There is a nutritional reason behind that. The "pioneer diet" or "cowboy diet" is not one that maximizes brain nutrition for infants or adults. And when expectant mothers are deficient in brain-supporting nutrients, guess what happens to the IQs of their children?
Three reasons to avoid red meat
This brings me to the third reason why I don't eat meat from mammals, by the way. The first reason is because excessive red meat consumption is bad for your health. The second reason is because it's inhumane to kill mammals for their meat. |

But there's a third reason, and I think this third reason is probably the more common reason. The third reason is that people understand the information and they want to change -- they want to stop eating cheeseburgers or chocolate candy bars or drinking soft drinks -- but they feel that they are unable to. They feel like they cannot break that pattern of behavior in their life. And I suspect that for you, reading this, this maybe the more familiar reason. We all have varying degrees of success in actually being able to break our old patterns and establish new patterns. |

Thus, food manufacturers insist on using sodium nitrite for the simple reason that it sells more meat products. Consumers are strongly influenced by the color of grocery products (which is why Florida oranges are often dipped in red dye, by the way), and when meat products look fresh, people will buy them, even if the true color of the months-old meat is putrid gray.
There is a way to minimize the damage from sodium nitrite, by the way. You won't hear this from the USDA these days, since the department doesn't really want to discuss sodium nitrite at all. |
| The second (and more important) reason processed meats are so strongly correlated with cancer is, I believe, the continued use of a cancer-promoting additive called sodium nitrite.
This ingredient, which sounds harmless, is actually highly carcinogenic once it enters the human digestive system. There, it forms a variety of nitrosamine compounds that enter the bloodstream and wreak havoc with a number of internal organs: the liver and pancreas in particular. |

The second reason may be that they don't consider their health to be important. They don't consider their body to be sacred. They have a fatalistic disconnect with their body -- almost as if they believe their mind lives in some other universe from their body. You could say they have no respect for their body, because obviously they are fully aware of the damage caused to it by these products, yet they continue to consume them.
But there's a third reason, and I think this third reason is probably the more common reason. |

The reason you hear about attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) all the time is not because it's a legitimate physiological disorder (it isn't). The reason you hear about it is because it's very profitable to treat. There are lots of drugs to sell to children for this disease or condition.
Similarly, the reason you have heard so much propaganda about hormone-replacement therapy over the past 20 years is not because women actually need synthetic hormones, the reason is the incredible profitability of HRT drugs. |

The first reason is because excessive red meat consumption is bad for your health. The second reason is because it's inhumane to kill mammals for their meat. And the third reason is because I would never want to be associated with the kind of people who live on steak and animal products as primary food sources -- those cigarette smoking, steak eating, pro-war, wife beating alcoholic numnuts who think global warming is a hoax and that that the whole world would be better off if we all just ate more beef and drank more milk. (That association has a strong basis in fact, by the way. |

We take syllables out of words for no reason. "Mayonnaise" becomes "Mannaise" for no apparent reason. We also struggle with the word, "mischievous," to which we attach an extra syllable, incorrectly turning it into, "mis-chee-vee-us." Tricky, eh? We learned that from you guys.
Especially. One way to really stand out in a crowd and announce that you're an idiot is to add an "X" to the front of this word. If you say, "EXspecially," then you may want to be aware that any such utterance automatically subtracts 50 points from your I.Q. Drop the "X" and just say the letters that are really there. |

In women, estrogen dominance causes fat to be stored around the waist, hips, and thighs, and it's the main reason that many middle-age women have pear-shaped bodies. Estrogen dominance is also the reason for the middle-age spare tire in men. effects on the thyroid gland
The thyroid gland is best known for its metabolic function affecting weight. Estrogen dominance renders the thyroid hormones dysfunctional, causing your body's metabolism to slow down. The resulting condition is called relative hypothyroidism. |

A person may complain of pain that has no apparent reason for being there or, if the sharp object has been there for a long time, there may be chronic pain that never goes away, no matter what the person does. Cliches may make you roll your eyes but there is a reason they have become commonplace in our language. Have you ever felt like you were "stabbed in the back" by a close friend? The saying originates from the fact that a dagger of sorts has been directed with negative intent. |

This is also a good reason to go with the higher-quality pomegranate juices mentioned here rather than low-quality juice blends made with apple juice or grape juice (both of which are high on the glycemic index scale). Pure pomegranate juice is far better for your blood sugar than a blend of apple juice or grape juice.
More details on the plastics question
There is increasing concern today about the health effects of eating foods or drinking liquids packaged in plastic. Since most pomegranate juices are packaged in plastic bottles, this is a reasonable concern. |

