Turn the cameras around on big brother, I say, and let the people monitor what's really happening in government. We should pass a new law that says the offices of all public officials must install live webcams. It's not called PUBLIC office for no reason, after all. Let's make it really public. |
| Meet your new big brother, Mayor Daley
I'm always impressed when elected politicians have the backbone to endure the uproarious laughter that almost always follows their "save our city" proposals. The latest such entertainment is offered by Chicago Mayor Daley, who is now supporting a plan that would require more than 12,000 Chicago businesses to install video cameras in an effort to reduce street crime. Since the new rules only apply to businesses open more than twelve hours a day, savvy business owners have figured all they have to do is close early to avoid the mandate. |

They are big brother intellectual property policies, where these companies would even install secret spyware on your computer, which is what Sony BMG did to millions of users without their knowledge, to prevent you from copying their music, meanwhile exposing your computer to hacker attacks. That's history, that's already been done. That's the way Sony BMG treats customers, and if we leave intellectual property laws up to the media giants like Sony, we'll all be branded criminals sooner or later.
So bottom line: Rip all the movies you want. |

To the big brother I never had, Mark Mastrov, who believed in my ability enough to make me the president of his company and later, his executive vice president of sales and marketing worldwide. While working as his right-hand man for eight years, Mark taught me how to think outside of the box as we developed the largest chain of health and fitness clubs in the world. To the entire team at 24 Hour Fitness who supported me during our incredible international run. |

| Big Brother is drugs, big brother is alcohol, big brother is caffeine, nicotine, cocoa, chocolate. big brother is the passionate disrespect we have for ourselves.
PBC: What can individual Americans do to help solve these problems?
DG: It's difficult to say.... It goes all the way back to our lifestyle—to the disrespect we have for our neighbors, poor folks, women, minority folks, and for other nations—to valuing trinkets and money over human values.
But things are changing fast, interesting to see how fast. |

This impacts us all, because if Maryland officials learn they can get away with this kind of big brother Medicine scheme, other states may be inspired to pull out their guns and try the same thing. It is crucial that we remind these officials of what country they live in, and here in the United States, We the People still demand our freedoms and our right to choose what kind of medicine is best for our children.
The dangers of vaccines
What's clear is that there is a substantial and scientifically validated link between vaccinations and neurological disorders in children. |

Being adopted, needing to prove myself, obsessive desire to make money, no real family attachments, high IQ, willing to bend or even break the rules, all put me in a category of being an excellent candidate to be approached and made an offer that I couldn't refuse. big brother is bigger than you could ever imagine. Today, it is worse than ever before. I can assure you that throughout history big brother has been watching us. |

I've spent this much time on black tea only because it's so often overlooked, living in the shadow of its "big brother," green tea. But wonderful health benefits of black tea aside, green tea fully deserves its primary place in the sun. It is truly one of the world's great superfoods and has been acknowledged as such by virtually every nutritionist I know of worth his or her salt. It has anticancer activity. It's helpful in weight loss. It lowers cholesterol. It's associated with significantly lower levels of heart disease. |

A fantasy of this type might present itself if you felt as though you were always on "thin ice" with your parents when you were young and relied on your big brother for love and protection. Always remember that the subconscious mind loves to communicate through stories, symbols, and metaphors.
You may experience an obvious fantasy when you're regressed under hypnosis. A woman once came to me with bone spurs and severe pain in her feet and ankles. She was lesbian and had grown up with a lot of discrimination from her prominent Midwestern family. |

And like big brother, the drug companies were quietly collecting information on the public, accumulating it in corporate databases, which they could then use to make personal appeals to those they hoped would become their lifelong customers. This was part of a promotional tactic the marketers called compliance, which was aimed at keeping Iowans on their daily meds.
Many of the marketers' ads were written with words meant to create fear that disease was just around the corner. |

Our younger son loves Scooby Doo, just like his big brother. Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and Scooby-Doo. That's our world. And guess who makes these products? Johnson & Johnson.
The leading baby product line today in the United States, Australia, and elsewhere in the world is Johnson & Johnson's. Their Web site tells us that their products are clinically tested to ensure they are "mild and gentle enough for newborns." This is why the company says it replaces sodium lauryl sulfate, which is relatively harsh as a cleanser, with a close substitute as a cleansing ingredient. |

Don't forget the glands in the brain—the hypothalamus, pituitary, the pineal glands, so important for creating a healing environment in the body so we can regenerate ourselves, have more energy and vitality, even as we get older, rather than going in a spiral of degeneration and waiting for big brother to say, 'Hey, take this protease inhibitor.'
"The endocrine system is primarily the hypothalamus, which is the brain's brain. The gland in your brain that controls just about everything, including aging, is not even the size of your pinky fingernail. |

