Chances are they may be sensitive to these foods, such that their sensitivity can manifest itself as fatigue and mental states tied to fatigue, such as irritability or frustration."
Depression is often a reaction to fatigue. "People think they're getting old or sick, or that they're dying, because they don't have the energy they once had," Dr. Spreen says. "And depression causes a domino effect. Once people are depressed, they don't care to do anything. If they don't do anything, their self-worth decreases. They feel worse and worse.
"We try to take a complete approach. |

They had much greater mental health, too.
Today we live in a nation where people are mentally unstable. We've got kids picking up automatic weapons in schools and blowing away their classmates, and then it turns out they were taking antidepressant drugs. You know, that whole thing probably could have been prevented if those kids were fed some molasses, nuts, fish oils and omega-3 supplements, and taken off of the antidepressant drugs. And all you'd have to do is put those healing ingredients into the school lunches. |

To boost mental function, I use ginkgo biloba, probably the number-two herb after ginseng," Dr. Spreen says. "We'll give a trial of that to people who say they don't remember things the way they used to, and to children with learning disorders. We'll try the herb for about 6 weeks. If the person doesn't feel a noticeable difference in that time, it probably doesn't work for them. The nice thing about this type of remedy is that it's harmless. If it doesn't work, you've only lost a few dollars; it hasn't done any harm. |
| For many years, the experts on my radio show and I have been protesting the huge and still increasing numbers people taking drugs to treat mental disorders. According to IMS Health, a heath-care information company, the number of prescriptions for antidepressants reached nearly 230 million in 2006, making them the number one type of medication in the US. That number is up from 197 million in 2002. Then there's the case of Ritalin, the stimulant used for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). In the last decade of the twentieth century alone, Ritalin production increased seven-fold. |

Even the pharmaceutical companies that manufacture the mind-altering drugs at least have the integrity to qualify the way or method in which the companies' drugs allegedly work in the treatment of the alleged mental illness by adding the caveats "may," "thought" "believes" and "suggests." Furthermore, with the FDA's 2004 review of antidepressant clinical trial data showing that the sugar pill (placebo) was as effective as the antidepressant "treatment" in a majority of the drugs reviewed, the jury still is out on whether the mind-altering drugs "treat" anything. |
| Throughout "mental health" psychiatrists and other physicians as well, use the term "chemical imbalance" to mean "disorder" / "disease" / "sickness" / "illness" when there is never an abnormality on any kind of examination or test. Such is the total 100% fraud of psychiatry's "chemical imbalances"— psychiatry's way of making patients of normals."

| Interestingly enough, after I wrote an article about the Interim Report in the May 21, 2001, edition of Insight on the News magazine acknowledging that the federal agency failed to mention the possibility of psychiatric drug use by the shooters, in May 2002, nearly two years after the release of the Interim Report, a "Final Report" was released, which was identical to the Interim Report except for a new section about the shooters' mental health status. |
| Only further testing will answer such an important question, but one has to wonder how many physicians even are aware of these important studies, and also how many parents are routinely advised about the studies when methylphenidate is recommended as treatment for the alleged mental disorder. |
| Worse yet, the top bananas in law enforcement, education and mental health have conducted extensive investigations into the school shooting phenomena and the single item conspicuously missing from these reports is the use of psychiatric drugs.
For example, in October 2000 the U.S. Secret Service, in collaboration with the U.S. |
| This is an especially interesting "Public Health Advisory" because the alleged mental illness, ADHD, is not associated with suicidal thoughts (recall the long list of symptoms at the beginning of the chapter) so one might rightly conclude that the "increased risk" is caused by Strattera. In fact, the FDA determined that one of the points that needed to be included in the "black box" warning: "Strattera increases the risk of suicidal thinking in children and adolescents with ADHD."
But Lilly's "increased risk of suicide" isn't the first trip to the FDA woodshed for Strattera. |

According to the study results as reported in a Los Angeles Times article, for every tenfold rise in DDT exposure, the children's scores on mental tests dropped 2 to 3 points. Their motor skills were also reduced. In the worst cases, the highest DDT doses were associated with a 7- to 10-point drop in the mental scores of 24-month-old children compared with those who were not exposed.
Making these declines in intelligence more notable is that the average score in the study was only 86. Yet scores below 85 are strongly linked with developmental delays and learning disabilities. |

