Vilcabamba Ecuador Living, Homes and Land

A NaturalNews PhotoTour by Mike Adams

Hi there! That's me and my recording studio. Just a microphone, a laptop and a satellite dish (and the Great Outdoors). That's all I need to run NaturalNews, record radio shows (including phone-in interviews), write books and do everything else I need to do. In fact, this entire photo tour was written from the San Joaquin ranch in Vilcabamba.

The electricity works here most of the time, but I bought a backup generator (about $450) that powers everything I need if the city power goes off (which happens a few times a year).

Could you work from here and make enough to live on? Undoubtedly! If you have any skills at all, you can find ready buyers online at places like Elance (www.Elance.com) who will contract your services (writing, editing, consulting, etc.) and pay you the market rate. You can live here quite comfortably on less than a thousand dollars a month, and that includes one domestic helper.

For two thousand dollars a month, you can live a life of luxury here. If you're on a really tight budget, you might be able to squeak by on $500 / month, but that's cutting it close by American standards.

Of course, the local here live on far less than that: About $300 / month. So it's doable, but to be comfortable, I'd plan on needing about $1,000 / month here, and that's *after* you've purchased your land and built a home.