I can assure you that throughout history big brother has been watching us. The letters and e-mails you write, the books you read, the conversations you have, the websites you visit, where and when you spend your money, all are being reviewed and scrutinized. When two men approached me in a very public bowling alley it seemed a little surreal. They had obviously been watching me for quite some time. The conversation was straightforward, serious, and to the point. They knew about me in great detail. They knew my most powerful motivation was making money. |

Mike, there is an effort to condition us to act like sheep and to simply get in line and do anything that big brother demands.
Mike: Well, the amazing thing is that it works. I mean, most people do not think. They do not question authority. They line up obediently and do what they're told.
John: Well, it does and it does not, though, because it is backfiring spectacularly, and I am very happy to see it backfire. I was very happy to see C-SPAN do a program recently where they had Alex Jones of www.PrisonPlanet.com moderate a panel discussion group called "Scholars for 9/11 Truth. |

When they say: big brother is taking away your rights. They assume: Government is not already involved in our food choices.
When CCF sounds alarm bells about government on the march to do away with the American way of life and your freedom to enjoy your favorite foods, it conveniently glosses over the fact that government is already intimately involved in our food choices. Various federal agencies set standards for food safety, provide nutrition advice, subsidize agriculture, and otherwise oversee the types of foods we eat and the information we receive about them. |
| What true, red-blooded American could resist this call for a life of adult dietary independence, free from Big Brother's long, dark shadow of paternalistic surveillance and control? Of course, this is just a silly distraction from the very real health problems advocates are talking about. |
| My colleagues and I are often marginalized as "the food police," out-of-control zealots with a "hidden agenda" to get "Big Brother" to take away your God-given right to Big Macs and Big Gulps. The goal of these attacks is to once again detract attention from the heart of the matter: that corporations control most of our food choices. Once you realize that most industry arguments are disingenuous, hypocritical, misleading, or downright false, it's quite easy to expose them as self-serving statements designed to obfuscate the real issues. |

This isn't happening because a big brother government is looking over our shoulders, or powerful corporations are watching us with security cameras and RFID (radio frequency identification) tags. That kind of surveillance is far outstripped by the millions of cameras and video recorders in the hands of millions of Little Brothers and Little Sisters—us. In our camera phones, we carry with us the tools of our own transparency, and we do so willingly, even happily.
Let's call this world the Participatory Panopticon. |

You see, this puts the decision back in their hands without requiring the government to act like big brother. The arguments against this system will of course start with the most obvious, which is that this is cruel to those people who are smokers. It's cruel not to cover their health care costs -- what are you going to do, kick them out of the hospitals? My answer to that is that these people are being cruel to themselves in the first place. They are committing suicide -- they're doing it knowingly, willingly, consciously, day after day. |

Anybody that thinks that big brother Government has any ability to make it any safer by legislation is just plain nuts. You get into the whole cross spectrum of things that can kill you; you are more at risk of being hit by lightning, being hit by a car crossing the street or dying from an allergic reaction to a bee sting than you are from being hurt by a dietary supplement. |

Yes, adopting such a plan sounds like a move that only big brother could love. But the alternative, as currently practiced, is worse. Our acceptance of a standard benefits plan does away with Big Brother's seeming arbitrariness in making coverage decisions. It also means we accept the legal realities that play out in Big Brother's courts when expectations regarding health benefits go awry for sick people. Establishment of the plan will also finally put an end to the wasteful shell game played by health insurers and their brokers in the endless formulation and reformulation of plan designs. |

This is big brother to the max. This is worse than anything Stalin could have imagined. This population had better wake up; the implications go far beyond the drugging of our normal school children.
Mike: That leads me to my final question: How does all of this ever end? How does this return to normal? When is the fraud exposed? How long will it take? If the pharmaceutical companies are so powerful and control so many big players, how does this ever get exposed?
Dr. Baughman: Exactly. |

The fighting came next, was focused mainly on the idea of a "fat tax," and continues today. The fighting came from different sources, including the press.
First, public health groups will determine that hamburgers cause cancer and heart disease. The trial lawyers will begin class actions on behalf of adults who blame their illness on . . . special sauce. |
| Primary objections are: þA food tax would be manipulative and evokes images of a "nanny" or big brother intruding in people's lives to tell them what to eat. þTaxes would interfere with personal liberties and freedom of choice. þAdditional bureaucracy is undesirable. We would add: þTaxes on food may be regressive (affect poor people disproportionately). þDecisions on what would be taxed could be arbitrary. þThere is the possibility of unintended consequences.
These criticisms are defensible and must be considered. Taxes can have important social effects if used correctly. |
