NES research extends the spleen's links to include the thymus, an immune system organ that is located in the midchest region. From a bioenergetic perspective, long-term immunity against viral threats depends on the thymus, which also appears to have an important bioenergetic role in addressing allergies. |

The officials of the earth element are the stomach and spleen. The stomach is the official of "granaries" or of "rotting and ripening," and can also be referred to as "the sea of nutrients." The stomach receives nourishment from the outside and puts it into a form that can be assimilated. We are always digesting our experiences in life, and they won't nourish us if this official is not in a balanced state. The spleen is the "official of transport" that distributes nourishment throughout the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels in our beings. |

Vitamins B6 and B5 stimulate the immune system,- a vitamin B6 deficiency is associated with depletion of white blood cells in the thymus, spleen and lymph nodes and lowered antibody production. Combinations of various vitamins with omega 3 and omega 6 oils regulate inflammatory reactions in the body.
Vitamins A and D also improve the digestive system, stimulate bowel function and help rid the body of any build-up of toxic matter. These vitamins are easily absorbed in the form of cod liver oil. |

These range from bee pollen to gold to animal extracts from thymus, spleen, and placenta, as well as plant extracts that can be potential skin irritants, and I point out as many of these as I can in my reviews. If there is no research showing any of these are helpful for skin, then they are there for marketing purposes only, and that doesn't help your skin. Those ingredients are explained in Chapter Seven, Cosmetic Ingredient Dictionary, of this book. |

Now it appears that the spleen can make the same kind of comeback, at least in children. Adults who must have their spleens removed rarely miss them, but children become more susceptible to meningitis. A few years ago, medical researchers noted that children whose excised spleens had been damaged by accident were less likely to get meningitis than those whose spleens had been removed because of disease. |

When I've recommended spleen glandular, it's usually for people who need immune-system support, especially if they have had their spleen removed. According to naturopathic physician Michael Murray, the spleen produces two immune-enhancing compounds known as tuftsin and splenopentin. Since these compounds are important to the vital functioning of the immune system, Murray says, "Spleen extracts should probably be viewed as a necessary medicine for people who have undergone a splenectomy. |

There are two types of immunity: innate and adaptive. Innate immunity is present at birth and forms the first line of defense against microorganisms. For example, your skin, mucus secretions, and acidity in your stomach act as barriers to keep unwanted germs away from more vulnerable tissues. |

Enhancers and Inhibitors of Iron Absorption
The iron absorbed from a meal can vary ten-fold depending on the need for iron and the enhancers and inhibitors of iron present in the meal. Adequate stomach acid is important for iron absorption. Iron is found in food in two types: Heme iron and non-heme iron.
HEME IRON
Heme iron is found only in meat, poultry, and fish. |

While they come from the bone marrow, like most of what gets into the blood, these natural killer cells circulate through other parts of the immune system—those soft places doctors feel for signs of a bulge or a lump, our tonsils, lymph nodes, and spleen. Once they exist, these cells go into standby mode. They are spontaneously "on," like the body's own Pac-man defense system, ready to detect and attack abnormal cells whenever and wherever they find them. |

Kidneys
The kidneys are bean-shaped organs about 4 inches long, 2 inches wide, and 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick, located against the back wall of the abdomen at the lower rib cage portion. The body usually has two kidneys; their function is to maintain the pH balance of the blood in the body. After blood has circulated through the liver and heart, it then enters the kidneys for purification. |
| Lymph nodes, tonsils, bone marrow, spleen, liver, pancreas, lungs, and the intestines are also part of the immune system. As part of an immune response, white blood cells are mobilized and deployed to areas of the body requiring their assistance. Lymph nodes, which contain filters, swell because the lymphatic vessels drain infection by carrying it to the nearest area where an immune response can be organized. The lymph nodes most commonly recognized are in the neck and groin areas.
Our bodies possess two kinds of immunity. |

When my then eleven-year-old daughter was given a CT scan of her abdomen to see if she had a ruptured spleen, I was just like most parents with a child in the emergency room. All I wanted to know was that she would be okay. But when I asked the young woman radiologist if there was a way to shield my daughter's chest, she looked at me skeptically and asked, "Why? She doesn't have any breasts." I explained to her that we know that radiation exposure to the chests of girls before puberty increases the chances that breast cancer will develop later on. |

For example, Source Driver matches to the reticuloendothelial system, a part of your immune system that produces cells that tend to aggregate in your lymph nodes, spleen, and reticular connective tissue. Generally, these are cells, such as monocytes and macrophages, that defend against invader organisms and microbes. In particular, Source Driver links particularly strongly to megakaryoctyes, a type of large cell made in the red bone marrow that produces blood platelets. |
