Take a look at every single decision the USDA, the FDA, and various government departments have made: they benefit big business. It's all about not just protecting business, but helping big business become more profitable.
The arrogance of modern man
You know what it tells me when humanity tries to take credit and ownership of things from nature? That mankind thinks it's smarter than nature; that men think they are gods who own nature and feel they can exploit nature for any purpose they desire. |

Ron Paul doesn't have the support of big business because he represents the People, not the rich, corrupt corporations that currently run this country. He also doesn't have the support of the mainstream media -- the dishonest news outlets owned by big business! That's why Ron Paul needs your support. He needs financial support from individuals like you and me. We're the ones who have donated over $18 million to Ron Paul already, and we'll donate even more to help this candidate win.

Since big business is now dominating the macadamia nut industry, we can only expect the deceptions to get even worse. big business often seems to be all about exploiting consumers and squeezing every last dime it can out of a resource in order to maximize profits, even if it means destroying an industry and the farmers that go along with it, and that's what we are seeing in the Hawaiian macadamia nut industry today.
My research for writing this article, by the way, comes from talking directly to macadamia nut farmers. |

We all know that retooling industrial plants so that they don't spew it everywhere costs a fortune, and we've all watched with dismay as the issue has become a political football, largely because no one wants to pay the enormous price of change. big business insists that the amount released into the environment is insignificant, politicians continue to curry favor with big business by giving them unacceptably long lead times to clean up their act, and meanwhile our rivers, lakes, and oceans are contaminated with this powerful toxin. |

But I am realizing that in the U.S., big business has taken far too much control. It's almost as if big business is the new dictator, and it's the big business centrally-planned economy instead of the Big Government centrally-planned economy.
The free market, it seems, needs some intervention from time to time in order to keep it honest. And I'm talking about real intervention, not some panzie-slapping FDA acting like it's regulating drug companies (which it clearly isn't). |

The subject has become what Erasmus calls a "cholesterol scare":
The cholesterol scare is big business for doctors, laboratories, and drug companies. It is also a powerful marketing gimmick for vegetable oil and margarine manufacturers who can advertise their products to be 'cholesterol-free.' The fact is that 999 out of every 1000 people (or 499 out of every 500, depending on which expert source you read) can control their cholesterol level and, more importantly, their cardiovascular health, by nutritional improvement. |

I know, it makes wholly too much sense to be adopted by big business (or even most politicians). They'd have to distort it in some way, like getting an ex-President (Clinton, maybe?) to sign on to some watered-down "voluntary" industry self-regulation that will ultimately prove entirely ineffective. Which is, of course, the whole point of the exercise. When Big Tobacco says it's running ads to dissuade children from smoking, do you really think it wants children to not smoke? Junk food companies work the same way. |

This is where it's going in big business over the next 20 years. I think everybody in his or her heart knows that we can no longer exploit the planet. We have to do everything we can to live in harmony, to plant trees, to create a peace. You know, there's an old saying my dad told me once. He said, "Don't crap where you live."
Mike: That's very good advice, because we all live on this planet.
Wolfe: Yes, and we've got to keep it clean.
Mike: It's wonderful too, because you are a part of an organization that is pioneering these new business models that honor the planet. |

They follow an agenda, and that agenda is handed to them by big business.
Sadly, the majority of magazines that commercially succeed are those that print stories that benefit big business. That's how they get advertising, make money and stay in business. It's not exactly a conspiracy, but more of a system of patting each others' backs. Here, you run my story on this new drug, and we'll sign that $10 million ad contract for the next calendar year... that sort of thing.

To be fair, pharmaceutical companies are doing what any big business does. They maximize profits by giving people what they want — driven by massive amounts of promotion and advertising to ensure that we want what they are selling. It's a great racket. The pharmaceutical companies are exploiting our desire for easy answers to our health issues. The inability or lack of responsibility for our own lives is leading to the deterioration of our health. As the pharmaceutical industry grows, so too does the number of potentially harmful drugs that we take without asking the right questions. |

How the USDA enables big business to corrupt organic standards for profit
Mike: Let's talk about the definition of organic, then. What should organic really mean in terms of, not only the treatment of the cows, but also what chemicals are not in the milk, for example? What is the real definition?
Ronnie: There are organic farmers all over the world - in about 100 countries - who are certified organic nowadays. |

Treating disease is big business in this country
You see, disease is big business, while health means a loss of revenues. Disease keeps people dependent on the system, while health sets people free. Disease turns individuals into victims, while health turns them into capable human beings. Disease is about centralized authority and control, while health is about individual freedoms and free thinking.
That's why you'll never hear any politician, any government, or any disease-care business teaching people how to be healthy. |

