Joseph R. Simonetta holds a master of architecture degree from the University of Colorado. He also studied architecture at the University of Southern California. He holds a master of divinity degree from Harvard Divinity School, and he also studied at Yale Divinity School. He holds a B.S. in business from Penn State University.

Born in a World War II housing project in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, he is the second of three sons of an immigrant blue-collar steelworker and his wife. He was raised in the shadows of the blast furnaces of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation. He has since lived for significant amounts of time in California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Florida, Greece, and New Zealand. He currently lives in Vilcabamba, Ecuador.

His rich life experiences encompass many fields. He has been an Army officer, a professional athlete, a computer programmer, an entrepreneur and businessman, an architectural designer, an environmental activist, an author, twice a nominee for the U.S. Congress, and a nominee for the U.S. presidency. This book is based on his lecture series, “Astonish the World, Tell the Simple Truth.”
