In a treatment called chelation therapy, the practitioner employs a chemical that's normally used to bind heavy metals (like mercury and lead) to treat people poisoned by these metals. Some doctors have the idea that unexplained fatigue and chemical sensitivity are due to heavy metal toxicity. While exposure to heavy metals can cause many symptoms, there is no good evidence that heavy metals have any role at all in CFS, fibromyalgia (FM), multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS), or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). |

These include nickel, which is used in gold crowns, braces, and children's crowns, and chromium. All metals corrode (including gold, silver, and platinum), and the body absorbs them. Women with breast cancer have often accumulated large amounts of dissolved metals in their breasts. Once the mouth is cleared of all metals, they will also leave the breasts. Likewise, most cysts will shrink and disappear by themselves.
The body's immune system naturally responds to the presence of toxic metals in the body and, eventually, develops allergic reactions. |

Alone, each of these has the ability to bind with heavy metals, and together they make a very powerful metal detoxification substance that can literally pull mercury, lead, cadmium, and other heavy metals right out of your body, thereby sparing your body the damage that would normally be caused by those heavy metals. This is potentially a life-saving product, and it can certainly save the health of a fetus, if you happen to be pregnant or you plan to have a pregnancy in the near future.

These metals tend to deposit themselves in brain tissue because of the high amount of fat concentrated in that part of the body.18 These metals can cause a significant increased amount of oxidative stress and are extremely difficult to remove from the central nervous system once they are there. Antioxidants that not only are potent but have the ability to help remove these toxic heavy metals will become increasingly important in the prevention and treatment of these diseases. |

FDA scientists warned that GM crops may concentrate toxins, such as heavy metals and herbicides, from the environment.
2. There is evidence of heavy metals in GM soybean oil.
3. FDA scientists also said that toxins in GM feed might concentrate in milk or meat.
4. GM DNA fragments were found in milk.
5. While very little research has been done on this, small amounts of Roundup may be retained in the body of animals and affect sperm quality.

The overuse of Roundup and Liberty herbicides on GM crops magnifies these types of risks. |

These metals tend to persist and accumulate in the environment (and in our bodies!), for they cannot be degraded or destroyed. Today heavy metals are extensively used as components of countless consumer products, though the consumer is generally unaware of their presence in the seemingly harmless product. They are widely used in all forms of industry, agriculture, food processing, cosmetics, personal care products, household products, and so on. Most of us are familiar with what happens when we want a newer, faster computer or digital device that's been outdated by new technology. |
| Galvanism with other metals in the mouth, such as gold or bridgework, can accelerate this process. Galvanism is a process by which a "battery" effect is created in the mouth when different kinds of metals come in contact with each other and saliva. This produces an electrical current that flows though the body and breaks down the amalgam, releasing higher levels of mercury vapor, and in some cases causing headaches, pain, and tremors. Dental bleaching can make this situation worse because bleaching agents can further increase the release of mercury from those fillings over time. |

Effect of Pollution
Toxic metals, such as aluminum, lead, cadmium, and tin, are widely distributed in the environment. Animal studies have shown that each of these metals can cause osteoporosis. It is possible that the increased incidence of osteoporosis over the past 40 years is due in part to the proliferation of toxins in our environment.
Some simple steps can be taken to reduce your exposure to toxic metals. Drinking bottled water eliminates one of the major sources of aluminum and lead—the municipal water supply. |

He took the word from metallurgy, but it was, in fact, somewhat misapplied since in the world of engineering "stress" referred to the forces that act to deform or weaken metals; it did not refer to the resulting condition of the metals themselves.21 By this time, too, Selye had further conceptualized the stress response as a nonspecific response of the body to any demand—what he called a "General Adaptation Syndrome." Drawing explicitly on Cannon's earlier work, Selye proposed that the response unfolded in three stages. |

Harmful metals and Chemicals
Conventional dental amalgams or "silver" fillings are actually made of tin, copper, silver, nickel, zinc, and the toxic metal mercury. These fillings disintegrate over time, and in some instances, have been shown to release these metals into the body, affecting the bones and the central nervous system and brain. Evidence now shows that mercury amalgam fillings are the major source of mercury exposure for the general public, at rates six times higher than those found in fish and seafood.9 One of the symptoms of mercury toxicity is disturbed sleep. |

| Removing metals from the body is another important step. The body accumulates metals and the nerves in the lower extremities begin to degenerate as the levels of metals in the body rise. For example, the longer one is exposed to lead, the more it accumulates in the body, and the more the nerves in the lower body respond by degenerating. Even mercury fillings in our teeth are problematic. The good news is that metals can be removed from the body by the removal of mercury fillings and by undergoing chelation therapy. |

Thus, we can only conclude that heavy metals can accumulate in GM soy oil. As the paper states, little attention has been given to "whether the accumulation pattern and levels of heavy metals could change after the insertion of foreign genes."58 The scientists at the FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) also concluded that there is "ample scientific justification" to require testing and review of each GM food before approval. Their concern, according to CVM's director, was that "residues of plant constituents or toxicants in meat and milk products may pose human food safety concerns. |

Nickel
Nickel is worthy of special mention because, although it is one of the most durable metals, it is also one of the most carcinogenic metals in the world. Yet it is often used as a main component, over 70%, in making crowns, bridges, braces, and partial dentures. Information has been available in scientific literature for many years regarding studies that have demonstrated how cancer and birth defects can develop in animals when they are exposed to nickel. Dr. Huggins points out that dentists often call the nickel alloy used in dentistry stainless steel, as it sounds better. |

Hermes was the master of the ancient mysteries of initiation, and represented that coming-down of divine wisdom into the world which is represented also in the incarnations of divine saviors (see infra, pp. 349-354). Selenium also helps antagonize the effects of a number of toxic metals. Some of these toxic metals, like cadmium, are found in cigarette smoke and other places, and are carcinogenic. Others, like mercury, are just plain bad news. Selenium seems to bind with some of these bad guys, creating inactive complexes and helping to rid the system of them.

| BACKGROUND
Dental amalgam contains elemental mercury combined with other metals such as silver, copper, tin and zinc. The fillings, which are approximately 50% mercury, have been used for generations to stabilize decaying teeth. Dental experts contend that when mercury is bound to the other metals it is encapsulated and does not pose a health risk.
Consumer groups, however, contend that mercury, a known neurotoxin, leaks out from the amalgam in the form of mercury vapor and then gets into the bloodstream.
According to the American Dental Association (ADA), the use of amalgam is declining. |

If your cavities are filled with several different metals (as many of them are a combination of mercury, silver, and others), it's like having a mini battery in your mouth. The mixed metals create a chemical or electrical reaction that produces a metallic taste, or even a shock. The tinny taste can also signal dry mouth or that you're on an excessively high-protein, low-fat diet. (See Bad Breath, below. |
