The truth on losing abdominal body fat - forget the diet hype, here's how it really works

Some people talk about growth hormone and using hgh supplements or DHEA, and certainly those can help with the reduction of body fat by, in a sense, moderating the biological aging taking place in your body. But you're never going to have total success with fat loss unless you also engage in regular physical exercise and pursue a healthy diet. When it comes to abdominal fat, remember, there's no way to eliminate that fat by itself without taking a holistic, whole-body approach. In other words, there are no fat loss shortcuts.

SYNTHETIC hGH: A BOOST TO ADULTS AND ATHLETES Until fairly recently, hgh supplements were difficult and expensive to synthesize. Supplemental hGH had to be harvested from the pituitary glands of human cadavers, and hGH treatments were extremely expensive. As a result, hgh supplements were used only in the medical treatment of children suffering from dwarfism (the failure to grow to normal height). And little research could be done on how any aspect of hGH might affect adults. Then, in the mid-1980s, the drug firms Genentech Inc. and Eli Lilly and Co.
HUMAN GROWTH HORMONE AND AGING Researchers and doctors had shown that hgh supplements could indeed benefit adults. But how might this powerful hormone affect the elderly and the aging process? Transforming a person's muscle-to-fat ratio and rebuilding muscle is hGH's most dramatic result. Elderly people may be said to lose 20 years from their biological age, at least as far as bones and muscles are concerned. The first landmark study to show the effects of hGH on elderly humans was reported in 1990 by Dr.
Rudman's later study followed 42 healthy elderly men who were given hgh supplements for twelve months. Those taking the highest doses had to stop taking the supplement, due to adverse side effects. However, the other hGH users in Dr. Rudman's study increased their lean body mass by 6 percent, decreased their body fat by 16 percent, and generally experienced an improved level of physical fitness. An untreated control group, monitored over the same period, actually lost an average of 3 percent of their lean body mass.
And this method of raising hGH levels avoids virtually all of the side effects associated with taking hgh supplements themselves. The amino acid arginine, in adequate quantities, has been shown to stimulate the pituitary gland to release hGH. In cases of severe burn victims, arginine-induced hGH has been effective in speeding the healing process of already weakened immune systems. In fact, hGH is so essential to the immune system that it actually increased resistance to injections of cancer cells in animals.
Likewise, taking hgh supplements (or their equivalents) is no substitute for watching what you eat and reducing fat, and perhaps calories, in your daily diet. "Anti-aging has long been equated with trying to live longer, but if we can move the emphasis away from death prevention and towards quality of life, then I don't see anything wrong with that," says George Annas, a Boston University bioethicist. "We all have to age, but the aged should be allowed to age gracefully." Human GH alone is not the antidote to aging, but it may contribute to living more productively for many of the elderly.
