Vilcabamba Ecuador Living, Homes and Land

A NaturalNews PhotoTour by Mike Adams

Here's a photo of a guest house built in Vilcabamba. Notice the intricate stonework? It's all done by hand, at surprisingly low cost. The local workers are extremely skilled in areas like stonework, masonry and landscaping.

This structure is also built out of adobe, which has been painted blue. You can find natural paints here based on plant dyes and natural materials. All the roofs here are tile, and the floors are either tile or wood. Carpet is not a good idea here, given the high humidity during the rainy season, but the good news is that you can open your windows year-round and let the fresh breeze blow right through your entire home. The temperature is virtually perfect every single day.

Just remember to include screens on your windows if you build a home here, because there are a lot of large moths here at night, and if you leave the lights on, they'll fly right in. I've also seen owls, bats, lemurs, possums, hawks and all kinds of birds here.