Mike: Well, this seems like a clear case in which big business is now seeing dollar signs whenever the word "organic" appears, so they are doing the minimum necessary or even just blatantly violating the rules in order to put that word on their products, regardless of the spirit of the law or the original intent of organics. Is this just corporate greed?
Ronnie: This is, and the sad thing is, how easy it would be to help 5,000 or 10,000 conventional family farmers make the transition in their dairies to organic. It would not be that hard. |

Like anything that catches on with the public and has the potential for huge profits, the supplement industry became big business. Hundreds of millions of consumers are buying pills, powders, tonics and other formulas to improve their health. At least that is what they are led to believe. False promises and unsubstantiated claims have propelled this industry into a $23 billion money-making juggernaut with thousands of manufacturers each promoting the next formula designed to achieve one of the four big, fat health and fitness lies:
1. Supplements will make you look better

| Personal training is a big business within the club industry. The average personal training session in a fitness club ranges from about $60 to $70 an hour and clubs can achieve as much as 20 to 25 percent of their total revenue from this service. What that means is that if you want to work with a trainer twice a week, you can expect to spend approximately $500 per month on top of your enrollment fees and dues. Most clubs offer some sort of fitness orientation, but they are all designed to provide you with a basic overview of how to use the equipment and then sell you personal training. |

Sleep disorders are big business. As of this writing, use of sleep medications has grown by more than 60 percent since 2000, and in 2006, makers of sleeping pills spent more than $600 million advertising directly to consumers. Obviously, more than a few people are having some problems catching some good shut-eye.
Inositol might be the answer. This interesting substance is usually considered a member of the B vitamin family, but it's not technically a vitamin (it contains no nitrogen) and it's synthesized by the human body. No matter. |

No wonder stress management is not only a major health goal for the twenty-first century, but big business as well: witness the mushrooming of high-end spas, yoga classes, relaxation techniques, and spiritual retreats.
The research on stress and its damaging effects is hardly new, and there's no deficit of techniques for dealing with it. But in the rush to try the latest, hippest technique for stress busting, let's not forget that the basics have been around for eons. |

You see, big business is all about extracting recurring fees from the working people. That's how we keep big business rich and working people poor. It is being done quite effectively right now, here in the United States and around the world.
One thing they know for sure is that people need food, and they need it every single day. One way to extract even more revenues from people is to control the intellectual property of the food they are consuming.
Personally, I think allowing corporations to own the rights to food creation would be a gross violation of nature and basic human rights. |

Prevention of disease through vaccines is rapidly turning into a big business, and the best customer is the U.S. Defense Department. Were it not for the soldiers, drug companies would rather shy away from producing vaccines. They have to be offered at reasonably cheap prices, and also need to be constantly reformulated (which is very costly) to keep up with the constantly mutating killer bugs. During wartime the vaccine industry comes alive and flourishes. Millions of doses of various kinds of vaccines are then finding the perfect market. No liability suits, no major objections from anyone. |

There are plenty of others who have done a great job documenting the corrupt antics of big business and politics in the name of profit. My goal is to highlight the dangers of legal drugs and bring awareness about disease prevention so that you can avoid taking drugs unless absolutely necessary. If we focus on prevention we can avert many illnesses altogether. But our lifestyle choices of consumption and addiction lead us directly to ill health.
We live in a society of convenience and instant gratification. |

Cancer is big, big business. And curing cancer is a threat to all the criminals participating in that industry: The non-profit employees, oncologists, doctors, federal regulators, drug company executives, med school propaganda teachers, pharmaceutical reps and many others. These people cannot allow cancer to be prevented or cured. Their jobs and careers are at stake.
Another outstanding source for learning more about the evils of the cancer industry is G. Edward Griffin. Click here to read our article about Griffin or click here for his website. |

Big Business to exploit U.S. consumers, stripping them of their health, their money and their future. The government has become, in essence, the enforcement branch of corporate America. Virtually every significant new law passed by Congress is structured in alignment with the wishes of America's most powerful corporations. This is no coincidence.

There's only one person in the running for the next presidential election who even has a shot at reversing this, and that's Ron Paul. |
| Why does the FCC cater to the big business monopolization of the broadcast spectrum, squeezing out small, local operators who might want to run intelligent, independent radio stations? Why isn't the EPA going after Monsanto for the environmental impact of all its genetically modified crops and destructive chemicals? Why isn't the entire cancer industry going after chemical companies and actively trying to prevent cancer rather than simply claiming to be searching for a cure that will never be found anyway?
The answer to all these questions is the same: Because the U.S. |

Greenwashing is big business, and so is pushing more toxic products to consumers that they will spray on their lawns, shove down their throats, put in their cars or pee away into the sewer system. Most consumer products are highly toxic for people, animals and nature, and before long, nearly all of them will likely carry some kind of greenwashing claim that declares how good they are for the environment. |
