You might set up an online group to share information; several portals like Yahoo, Google and msn have "group" services that take just a few minutes to set up. Having a group like "GeorgeGoringHealing?yahoogroups.com"—and entering the email addresses of all those on your healing team, allows a comment sent by any practitioner to go to all. Again, take care about email contact. It's like a hot line: used sparingly, it can be vital. If you overuse it, your healing professionals will tend to ignore your communications in this format.

The Science of Flavonoids

During msn experiments it is important to establish proper conditions of mass spectrometric analysis. These include the voltage between the entrance slit and skimmer or choice of parent ions. Both characteristic fragmentation pathways of parent ions and their relative intensities bring information about the structure of flavonoid glycosides present in the mixture. Comparison of positive ion mass spectra registered during LC/MS and LC/MS/MS analyses with ESI ionization is presented on Figures 2.4 and 2.5.

The big guys out there at AOL and msn can't seem to get along and agree on an anti-spam standards. What do you think will play out with this? Jennings: I think we'll come to a standard. I actually spoke to AOL and msn at a conference in Chicago, and I think we're going to come around. Everyone really wants the same thing in the end. While they're advocating different ways to get there, I don't think they're as far apart as we are necessarily led to believe in the press. Mike: I hope you're right. Jennings: I hope I'm right, too. Mike: We all need it in the industry.

Web sites of various content providers, including "news alert" features that allow topics of interest to be tracked in real time, staying informed need not be extraordinarily difficult. Paradoxically, the Internet also holds vast stores of propaganda and information that has been altered or manipulated in some way, often by those with an axe to grind. But rather than obscuring the truth, alternative, reactionary, and even bizarre perspectives can sometimes help to extract the essence of what is really going on, like scenes viewed through more than one lens.
Those services also offer options, whether accessible separately or as a built-in feature, to sift through current and archived news reports, journal-like sites known as blogs, digital images, and media files. In addition, some search services are targeted to a variety of special needs, particularly relating to people. For information on telephone numbers or addresses, for example, there are online versions of traditional telephone directories such as www.superpages. com, Verizon's version of the Yellow pages, along with digital-only offerings like http://anywho.com, www.411.

Mike: We all need it in the industry. Jennings: Yes, we all need it. Mike: It seems there is always somebody in there trying to claim the intellectual property for some solution. It has to be open source if it's going to work, right?
But at the end -- and this is the impression I got from the folks at AOL and msn -- what we all really want is a solution. I think there is going to be a little bit of negotiating back and forth, but I do think we are going to get there. We have to. Everyone pretty much agrees. Mike: Yes, it seems like if we don't, then the medium is going to continue to be polluted, and that really hurts everybody in the industry -- especially those who are trying to market with ethics and professionalism. Jennings: Yes, I was at another conference, and one of the speakers asked a very good question.

Put an end to spam and phishing by reforming email

This solution must come from the industry itself, and it should probably come from the big companies leading the industry: Microsoft, AOL, Yahoo and msn. These are the companies that have the influence, the technology and the user base required to put something like this in place. But here's the catch: These companies have to agree. Imagine sitting all these competitors in the same room and saying, "Map out a solution. Shake hands on it, implement it and exchange these certification systems with each other. Then, propagate it to the entire world.

Mike: Do you think the industry leaders -- Microsoft, AOL, Yahoo, msn -- can all agree on a technical standard? Sterne: Yes. But as happens with any standard, who's standard do you pick? It's sort of like the instant messaging wars -- it's going to be a problem for a while, and eventually they're all going to say, "Let's interoperate," and that's the best way to go. Mike: Let's suppose then that some technical solution gets implemented, it works, spam drops by 98 percent or better overnight, which is what I'm hoping for as well. Sterne: I'd be a happy camper. Mike: Oh yeah.