The only reason I can get away with telling you all this, by the way, is because I sell no nutritional produts. If I did, the FDA would have long since raided my home at gunpoint and forced me into self censorship. The reason I can still practice Free Speech and tell you the raw truth is because I do it all volunteer and have no financial interest in any food or nutritional products whatsoever.
Kinda neat, that Free Speech thing. Remember to thank the founders for that First Amendment. Use it or lose it. |

This is part of the reason I continue to refrain from the entering the supplement business: Because it's far more important for me to remain independent and uncensored so that I may continue reporting the truth about how the FDA and Big Pharma are collectively operating as either corporate criminals or domestic terrorist organizations, depending on how much you believe about the real reasons of why they do the things they do.
When will medical tyranny finally be stopped in this "free" country? When will free speech finally become a reality for nutritional supplement manufacturers? |

Another reason is that it's been deliberately withheld from us.
Mike: Oh, that last reason is a big factor. It goes back to guys like Dr. Weston Price, the dentist, back in the 1930s. He put the pieces together back then and was routinely ignored for decades. Not just ignored, but ridiculed and ostracized by conventional medicine, which said, "food has nothing to do with health."
Wolfe: You know what's so interesting about that? They say, "Food has nothing to do with health -- but here, eat these pills." It's still a food of some sort. We cannot get away from this whole food thing. |

It stands to reason that the more toxins there are in the environment, the more plants you should be eating.)
Animals can synthesize some of their own antioxidants, including, once upon a time, vitamin C. But there was so much vitamin C in our ancestors' plant-rich diet that over time we lost our ability to make the compound ourselves, perhaps because natural selection tends to dispense with anything superfluous that is metabolically expensive to produce. |

And one reason it boggles the mind is because the women used in this study who were suffering from osteoporosis were, in fact, already taking antidepressant drugs!
Okay, so get this: The researchers somehow believe that taking antidepressants can reverse osteoporosis even while their own research shows that the women suffering from the worst bone loss were already taking antidepressants!
Geesh. Sometimes I have to just sit back and shake my head in amazement when I observe the idiocy in modern medical research. |

Don't breastfeed your babies! Use infant formula instead. It's more "high-tech." Cow's milk is obviously healthier for your babies than mother's milk, right? That's what the doc says... Challenging the status quo
This is precisely what makes Ron Paul the exception: He's willing to shake up the establishment and end the FDA's campaign of tyranny and oppression against the American people. At the same time, he's looking to dismantle the IRS, restore honesty to the U.S. money supply (requiring that the currency be backed by gold) and end our illegal war on Iraq and Afghanistan. |

For this reason, I always use buffered vitamin C.
Mike: What is the source for it?
Dr. Liers: Vitamin C actually is extracted and produced from corn, from potatoes -- some people say sago palm, but there are probably not enough sago palms in the world for all those people who make those claims -- beets are another one. So mostly, it is potatoes, beets, and corn and at different times of the year, it is made differently. A fermentation process goes on. It is crystallized and recrystallized so that the material we use is pharmaceutical grade vitamin C.
To start with, it is 99. |

You could tell her it's just yogurt in a squirtable form, yet if she read the ingredients label she would have every reason to doubt that that was in fact the case. Sure, there's some yogurt in there, but there are also a dozen other things that aren't remotely yogurtlike, ingredients she would probably fail to recognize as foods of any kind, including high-fructose corn syrup, modified corn starch, kosher gelatin, carrageenan, tri-calcium phosphate, natural and artificial flavors, vitamins, and so forth. |
| After taking two days of testimony on diet and killer diseases, the committee's staff—comprised not of scientists or doctors but of lawyers and (ahem) journalists—set to work preparing what it had every reason to assume would be an uncontroversial document called Dietary Goals for the United States. The committee learned that while rates of coronary heart disease had soared in America since World War II, certain other cultures that consumed traditional diets based mostly on plants had strikingly low rates of chronic diseases. |

Although this feels quite nice, the formulation lacks worthwhile amounts of antioxidants, skin-identical ingredients, and anti-irritants, and there is little reason to consider this a special formulation for the eye area. We have grape seed extract in there. The reason is that grape seed extract is one of the best collagen cross-linkers known. You get weakened blood vessels when you get glycation of the proteins because you have high blood sugar all the time. If you can cross-link those proteins and collagen, you are going to prevent the blood vessels from just deteriorating. That is some of the design logic that goes into a product like Diabetes Defense.

While you can set a video recording auto-stop timing function for, say, two hours, the Archos unit sometimes just stops recording before the two hour time limit for no reason at all, forcing you to start over or just flat out miss whatever you were trying to record. Its built-in FAT32 file system also limits video files to 2GB, meaning it has to split larger videos into multiple files. This also means that if you're trying to use the Archos 705 as a portable video player, you can't copy any file to it that's larger than 2GB!
That's absurd. |