Let's talk about mental health and Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Dr. Holick: Principally, Seasonal Affective Disorder is due to the fact that people who live in northern climates can't easily regulate the production of melatonin by the pineal gland. And melatonin is a hormone that causes you to fall asleep basically, or to hibernate. And so for many people that live in northern latitudes, the sun's rays are not intense enough and long enough in exposure time to regulate melatonin levels. |

But if you eat processed foods and manufactured foods, as are generally consumed by most Americans, then of course you're going to be depressed, because you're not giving your brain the nutrients it needs to achieve a healthy mental state.
So it is in fact the food supply that is causing depression in this country. It's all the refined ingredients that have their nutrition stripped away. That's what's causing depression, but what do we do in this country to treat depression? |
| Because truly, the health outcome you experience in everyday life at both the mental and physical level is determined almost entirely by the foods you eat.
Presently, the United States of America is home to the most chronically diseased population ever observed in the history of civilization, and it's no coincidence that we also eat the most processed foods, the most fast foods, the highest levels of sugar, salt and food additives than any other country in the world. |
| It's time to get back to the foods that can enhance quality of life and that can create healthy mental statesin our population.
It's time to use the natural resources nature has provided in order to turn around the health of our population and restore some sanity in this country, because having only a 50% sanity rate is not enough. If you're in a democracy, you need at least 51% of the people to be able to think straight if you want to have any future whatsoever for the country. |
| We know that eating nuts and molasses and getting good nutrition greatly affects mental health. And we know that most of those who are depressed in this country are only depressed because of a lack of nutrition, whether it's through a lack of nutritionally balanced food, or a lack of what I call vibrational nutrition, which is natural sunlight. In fact, virtually every common disease today can be treated if not entirely prevented through foods and lifestyle changes. |

Are we going to require the mental health screening of all elderly people, and start dosing everyone over the age of 65 with brain altering drugs too?
There seems to be no limit to how far the highly corrupt psychiatry community and prescription drug companies will carry this to exert control over the population and generate obscene profits. And the truth is that anyone can be diagnosed with a mental disorder given sufficient creativity on the part of the psychiatrists. If a person is too creative and excited, they have Attention Deficit Disorder. |

As we realize the profound connection between thoughts, emotions, body chemistry -and, therefore, disease — it becomes clear that people need a holistic system of health maintenance that not only provides the proper corrective and restorative medicines, but also addresses the mental and emotional stress that underlies and precipitates weakness in the body. Yoga is an effective tool because it addresses the various aspects of a person, not just their body, but their mind, emotions, and spirit. |

We have now a quarter of our nation -- depending on who you ask -- of Americans suffering from mental disorders. With all the discussion about mental health and mental disorders, there's no discussion whatsoever about the true causes of it. There's all this talk about treating everybody and how we should get everybody into "treatment," which means jobs. I say that mental disorders are not caused by a lack of drugs, so why would you think that adding drugs to someone's brain would eliminate these disorders? What are they really caused by? Well, they are caused by nutritional problems. |

| Dr. Breggin says, "It was inevitable that these losses would occur. The basal ganglia, which are afflicted in tardive dyskinesia, are richly interconnected with the higher centers of the brain, so that their dysfunction almost inevitably leads to disturbances in cognitive processes. A multitude of studies have confirmed that long-term use is associated with both deterioration and atrophy of the brain. Growing evidence indicates that these drugs produce tardive psychoses that are irreversible and more severe than the patients' prior problems."

Our first pilot study included eight severely ill acute cases, two under my care and six under Dr Osmond's care at a mental hospital. All had not responded to previous treatment. All recovered on these vitamins. I am still surprised. Perhaps in 1952 schizophrenics were not as badly damaged by high-tech nutrition as they are today. |
| The benefits of proper yoga practice fall in the categories of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health. From the traditional Vedic perspective, from which yogic practices have grown, these aspects of health are inextricably linked.
The word 'Yoga' evokes many images, ranging from the Hindu ascetic lying on a bed of nails to the lean, muscular Westerner twisted in complex acrobatic positions requiring strength, flexibility, and agility. The focus of most Western practitioners has been on the breath exercises (pranayama) and the physical postures (asanas) of the yogic tradition. |

Yoga practice was shown to retard coronary atherosclerosis and cause lesion regression, and decrease need for angioplasty and bypass surgery. |

Soon, mandatory mental health screening programs will sweep across America, and anyone who displays independent thinking, creative ideas or even the slightest hint of stress might be carted off to a mental institution where they will be forced to undergo brain chemistry "rebalancing" at the whim of a psychiatrist who earns a commission on every pill he forces you to swallow.
